Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has been welcomed at the Office of the Prime Minister of Japan with a guard of honor and national anthems of Kazakhstan and Japan.

The leaders of the official delegations were introduced following the ceremonial event, The Caspian Post reports via Kazakh media.

Earlier, Tokayev held talks with Emperor Naruhito, praising Japan’s discipline and resilience and emphasizing the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries. The Emperor also hosted an official reception in honor of the Kazakh president.

During his visit, Tokayev visited Tokyo’s Meiji Jingu Shrine, met with Kazakh citizens studying and working in Japan, and is expected to meet representatives of major Japanese businesses. Over $3.7 billion in commercial agreements are set to be signed.

In exclusive comments, Japan’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan, Yasumasa Iijima, highlighted the future of bilateral cooperation, the development of the Middle Corridor, business initiatives, environmental challenges in the Caspian region, and joint efforts on nuclear disarmament.

Kazakhstan’s Serik Meirmanov, newly appointed Vice President at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, also commented on the significance of Tokayev’s visit for strengthening ties between the two nations.
