⁴ᴷ Okayama: Kurashiki Station (岡山県: 倉敷駅) – Japan Walking Tour (December, 2025)
Walking Around Kurashiki at Night: Beyond the Bikan Historical Quarter
I originally wanted to head toward the Tohoku region, but due to recent news about bears, I decided to change my route and travel west instead. The final destination of this journey is Okayama Prefecture.
After passing through Kyoto and Hyogo, I arrived in Okayama. From the mountainous city of Tsuyama, I continued south toward the Seto Inland Sea and reached Kurashiki City.
Since it was a Saturday in December, I passed by many groups heading out for drinks or returning from gatherings—probably year-end parties. Some of the people walking toward the station may have been tourists who had spent the day visiting the Bikan Historical Quarter.
Around Kurashiki Station, covered shopping arcades are well developed. While the white-walled streets of the Bikan area are famous, I also recommend exploring the nearby streets lined with small, retro-style bars. These Showa-era drinking spots are becoming increasingly rare and offer a different side of Kurashiki worth discovering.
