TOKYO (TR) – A school teacher from Hachioji City in custody for allegedly committing lewd acts on an elementary school boy has been further accused of filming the victim, police said.
During the investigation, police found more than 80,000 still images and videos of nude boys on a seized hard drives belonging to Koichiro Tanaka, a 75-year-old juku cram school teacher.
According to police, Tanaka invited the boy, who was playing in the river, to a barbecue and urged him to remove his clothes.

Tanaka then filmed the boy while he was nude. “I made the boy strip naked and filmed him,” the suspect said in the latest allegations of violating the Child Prostitution and Pornography Prohibition Act.
As previously reported, the boy’s mother became suspicious when she heard her son talking on the phone to “an older man he met on the riverbank.” She then contacted police.
The images found on the hard drives were taken from 2007 onwards, with the majority believed to have been taken on the same riverbank, police said.
Tanaka is a former elementary school teacher who was found guilty of kidnapping a minor and violating the Child Welfare Act in 2017. In that case, he lured a boy into an apartment in connection with an incident in which a group of child pornography enthusiasts filmed and shared obscene videos of boys.
