Myojo Kanko Bus and Sky Hop Bus Marketing Japan will operate a new route, the “Purple Line,” on Sky Hop Bus Kyoto from December 1 through January 31, 2026.
The service will be a demonstration operation subsidized by the Japan Tourism Agency, aiming to separate usage between tourists and local residents. The Purple Line is a circular route connecting Arashiyama, Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavilion), Daitoku-ji Temple, Nijo Castle, and back to Arashiyama, and a new bus stop will be established inside Restaurant Arashiyama. There will be 5 services per day, bringing the total number of services to 25 when combined with the existing Red Line and Blue Line.
Fares are 4,300 yen for adults and 2,200 yen for children for a 1-day ticket, and 6,500 yen for adults and 3,300 yen for children for a 2-day ticket. The tickets allow unlimited travel on all three lines, and also include use of the “Okoshi Bus Kyoto Central Line.”
