A new direct air route linking Jeju Island and Fukuoka has been launched, becoming the third direct connection between Jeju and Japan after Tokyo Narita and Osaka.

The Jeju–Fukuoka route is operated by T’way Air. The airline began service with four weekly flights on Dec. 20 and plans to operate daily flights from mid-January next year, increasing to five flights per week from February.

With a flight time of around one hour and 10 minutes, the route is expected to attract strong demand from weekend travelers as well as individual and family tourists. Initial booking rates reached 99 percent for Jeju-to-Fukuoka flights and 95 percent for the return route.

Fukuoka is one of the closest major Japanese cities to Jeju and is popular for its diverse food culture, shopping, hot springs, and natural attractions. Its accessibility has made it a favored destination for short overseas trips.

T’way Air currently operates international routes from Jeju to Osaka, Taipei, Kaohsiung, and Singapore. The airline said it will continue expanding overseas routes from Jeju to improve convenience for local residents and foreign visitors.
