DTO/NDO- The Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka (Japan), in coordination with the Vietnamese community in the Kansai region, on December 16 organised a launch ceremony for a fundraising programme to support people in central Viet Nam who have suffered severe losses caused by storms and floods.
The programme was a meaningful activity reflecting the spirit of solidarity, mutual support and the Vietnamese tradition of “the fortunate helping the less fortunate”, while also spreading the humanitarian spirit and sense of social responsibility of the Vietnamese community and Japanese friends towards Viet Nam.

Attending the ceremony were the Consul General and staff of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka; representatives of associations and organisations of the Vietnamese community in the Kansai region; a large number of overseas Vietnamese; and the participation and support of many Japanese friends who love Viet Nam, demonstrating deep sharing and empathy with the difficulties and losses of people in central Viet Nam, especially those in the South Central region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Consul General of Viet Nam in Osaka, Ngo Trinh Ha, expressed his profound sympathy over the serious damage caused by storms and floods in the central provinces. He emphasised that in difficult times, the spirit of national solidarity and compatriotship has always been a great source of strength helping the country overcome challenges.
He called on the Vietnamese community in Japan, associations and Japanese friends to continue to uphold the spirit of mutual support and actively join hands to support people in central Viet Nam through practical actions.
The Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka said it would regularly update information on the storm and flood situation and the support needs of affected localities; closely coordinate with relevant agencies and organisations to ensure that the receipt, consolidation and transfer of donations are carried out promptly, transparently and to the right beneficiaries, contributing to helping people quickly overcome the consequences of natural disasters and stabilise their lives.
The launch ceremony took place in a warm and heartfelt atmosphere, demonstrating the close bond between Viet Nam’s diplomatic mission in Japan and the Vietnamese community in the area, as well as the goodwill of Japanese friends towards Viet Nam.
On the launch day alone, the Organising Committee received more than 300 million VND in donations from individuals and collectives. This was not only a noble gesture providing material and spiritual support to people in central Viet Nam, but also helped spread a positive image of the overseas Vietnamese community as united, compassionate, responsible and always oriented towards their homeland and country.
Previously, in early October 2025, the Vietnamese Consulate General in Osaka also launched a fundraising programme to support people in Viet Nam affected by Storm No. 10. This activity attracted the participation of representatives of associations, businesses and a large number of overseas Vietnamese in the Kansai region.
