STARDOM megastar Saya Kamitani was named the recipient of the Tokyo Sports MVP 2025 Award. She had tough competition in the form of Pro Wrestling NOAH’s OZAWA and IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita but in the end it was Kamitani who walked away with the prize.

Kamitani has had a stellar year as she held the World of STARDOM Championship for all of 2025 and has made seven successful title defenses. On April 27th, she was involved in an epic career vs. career match with Tam Nakano in which she emerged victorious thus forcing Nakano to retire.

Kamitani campaigned for the better part of the last few months that she deserved to be the first woman to win the Tokyo Sports MVP 2025 award and Tokyo Sports has agreed.

Saya Kamitani made these comments following her historic accomplishment:

“This is the best career and the best condition I’ve ever been in during my pro-wrestling life. Honestly, I don’t feel like I can lose to anyone. As long as Saya-sama is the top of STARDOM, things are secure. For 52 years of the Pro-Wrestling Awards, the focus has always been on the men. But the fact that Saya-sama won the MVP award has shattered all preconceived notions. From here on out, Saya-sama will elevate pro-wrestling to the mainstream and take it to places no one has even imagined.” (source Tokyo Sports)
