The news: Data centre provider AirTrunk has announced plans for a second hyperscale data centre in Osaka, Japan.
The numbers: The planned OSK2 will deliver up to 100 megawatts of IT capacity, which will be designed to meet growing demand from global technology companies and AI workloads.
The context: Located in East Osaka, it complements the existing 20 megawatt OSK1 facility in West Osaka. This brings AirTrunk’s total hyperscale platform capacity to 530 megawatts and contributes to the broader USD8 billion ($12.1 billion) pipeline of existing and planned projects.
So far, AirTrunk has invested USD1.57 billion since entering the Japanese market. The company employs about 100 people and said to expects to double its head count “in the near future”.
OSK2 marks AirTrunk’s 14th data centre across six Asia Pacific and Middle East markets.
