Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov left for Japan with a working visit to participate in the first Summit of the Dialogue «Central Asia + Japan».
Officials saw off the head of the state at the International airport of the capital. The traditionally friendly Turkmen-Japanese dialogue serves today as a visible example of strategic cooperation based on principles of mutual respect and equality that makes a reliable basis for realisation of large-scale joint projects. The consecutive rise of such multiplane partnership, differing with its high level of mutual trust, is defined to a significant extent by the well-thought foreign policy laid by National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag and successfully pursued under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
A major landmark, which completely has transformed the interstate dialogue, was the first official visit of Hero-Arkadag to Japan in December, 2009 which had not simply opened a new page in the history of mutual relations, but had also enabled to build a basis of the concept of industrial partnership focused on its long term.
As to interaction of Turkmenistan and Japan within international structures, it bears a systematic character and is dictated by interests of general sustainable development. Active cooperation of two countries in the format of the dialogue «Central Asia+ Japan» clearly speaks of it.
The coherence of national interests is reflected in realised large-scale projects, which define today the regional agenda in the field of energy and ecology. Thanks to close cooperation with leading Japanese companies – «Kawasaki Heavy Industries», “Mitsubishis Corporation”, «Itochu» and «Sojitz», large industrial facilities, which have no analogues in the region, have been built. The unique factory in the world for production of non-polluting gasoline from natural gas in Ovadan-depe can serve an obvious example of such partnership.
The commissioning of the polymeric factory in Kiyanly as well as the urea factory in Garabogaz became a logic continuation of such cooperation of strategic character: realisation of the given projects promoted not only increase of the export potential of Turkmenistan, but also attainment of a new stage of industrial development of national economy.
In the light of bilateral interaction, the special attention is also given to intensification of humanitarian cooperation. In this regard, the opening of the Oguz Khan University of Engineering Technologies of Turkmenistan where training is conducted according Japanese educational standards in Ashgabat, became a significant step in training of a new generation of the specialists promoting long-term partnership. Besides it, in higher and professional educational institutions of Turkmenistan the Japanese language is taught, Turkmen students undergo training in leading universities of the friendly country that as a whole forms the intellectual bridge connecting the youth of two states.
The present visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Japan – the second one in the current year. The first visit of the head of the state to the Land of the Rising Sun took place, as known, in April 2025. Then, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the solemn event on the occasion of National Day of our country at the World fair in Osaka. On the sidelines of the visit, a number of bilateral summits also took place. By the way, the national pavilion of our country in the «EXPO-2025» was opened first and became one of the most visited ones.
Thus, constructive and multiplane cooperation, the basis of which was laid by Hero-Arkadag, today, being filled with the new content, under the leadership of head of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov properly proceeds.
… In few hours, the presidential airliner landed at the International airport of Tokyo – Haneda decorated with national flags of countries-participants of the Summit.
