U.K.-based hospitality group IHG Hotels and Resorts plans to open a hotel complex in Osaka in 2029, aiming to draw in wealthy travelers and business guests visiting the Japanese city and its upcoming casino.
The complex near Universal Studios Japan will have 817 rooms, the company said Thursday, making it IHG’s biggest new hotel in Japan. It also will be close to an integrated resort featuring a casino scheduled to open in 2030.
IHG’s new location will consist of two buildings and feature three brands: InterContinental will have 244 rooms, while Kimpton offers 246 and Holiday Inn Resort has 327.
