OSAKA (TR) – Osaka Prefectural Police have arrested a 21-year-old deliveryman following a hit-and-run incident in Sakai City earlier this month that resulted in injuries to a female bicyclist.
At around 5:30 p.m., a van driven by Yuto Yamauchi allegedly struck a woman, 54, as she rode her bicycle on a road in Kita Ward, causing her to tumble to the ground.
During the crash, the woman fell over and suffered minor injuries, including bruises to her chest and legs. The injuries will require two weeks to heal, police said.

During questioning on suspicion of attempted murder, Yamauchi partially denied the charges. He said, “I got into an argument with a woman while I was working as a delivery person. I cut off her bicycle, and she hit a wall and fell off, but I don’t remember making contact.”
As the incident unfolded, Yamauchi is suspected of yelling at the woman through the passenger-side window. “I’ll kill you!” he shouted.
After the incident Yamauchi drove off. However, police tracked him down through an examination of security camera footage and other sources.
