【冬の温泉ツアー♨️】心も体もポカポカ!!東北で秘湯ハンターの旅〈ますだおかだ増田〉
I’m Masuda, from Masuda Okada, the hidden hot springs hunter. I’ve come to Akita Prefecture. I’ve visited people from all over the country and traveled to the New East in search of snow, a dream I’ve been longing for for 10 years. Oh, it’s here. Oh. Oh, excuse me. I’m in. I’m here. O-san, I’ve come in. There it is. How was it? It was good. It feels nice . Yes, I’m here. Oh, who’s sitting next to me? Oh, sorry. Oh, oh, it’s a married couple. Oh, yes. Great. Great. Oh , please come in. I’ll come in. That’s fine. Yes, I’ll come in. Please. [Applause] This historic inn nestled in the mountains is a favorite destination for guests from all over the country. Apparently, the charming atmosphere is also very popular with women. Sub, sub. It’s really nice. It’s really nice. I’m here. Excuse me. Is it okay? Excuse me . Thank you. Akaa . Wow, that feels really good. It suits you. Thank you, bro. Do you come here often? Yes, I do. Oh, are you a local? No. From Tokyo. I come from Tokyo to Newt Onsen twice a year, yes, twice a year, and here too. Yes. What do you think? This Tenbro is overflowing with a sense of freedom. The water contains iron and iron, so it warms you up before you know it. I go to that Wi-Fi hot spring for a bit to hang out. I guess I’m living a pretty down-to-earth life. I’m making money too. I’m making money. That’s quite a goal. That ‘s my goal. I want to be like that. I want to come back as a cool guy like that dad. [Music] Yes. That’s great. Masuda, Okada, Masuda Yuki, on a journey to find local specialties and people. Wow, it’s beautiful. It’s a really great place. We’ve arrived in a building that flourished as a downtown area during the Edo period. It’s one of Tohoku’s top tourist destinations, visited by 1.2 million people annually. I love the contrast between the white snow and the black walls. Even though there are teahouses and such, it’s a bit sparse. I want to eat something delicious from Akita Prefecture . Ah, kiritanpo. I want to eat kirimbo. I’ll do it. I’ll be in. That’s good. Yes. Here you go. Miso kiritanpo . Oh, it’s pretty big, isn’t it? Yes. It’s a jack full of rice. Eh, just one . Speaking of kiritanpo, hot pot is famous, but apparently the locals have long enjoyed this way of eating it, smeared with sweet miso and grilled. Ah, so, ah, quick. Thank you. It’s miso kiritanpo made with underground sweet miso. Here. I’ll eat it. Ah, it smells good. Yes. Beautiful. Actually, I prefer grilled kiritanpo. Maybe more locals like this . Yes. If you have two of these, that’s enough for lunch, right? That’s right. My kids also have this for breakfast, and this for breakfast? Yes. Wow. For kids, is it just one? Or two , or three? Oh, I’ll go there again and again. I love it. No, yeah. It’s beautiful. It’s very popular with tourists. I could go there as many times as I want. It was delicious. Oh, it’s nice to eat outside too. Hello. On a trip. Oh, thank you. Where are you from? Kobe? Oh, from Kobe. Oh, thank you. Just the two of you? Oh, no, no, on that tour… Oh, you came on a tour ? So, ice cream in this cold weather? And outside too. Yes. Oh, is it okay? No, it tastes better outside. Isn’t it cold? And your husband? Yes, at the sake place [laughs] that’s nice. Outside, while looking at this view. Yeah. I was thinking of drinking amazake, but then there’s this sake. I asked if they could make sake and they said they could. Yeah. Oh, so it’s a local sake after all? I guess so. That’s right. If you drink too much alcohol, anything goes well with it. Oh, that’s right. It’s cold, so cold . Thank you. It’s fresh. No, it’s beautiful. Snow really looks good on this old, ancient townscape. Ah. Wow, it’s so spacious. It’s been like this forever. Oh, this place is amazing too. Uke-yashiki. Yes, [Music] This one is open to the public. It’s hard to see. Hello. Excuse me. Thank you. That ‘s fine. Oh, you’re a famous guide, perhaps? Come in. Thank you. Excuse me. I’d appreciate it. Thank you. In this town, samurai residences built from the Edo period to the Meiji period still remain. [Music] Yes. Well, that’s right. A small-theater man. A Sabegoyogu-za man. [Music] Wow, what did you just say? I didn’t understand. Um, it’s French. French? Definitely not. Why did you say that ? I’ve been warming up since the 3rd. Please warm up from the 3rd. Please. There were some left over. Thank you. Our guide is Suzuki-san, born and raised in high society. Yes. Oh, there’s no one who calls me Shark. The ground’s slippery, what’s that like? No, it felt nice. It’s a little different. It’s completely different from autumn. Sorry. Thank you. Oh, this room you enter from the entrance is called Osho, right? It’s not the kitchen. We just called it the kitchen. Eh, yes. It’s called the dining room, right? That’s not it. The original kitchen was called Mizutani. Mizuya is a Kansai word, and the early group was called Mizuya. Ah, I see. Yeah. It’s different even within Japan. It’s different. Please proceed carefully, taking care to avoid any hesitation. Come in. Come in. Yes. This is Nakano. I see. So, this room is called the Orchid Butterfly Room? Ah, that’s right. Right. There’s another butterfly below. It’s actually a food item used to hide the heads of nails. It’s a decorative item. Ah, is this the Butterfly Room? Yes. From there, the intestines grow dramatically into beautiful intestines. Yeah. Yeah. Resurrection, restoration, and longevity are all considered performances. Is it still the same as it was before? Yes. Wow. No, but you still have your important things there. I think it’s in good condition. I clean it every day. Is that so? Thank you for your hard work. Yes, thank you. Next to the Weapon House is the Ultimate Oyakodon. It’s perfect. [Music] Thank you very much. I look forward to serving you Oyakodon. Yes, thank you. Please. Please. Thank you either way. I’ve always wanted to try the original Hiji, one of Japan’s top three, alongside Nagoya Coach Sato. Sorry. [Music] Thank you. Oh, a set. Wow, wow, wow. Yes. Here you go. Wow, it looks so delicious. It’s really thick and creamy. It’s coming. Oh, is that the dashi? Yes. It’s all made with 100% evacuation dori, so I think it’s completely different from other oyakodon. You know, it feels like you’re enjoying the dashi too. Thank you. They use tender female meat. And it’s so luxurious, topped off with three sun-dried eggs. [Music] It’s truly the ultimate oyakodon. [Music] Apparently, many people come from all over the country to enjoy this flavor. Have you been doing this for a long time? [Music] It’s been around for 20 years now. I see. Wow. Was it originally a restaurant? Well, it was originally a coffee shop, but… We wanted to serve a dish that represents Akita. [Music] Yes. Seriously, it’s the ultimate oyakodon. Thank you. [Music] [Applause] [Music] I’m very satisfied with this corner, where I can find many local specialties. There’s a town in Akita that I, Masuda Okada Masuda, am very interested in. Welcome. Masuda Town. [Music] Sada is excited. I’ve arrived in Masuda Town, Masuda Town, Yokote City, Akita Prefecture. The streets of Masuda. It’s so lively. It’s not really that special. This town probably has Masuda written all over it. It ‘s a town with such a tradition. First morning in Masuda. By the way, my mother’s name is Mada Asako , so this is practically my mother’s. Wow, it’s so cold. So cold. These townspeople aren’t walking around at all. Oh, what’s this? Masuda Chosha. There’s the Masuda Library. What does this mean? Masuda Harube. Sorry, that’s the name. Um, it said Masuda Sabe at the entrance. Um, what does that mean? Ah, well, this is the lead here, and, well, in the spring, let’s go to the town of Masuda. Something like that. Ah, let’s go to the town of Masuda. Masuda Sarube. Right. Yes. Ah, is that what it means? Um, has this land been used for a long time? Ah, yes. Ah. And, um, it’s also known as a town of warehouses. Kura? Oh, is that Masuda too? Ah, it is. Yes. Since we’re here, let’s go this way. Masuda Elementary School. Today is Sunday. It ‘s closed though. Wow, is Okada here? Wow, amazing. As you’d expect from this town. Warehouse. Ha. Ah, this area is nice. Yeah, this area is amazing. Wow, amazing. It says it’s open to the public. Shall we go? Ah, hello. Excuse me. Excuse me for interrupting. Are you this way? Yes. Ah, sorry. May I come in during the exhibition? See, you can see the ark inside, right? Oh, it’s true. There’s a ark inside the house. That’s right. Is there any reason why there’s a ark inside the house? Well, I want to close it up like this. Yes. It’s on the roof, yeah. Snow piles up. Then the earthen walls are covered. It hurts if it’s outside. Ah, because of the snow. Yes, here on Nakananamachi Street, there are rows of storehouses built from the Edo to Meiji periods. [Music] I see you’re coming in. So you’re coming from here. Excuse me. Ah. Yes. Yeah. Oh. Oh. This is the storehouse, and it’s upstairs. [Music] This is inside the ark, right? Inside. What’s displayed up there? It’s from the same capital. Yes. Just below that is on a platform. That’s the lady. So it’s Amaterasu Omikami. [Music] Amaterasu Omikami. Yes. You’ve certainly never been up above that level, have you? Do you only go there to clean or something? Yes. Every year, I’d go up there about 23 or so times and clean. Yes. Ah, that was the man’s role. Oh, is that so? Because she’s a goddess. Ah, those are the rules. Even now, families eat inside the ku, but apparently in the past they lived inside the ku. Wow. [Music] Wow, amazing. Can I come in? Please come in . This is where the guests were just now. Yes. Yes. Yes. Ah. Yes. This place is great. It’s like a veranda. You can receive and dismiss guests here, and if there’s a festival or something, you can say come in. Yeah. Yes. Isn’t it nice? It’s nice. So, this is the ku. Ha. The entrance to this storehouse looks cool from here. Yes. Oh, does it close properly? Yes. Oh, it’s quiet. Yes , it’s heavy. Yes . Please come in. It’s so sturdy. Wow, heavy. Eh, stone? Eh, it’s earth. Earth. Yes, so I usually leave it open like this, but I close it properly if necessary. [Music] During the Edo period, Masuda Town flourished as a distribution hub for people and goods. Many associations were born there, and one after another, kuku were built. Mr. Sato was the first person in town to open the kuku to the public . It must have been a hassle and difficult at times, but the reason he thought about demolishing the houses was because he was afraid the kuku would be destroyed one by one. I see. So, in order to protect it, he opened the kuku to the public , and appealed to everyone . Of the remaining 50 or so kuku, nearly 10 are open to the public. It has now become a symbol of Masuda Town. It will continue to be a symbol of Masuda Town. [Music] Yes. For Matsuda Town, Masuda. Oh , that’s right. Do your best. We’re rooting for you. Mr. Masuda, yes. Thank you. Thank you. Wait, you can take a hot spring bath in a place like this? Next up: discovering people in the snowy mountains. That’s great. Masuda, Okada, Masuda, Akita Travel. We head deeper and deeper into the mountains in search of people. Now that we’ve gotten quite deep into the mountains, it’s getting quite cold. Oh? This is up there. Oh, this is a hot spring. Oh, it smells amazing and it’s warm here. This is the carefully selected hot spring. [Music] I’m making inquiries at the information center. Thank you. Excuse me. It’s this way. Ah , are there any places where I can go for an open-air bath? Well, if you go further in, uh, there’s a Japanese Association member’s inn . Yes, there’s a place called Abe Ryokan, and there are other places you can enjoy on your way back. It’s okay to go today too. We’re open today too. Is that so? Yes. Thanks, A-san. Thanks. We’re heading further up the mountain to Abe Ryokan. [Music] So this is Oame Onsen. Oame Onsen Abe Ryokan, 3-day bath, and an inn that protects the Japanese Tower. That sounds nice. Yeah. Oh, thank you for your help. Excuse me. Oh, are you the owner here? [Music] Yes. No, he has a lovely beard and everyone’s always saying “that’s it, that’s it” to him. No, no, no, it’s not a trademark. No, these guys are really great. Oh, thank you . It’s beautiful, but is it old? Yes. It has quite a history. Is it possible to make it over 200 years for over 200 yen? It looks like it was born here. How many generations have it? I’m the third generation. Ah, so as the third generation, you’ve been protecting the owner all this time. That’s right. That’s right. Off to Tenbro. Wow, it’s amazing. It has a certain charm. This slope is just full of anticipation. Wow. Ah, even here, ah, it’s probably really warm from the geothermal heat of the hot spring. Yes . Let’s go. Ah, it’s hot. Wow, it’s sub. Wow, it ‘s nice. Sha. Ah, it’s good. Isn’t it really hot? Wow, it’s pretty neat. A roadside bath surrounded by snow-capped mountains . Carefully selected 98° water right next to it. This wild open-air bath along the mackerel coast was handmade by Mr. Abe. I want to walk through an unfamiliar town . No, it’s always going to break. Ah, my past life. Thank you for the beautiful scenery here again. This inn boasts another thing besides the hot springs. Sorry to have kept you waiting. Yes. Ah, hello. Hello. Mr. employee, you must be his son. Ah, sorry for the next one. I’m intruding. Thank you very much. I haven’t grown a beard yet. Beards are no good. I see. Ah, it smells so good. It smells so good. This is Tadashi’s place. That ‘s right. Oh, the signature dish is Mise beef steak. There is only one farmer who raises Japanese Black cattle bred in the local Mise district. It is a rare Wagyu beef that is rarely available outside the prefecture. It is seasoned with salt, pepper, red wine, and soy sauce. [Music] [Music] Oh, what shall we do? Let’s start with this. It’s that English-ranked sardine steak. English rank? Yes. Oh, it smells so, so, so sweet. Isn’t it? Yes. Wow, it’s tender, delicious, and the juices are insanely good. Oh, you can have the sashimi with garlic and soy sauce. It’s kind of like eating tuna. Seriously? It’s soft, sweet, and luxurious. For someone from the mountains, steak is the best. [Music] This is nameko soup. Natural nameko soup. Do they get a lot of them around here? Yes, they do. Cheesy. And the miso is made using that underground miso. Wow. Hold on. It’s huge. Wow, wow, tortilla. So thick and smooth. I love green onions and nameko. [Music] This is perfect. The miso is good too. This trip around snowy Akita. It was cold, but I had a heartwarming encounter. [Music] Thank you. I’ll definitely visit this town again. [Music] This is Masuda from Hunter Mata Okada. Wow, it feels great. I’m at Mt. Atara in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The purpose of this trip is hot springs and the real sky. [Music] In this story, Chieko says there’s no sky in Tokyo, and she wants to see the real sky . The blue sky that appears every day on Mt. Atara is Chieko’s real sky. So , Nakamura Kotaro’s real sky is here . The real sky that appears in that story is here on Mt. Atara, and our guide, Ichinose, will be showing us around . Yes. So, there is a real sky. I’m really empty-headed. Yes. I wonder if I can see the real sky. Well, I was up here today to maintain the mountain trail, and the weather was amazing. Yes. But it’s starting to look a little iffy. Should we hurry a bit? Yes. Let’s go for a bit. Thank you. Yes. Thank you. Yes. Shall we go today ? Yes. What is it? Well, I came here to take a bath in the hot springs, but there aren’t any above this point, are there? There aren’t any hot springs, but the strait line of that hot spring is higher than here. Yeah. Eh, even higher. Yes. Is there a selection? There is. Yes. There is the strait line beneath the real sky. It was supposed to be the perfect place for a hunter’s journey, but… [Music] Here, it’s written. The sky above is the real sky. Yes. Above here, the strait line is somewhere around there. Can you see it? Y-yes. Well, if you say this is the real sky, I’ll think, yeah, I guess so, but it’s not the real sky I had in mind. Dragonflies are starting to fly, and there are signs of autumn. Well, just when I thought there was nothing I could do about the weather… Ah, I can see it, I can see the mountain. I can see it. I can see it. Yes, yes, yes. I can see it. Yes. I can see it. Yes. I can see it. Oh, it’s this far. Wow, it’s true. It’s really spreading. There’s the strait line beneath that wall right now, yes. So, the hot spring is drawn about 8km from the Genshu Line alone . There’s a town over there, right? That’s Take Onsen. That’s the only hot spring. Is it over there? Yes. Wait, they draw hot spring water from that distance? Yes. Yeah, it’s quite far. You could probably find it by digging around there. The real sky peeking through the gaps in the clouds. And underneath it, carefully selected music: [Music] 1,200 years ago, during the Heian period. Apparently, the name was well-known in today’s capital, hence the name. So, this trip starts from Atayama in Fukushima Prefecture. [Music] Masuda Okada Masuda’s journey around Fukushima’s Atayama. Strolling around the main street of Take Onsen. The first people I encountered in the hot spring town were some people on a tour. Hello. Hello. Is the Sausukadon delicious? It’s already quite famous. I’m sure you’ll find people like me here for the Sausukadon . How many times have you been here? How long have you been? About yesterday. Yesterday afternoon. Huh? What’s with this guy again from yesterday afternoon? That’s out of character. Are we heading out of the hot springs from here? I’m also curious about the Hatatake Onsen Saucekadon. [Laughter] A sweet smell is bothering me from this side. Oh, owner. Yes. This one, uh, which one is this? The third one. The third generation. You’re still young, aren’t you? No, you’re already over 50. Oh, I see. This place, uh, they put up a sign. What was it called? Um, Kurogayaki. Kurogayaki. Honestly, it’s definitely delicious. Grilled. Freshly grilled. Let’s eat. Here you go. Here you go. Oh, it smells so good. Wow, the eggs smell so good. Oh, yes. No, no, it’s tamagoyaki. Oh, it’s delicious. Um, this crispy part is really delicious. Yeah. After a while, um, it becomes moist. I see. The ingredients are just castella dough and a simmered broth. Its simple flavor, unchanged since 1955, is a specialty that could be said to symbolize Takega Onsen. [Music] By the way, Sora Gane, named after the mountain hut on Mt. Atata, is one of the charms of this town, and so is Mt. Atata. [Music] Yeah. Of course, if you come to Takega Onsen, you should take a dip in the hot springs . Yes. There’s a public bath under that traffic light. Yes. Yes. Yes. It’s special. Oh, do locals go there too? Yes. When I was little, I used to go there often . After school, or maybe with friends, we’d make plans at night . It was a luxury to go to the public bath there . It’s like a freshness. It’s famous for being hot. Oh, is it hot? Yes. Yeah . Oh, is the water thick? Excuse me, Takeno Yu. I heard it’s really hot? It’s hot. Yes. It’s hot. Yes. There’s a place where you can get water. Oh, that’s right. Yes. Just fill up and get in. Got it. This facility offers both daytime bathing and overnight stays. It’s both a beloved public bathhouse for locals and a traditional inn from back in the day. The term Showa retro really fits. [Music] [Music] It’s quite unusual for an inn from back in the day to be located above a public bathhouse, isn’t it ? There’s so much? It’s great. Please stop by. Oh, what would you like? Oh. No, it’s hot. Is your husband okay? Are you okay? No, it’s fine, it’s fine. Sorry about that. Your husband prefers it hot. No, no , I think the other guests probably prefer it hot. Oh, it’s hot. Oh, are you a craftsman? He’s been out on the job site more. [Music] Right, right, right. It’s been here for the past week. Oh, have you been there? That’s it. Yes. No, but your skin is so smooth. [ Music] It’s beautiful. Oh, it’s beautiful. That’s good. No , no, no, no, no. Oh, right. Yeah. My mom’s here, yes. If it’s just a little hot, it’s fine. My parents are next to me right now [music] 8484 Huh. Your skin is so smooth. So soft and smooth. So soft. Um, can I use it as background later? Oh, please. Wow. Yeah. Huh, that much? Wow. The water temperature is a whopping 51°. It’s really luxurious to have hot water drawn 8km from the mountains flowing freely. Ah, Matsuda-san, yes. Do you know Yumo-san? Yumori-san. Yes. Yumori-san is that one, right? The people who protect the hot water. Right. Well, yes. Protecting the hot water. Yes. Yes. Yes. Well, that’s what you think, well, basically, yes. Yes. Maybe, It’s about 4000m of water. Yeah. So it gets soggy. Oh, I see. If you don’t go for a week or two, the water gets soggy pretty quickly. Ah, it’s because the hot spring deposits get more and more clogged in the wind and it thins out. [Music] Oh, so your husband isn’t Yu-san? No. No. I’m grateful to Yu-san and I always go in. It’s wonderful. It’s hot, though. It does feel like you’re in a hot spring. But it’s better to take breaks while you’re in. Oh, Ochi-san. Oh, sorry, big brother. Yes . Mother. Yes. Which one is your daughter? It’s your mother. Mother . Your brother’s mother. That’s right. Go and get moving. Huh? You have time for that. Mother. The hot spring effect. Yes. Hmm. Are you healthy too? Yes. I heard that you and your family go to this hot spring every Sunday. You two are close. We shifted our lunchtime a little to go to the source activity. Excuse me. Welcome. Thank you. Please come in. Sorry. No, I just got here and there was a huge line. Yes. Yes. I just went to the hot spring. Yeah. How was the hot spring? It was hot, wasn’t it? Because it was hot . Well, the heat was one of the best parts. Yeah, it felt great. You can choose between fillet and loin, so I prefer fillet. Is that okay? Um, sure. Yes, please. Okay, I’ll prepare the fillet. Sorry to have kept you waiting. That’s it. Here you go. Thank you. Wow, it’s huge. Is this a wave? Yes. Is this a wave? Yes. Is it all like this? Yes. Well, it’s pretty standard. Wow, a sauce-ka bowl with two thick fillets. The price for this is 1,850 yen. [Music] The freshly fried fillet cutlet is seasoned with the traditional sauce passed down from the previous chef. [Applause] It’s incredibly thick again. Oh, here it comes. Oh, it’s delicious. It’s delicious. It’s delicious. It’s delicious. The sauce is good too. There’s more. Yes. Yes . I’ll eat it slowly. Yes. Please. That’s why those guys were waiting so long. It takes a while to eat this. That’s right. The turnover is slow, isn’t it? Well, to be honest, it has the worst turnover. [Laughter] Right. Yes. The restaurant opened in 1948, shortly after the war. [Music] Yes. Well, it was right after the war, so, well, the founder’s memories are that he just wanted people to eat their fill. This is the founder, my grandfather, I-san. Right after the war, they started serving rice curry. Then in 1955, they started serving sauce-kadon. He just wanted people to eat their fill. It seems that people, no matter the era, naturally smile when they see a large portion. [Music] Now, on to the final selection. Hello. I’m accompanying Yu-san to the spot next to the mountain, 1500m above sea level . I’ll be the leader today. Thank you, Takeda-san. Winter is here. When is the most difficult season in winter? It’s winter. Oh, you mean winter? Well, I’m glad it’s today. Mt. Atata is said to exceed 3m in winter. Even so, everyone at the mountain walks up the mountain every Monday while they work. In summer, you can drive partway up the mountain, but it’s still a constant haze. Ah, this is the view I saw yesterday. Ah, we’ve come this far. Wow. Yes, this is the real sky. It’s still not blue enough. It’s getting bluer. Is it bluer? Yes. It’s so beautiful, but we’re almost there. I can see it. I can see it. Is the hot spring flowing all the way through here? Yes. Yes, this is what we’re going for. This is the harshest part, and there are always things like this. The real reality. Yes, it’s beautiful. It’s so beautiful. It doesn’t smell much. How many kilometers is it from here? The hot water flows down 8kg below to Take Onsen over the course of about 40 minutes. It flows. Even though it’s a spring where hot water gushes forth, it’s not enough to just let it flow. This is the hot water inside the pipe. Ah, so this is how the pipe ends up getting narrower. There’s lots of hot spring deposits on the inside of the pipe. If you don’t clean it, it’ll get more and more clogged. If you don’t remove them once they soften, they won’t come off. It gradually hardens. Yes. This cleaning is called ‘Yunagashi’. Apparently it needs to be done once a week to keep the hot spring flowing smoothly . This is the stirrer. Yes. Special stirrer. Yes. If you put this in here, it will remove the deposits that are stuck around the can. Right. Ah, here it is. And it’s pulled from below. I heard that this hot spring didn’t stop even when the electricity and gas were cut off during the Great East Japan Earthquake. That’s because the people at Yuri continued to do this work as usual. Hey, we’re here. Is this handmade? It is handmade. Yes, this shape is the best. Yes. I see. Good, good. Yumori has work downstairs. [Music] That’s why we can enjoy the hot springs again today. After work, we head to Mori’s recommended open-air bath. [Music] Wow, it’s milky. So white. White. The heat is still as hot as ever. Hot. There it is. After cleaning, hot water flows down from the top of the mountain, turning the water pure white. That’s why every Monday when the water is drained is called Milky Day. [Music] Now, it feels like a hot spring. Elder, please give me a massage. How do you like today’s hot spring deposits? Yes. It’s not bad. Not bad, eh, not much yet . Yes. Well, after seeing the work being done, I realized that it’s because of them that hot springs like this are preserved. Yes. When I went into the hot springs yesterday and today, I felt a lot more grateful . It’s gratitude mud. Monday, every Monday. Are you listening, Leader? I guess the real thing doesn’t say much. After this, we’ll have all-you-can-eat peaches, my favorite. [Music] This [Music] Masuda Okada Masuda’s Fukushima, Fukushima City. [Music] Kajie are everywhere, taking advantage of the hot summers and cold winters of the region’s climate. National Route 13 is so popular that it’s also known as the Line. Good morning . Thank you for your help. The president is here. Oh, he’s flashy, President. Nice to meet you, President. Welcome . That’s totally peach. You’ve also drawn a peach. Thank you. Hold on a moment. Is this a famous character of this town? Not really. Surely not. Is this a peach wall picture? Wait, are there really that many varieties of peaches? Yes, there are. There are so many varieties of peaches, and we make about 20 to 25 varieties to continue harvesting for just under three months . We have a peach picking set. Ah. Oh, I see. So, if there’s a knife in here, that means it’s the last one you can eat on the spot. That’s right. Wow, it’s beautiful. This is Kawanaka. This is Kawanakajima Shiro. This is Kawanakajima Shiro, the president’s favorite. Yes. There is a ripening order . A ripening order. The best ones ripen from higher up. Ah, so we don’t rotate these from the place where the fire is applied . Yes . We harvest without using a knife or scissors. Oh, is that so? Well, the knife is only for the skin when you’re eating it, that’s it. Yes. So, hold the branch firmly and gently hold the peach. Yes. Then, pull straight along the branch to remove it. Oh, is that okay? Just this . Pull it along the branch without turning it. Like this. Ah, vertically, vertically, along the branch. Yes. Thank you. I’m listening to you. Vertical. I’m listening. Vertical, vertical. Pick it vertically. Thank you very much. It’s love, Akeda-san. And the harvesting tools too. Ah, I see. So that’s how it is. Ah, we picked it. Ah, that’s good. Yes. The sound is good too. We picked it. We picked it without any damage. Yes. There are no damages. After leaving it for about two days after picking, it becomes very ripe and soft, and wow, it’s a peachy peach. The face is the tastiest part. I think that’s even more delicious. Yes. Please. This, this is it. Wow. Thank you . It’s a shame to let the dripping juice go to waste. How about Fukushima Prefecture, and this area too? There has been an impact since the earthquake. Yes. That’s right. It’s been quite a while since the earthquake, several decades ago, but it still had an impact. Compared to before the earthquake, the number of customers was down to 10% immediately after the disaster, and we received a lot of support from everyone . Now, it feels like the impact has mostly worn off. Oh, and this peach parfait has been a big hit at the farm’s cafe for the past few years. [Music] It’s a luxurious flavor made with whole peaches, which is only possible at SNS Photo Farm. It’s amazing. Yes. After the peaches, the season for pears, grapes, and apples arrives. It’s the best, isn’t it? Think of it as a hot spring. It’s the perfect combination. For me, at least. I had n’t heard of hot springs until I came here this time, so I realized that there are still many wonderful hot spring towns I haven’t discovered . Everyone is so wonderful, isn’t they? Yes. It looked like the real sky at the end. [Music]
