Kuzey Irak’ta DOLAR Basıyorlar – ERBİL PARA ÇARŞISI

For example, the man behind me is carrying money in a cart right now. I’ve never seen anything like this in my life. How many dollars is that? Oh, 16,000 dollars. You know a little Turkish. Open it up, son, right, President. Thank you, thank you. Look, if you could take the money, you could take it with you. It’s so fresh. Fresh, all fresh. Gek, man, would you come here on vacation? I’ve only seen one place in the world where they carry money in a wheelbarrow . Okay, okay. Okay, okay. Okay. I don’t understand. The money here is literally garbage, I said. Oh, very good. Actually, this is a dollar exchange. See? That’s how good it is. People are trying to treat me right. I’ve heard that all the time. The country’s biggest income, of course, is oil. The world’s 5th largest oil reserves are here. The number one country is Venezuela. Enjoy the movie. I wish you a great Iraq trip too. Here we go. Turkey’s leading water purification brand, Aura Seblon Unix, presents it. Ladies and gentlemen, I’m Deniz Pehlivan. Welcome to the Iraqi leg of my world tour, from a place like this. How are you? I hope everything is wonderful. Today, I’ll be wandering around Erbil, Iraq, without any such plans. I’ve picked a few spots , and I want to show you them. In the previous episode, I explained how I arrived in Iraq and how we first arrived in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government in Northern Iraq, which we managed to reach without being taken away . In fact, Instagram is chasing a dream, and currently, such controversial situations are at play. Because, as you know, this is Iraq , but where I am, the autonomous regions and the administrators are Barzani. Just as I explained to you when I went to Moldova that the Gagaus Turks there are special regions, the Transinistrian special region—that they are independent in their internal affairs and dependent on the central government in their external affairs—the same applies here. There’s been some debate about this, but this is the reality of this country. Because this region isn’t officially recognized by the United Nations, meaning it’s not among the 197 official countries, I’m actually officially in Iraq. But since it’s a Kurdistan Special Administrative Region, it’s the northern part of the country, and Northern Iraq, I mentioned Erbil as its capital. This has been a topic of considerable debate on Instagram , but we are responsible for explaining the governance systems of the countries we visit, taking into account their internal affairs and demographics. This is my job, and I’m obligated to share my observations and lessons learned with you in a completely unbiased manner. This is the story and governance of this place . So, today we’ll continue our tour of Erbili together. I’ll also show you some very interesting places, if I can find them . Now, before we start the video, as you know, your likes and comments are invaluable to me for doing this sustainably . It’ll take a lot of your time, but it’s a valuable detail for our algorithm to work and recommend our videos. That’s why Deniz, we’re following along. I’d be very happy if you’d leave comments like “Your Iraq trip” or “World tours” and like the video. So , ladies and gentlemen, we’ve entered the country. If the tea and beans are ready, we can slowly begin our journey. Enjoy the show. I hope I have a wonderful trip to Iraq too. Here we go. Our trip begins with the support of Aura Sebon water purifiers. We started the day. Morning. There’s a famous market here. It ‘s called the Dollar Market . I’d always seen it online, but I’d never considered going. Then I looked it up online and it was in Erbil. I was looking it up. I couldn’t find it, but I mean, you can’t find everything you need because of the alphabet . They told me to take that overpass. I asked someone. I’ll try my luck. An escalator wasn’t working. Let’s take it that way. This is my second day in Erbil. I get around very easily by taxi. You can go to many places for $2 or $3, and everything is paved, and the roads are wide, but of course, you don’t see the cleanliness of the Gulf countries. My first impressions are better than Iran, but of course, it can’t even compare to Dubai, Kuwait, or Qatar. You can feel the dust and the age in the air like that. So, based on my first impressions, is it worth coming to Erbil for a holiday? You can tell me. I’m in a place like this right now. Look, there’s a Turkish brand called Yaşar Bey. See? You can see Turkish brands in many places like this. I called a taxi. I’m waiting. In a place like this, a dollar will take me to the city center. This is what it’s like. Peace be upon you and God bless you. There was almost an accident. They drive really bad. Really bad. Traffic is chaotic. Chaos, or maybe even congestion . Yes. Exactly. Exactly. This is how we go. Let’s see. Now, this place doesn’t have an official stock exchange or official currency. After all, they use Iraqi dinars, but they’ve set up an exchange office in markets like this. I’m going there right now. I’ve seen it a lot online, and a few of my YouTuber friends have filmed those places. I want to experience what it’s like to see it in person . But there’s always chaos and the smell of sewage, as you can see. I mean, there’s an endless sewage smell in the city. Especially in the center. I’m literally driving through garbage. The same, the same, the same, the same, the same. Okay. Okay. Okay, okay. I don’t understand. I’m leaving. I entered a market like this. I’m moving on now. You can find anything you want around here. I mean, all the markets are very lively, and the city is 24/7. People especially go out in the evening. Many places are closed in the morning. It’s very difficult to get around without knowledge. You can’t communicate. They don’t speak English either. You need to know Kurdish. There are Turkmens. You can speak Turkish. I showed you in the previous episode. There’s a lot of people living here. I was the only one who got along with them. Oh, this place. It should be here. In a place like this, but we’ll try. Which perfume, which cigarette, which electronic device are imitations here, and the prices are so reasonable. I’ll show you those too. I mean, they’ve done it better than the original . Oh, this is this street, man. All the money is in the street. I’ve never seen a place with money in this many streets. Look there. The entire street is literally covered in money-counting machines. And all of this is actually a small exchange office. Look. Take it and you’ll lose the money. I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. The people behind me are yelling and haggling over money. This is actually a dollar exchange. You can see a live exchange right now on the street. A man just came and said, “Don’t withdraw.” That’s why I’m explaining this in a way. It’s incredible. I’ve seen something like this for the first time . Amar Omar. Look, I’ve actually been in a market like this, but I can’t quite see what this place says, I don’t even know the alphabet. That’s why I can’t even read its name. It’s like this. Money here is pure garbage. Look, it’s carried in arms. A moment ago, a man held the money in his arms. He was walking down the street carrying it. Look, they’re the same. Everyone’s rushing around trading, carrying bundles of money . I just gave my brother 5 dinars to withdraw this money. It’s about 3 dollars and 5 dinars. How much? How much is a dollar? How much is a dollar? 10,000 dollars. Huh? How many dollars are there? 16,000 dollars. The man behind me, for example, is carrying money in a car right now. Incredible. Look, look at this. I’ve never seen a place where money is transported in a wheelbarrow. You’d think he’s carrying lettuce. If anyone has seen a place like this before, please write in the comments. I’ve seen it for the first time. It was an interesting experience. Brother, look, it never ends. I went outside. There’s still money here. But at the same time, life is so intertwined that there’s a butcher right next door. Everything’s on the street, they’ve put their heads on ice like this. Welcome, brother. Hello . How are you? Are you okay? I’m good. How are you? Rasun. Brother, it’s very fresh. All fresh, all fresh. Customs, brother. There are a lot of animals around here. Isn’t it very plentiful? Yes. There’s lamb. How much, for example? A kilo of lamb per kilo of lamb. 18 dinars. 18 dinars. 18 dinars. Yes. 13 dollars. I noticed. You have a lot of water, you know? Maşallah. 13 dollars. 13 dollars, right? Good. Thank you. Welcome . Thank you. Thank you. What was your name? Deniz. My name is Deniz. On YouTube. On YouTube. Welcome. We were together. I’m filming here. I’m traveling. Tea, tea is ours. Oh, don’t miss it. I’m going to dinner. Thanks . Thank you. Brother, have you seen this? They invite us like this all the time. They’re constantly offering something. For example, you pay for something. For example, you eat, you’ll pay the bill. They say, “It’s on us.” And they have this kind of naivety. I really liked it. Something else caught my eye here, too. They’re selling chicken feet. I don’t know if they’re eaten here, but you know, Asian countries love chicken feet. In fact, we, as Turkey , export a lot of chicken feet to Asian countries. Because they don’t eat them here. Look, I really liked this place. I hadn’t been here in the previous episode. It really feels more like a market. That Kayseri market place was very touristy. This place is more connected to the locals. I love places like that. Sometimes when you go somewhere and you’re in such chaos, you want to look up at the sky. Then you look around. You think, “Where am I?” That’s exactly how I feel right now. I mean, after Japan, I returned to Turkey, rested, and now, when you’re in such chaos, you think, “What? You feel like you’re traveling back in time . You’re one step ahead, the other step behind. That feeling is wonderful. May God grant you even more progress. I’ve managed to do this much. I’m so glad it can be a guide for you. But really, you should start traveling to nearby countries and try to understand the world. A house, a car, and many other things can be bought over time, but you should travel while you’re young. I feel this more and more every year , and I definitely recommend it to you. Have you noticed anything interesting ? I mean, people who see me filming a video look and try to come to me. For some reason, they’re very curious about it. I smelled a banana. The banana of my childhood. I was going to buy one here. My brother bought one. Now, 1 dollar is equivalent to 1.3-1.4 dinars here. One kilogram of bananas is also 1 dinar. So, I bought one. The kid said, “No way, it’s haram!” and chased after me . He gave me my change. So, you can buy about a kilo of ours for about 30 lira . Let’s see if it tastes as good as it smells. I’m curious. It’s beautiful. I’m wandering around the market. Look at the beautiful olives. There’s such a beautiful abundance on the stalls. The stall design and variety of products are similar to ours. You can easily buy a baklava and eat it right on the street. They sell many things right in the middle of the street. Of course, this place has a long way to go in terms of development. As you can see from the garbage around, most things are sold on the street. That’s why it’s handled, it’s touched a lot. I think this has been the fate of this region, which hasn’t changed for many years. So, if you’re sensitive to this, you might not feel comfortable . I’m leaving now. Look , there are bags of money on my left. It was a beautiful market, the fabric of a country and a city . My God, look at this place. Money is literally within reach. This place is so safe. I mean, if all this money is on the streets, it must be a safe place. That’s why I was so nervous about it before coming here, but I’ve never had any security issues. I love visiting markets to understand a country and a city. This place is a truly enjoyable place where you can see the traces of the people’s lives, where daily life flows . Let’s continue exploring. The weather is so beautiful today, it’s wonderful to walk around. Everything happens on the streets here, you know? Look, everything is religious, food, drink, and commerce—everything you can imagine is literally flowing on the sidewalk . There are some really nice fruit juice shops here. I want a nice one. This place looks pretty clean. I can’t trust the street vendors. They might be dirty because of the glasses and all that. Peace be upon you . What should we drink? Look at the oranges . They have everything you could want. B is like this. This friend did something like this. I paid 3,000 dinars for it. 2.5 dollars. Very nice. Now let’s get our energy going. We’ll go up to the top a bit. We’ll soon be able to watch the city from above. Before you come here, you have prejudices. It’s like Iran. For example, in Iran, women are required to cover their heads. But here, I saw so many women wearing their makeup, their hair down, their tops down, and dressed casually that my prejudices were instantly shattered. So if you ‘re thinking something like that, you’d probably be wrong, because we’re in a Middle Eastern country . Keep that in mind. Now, I’ve seen the city in the previous section, Stadel. I brought you to the entrance of the castle they mentioned. This time, I’m going to take you inside the castle, and I want to tell you about it and we’ll tour its interior together. Come on. But it’s really neglected, I mean, I’m at the most famous historical site. Everywhere is filthy and disorganized. You know my opinions. I never take sides. I’m completely transparent. I’ll tell you what I see. They haven’t been able to properly protect their historical sites. It’s unbelievable. They said it was closed yesterday, and they said it was closed today. I can’t get in. There’s a textile museum inside. It’s called the Kurdish Textile Museum. It’s supposed to be a museum where you can see the products produced here, but they won’t let you in. There’s nothing to do. I sat down again, taking in the view of Erbilim Square. What should I do? Mine’s a bit like a caravan lined up on the road. I’ve been wandering around without any plans right now. But I don’t understand why it’s been closed for two days. Now I’m just hanging out here and relaxing. I bought bars like this for my fortune while I was taking in the view . This is the brand of our Fete. You can now buy Servet’s products both at Fetek stores in Göcek and online . They have bars like this, but you can also find many other regional products, tahini, and sugar-free Turkish delights , whatever you’re looking for, both in their stores and online. I’ll leave the details to you. You can find them there too. For example, you can find these pistachio bars in many chain supermarkets now. I’m happy to share them with you because they’re a source of pride for our Fethe. I even promoted them in Bali and Singapore. Thankfully, they supported my world tour. For example, I buy a bar like this and put it in my bag. When I’m low on energy, I take it out and eat it, and it’s delicious. I advertised it like this. It’s perfectly fine. I can wholeheartedly recommend it. It’s very, very good. Now, let’s go downstairs and visit the remaining spots. I’ll leave the Servet website to you. You can find it there. I’d like to thank them for sponsoring my world tour . Let’s see, our trip to Erbil continues. Look, there were pictures of Saddam on that money. I saw that for the first time. They love döner so much here, too, they make huge döner kebabs. The one on the left is meat, the one on the right is chicken. The food and drink are exactly the same. There’s no difference. What brand are you looking for? Dolca Gabbana, Nike, Adidas, New Balance? They’ve made similar ones for all of them in the market. Smell. Hello. Hello. Hello. The scent thing is wonderful. In Arab countries , these perfume shops and fragrance shops always smell like this, and that scent wafts onto the streets. You can’t help but wonder where this smell is coming from . Oh, let’s get lost here. What will happen? Second-hand phones are everywhere. I mean, I’ve never seen another country where so many phones and money are on the streets . Everything is on the streets. Look, they’re all selling phones under glass counters. You can just come and see what kind of phones they have now? Registered, unregistered, brand new, second-hand, I don’t know. You can buy them like that. What is this? It smells nice. It looks like diaper rash. What is this? What is this? This burgun. Burgun. Burgun. What is it made of? Flour. Flour. Flour. Are you Turkmen, brother? Flour. Flour. Flour. It smells nice. I’m full. Thank you. Let’s invite you next time . Don’t be skimpy. Look at it. I just ate. There’s something missing, brother. Thank you. Thank you. It’s great. Thank you, brother. My love, my love. Thank you, brother. Good evening. Good. Good evening to you too. Thank you. Thank you. See? That’s how good it is, people say “my love, my love” and try to offer you treats. I’ve always heard this since I arrived. For example, when I went to many countries, people would get uncomfortable when I was filming with my phone, camera, or whatever. But here, you don’t feel that at all, and everyone greets you. They join the camera very politely, without any pushback. I mean, if you go to Asia, they do this and that. I’ve never experienced that here. It was very interesting to me. In fact, I was afraid of it. I’ll have that problem when I came here. Here, I want to take a secret picture. But with peace of mind, you know, many in Europe Even when I was getting nervous on the ground, filming, and being criticized, I never got criticized here. And let me show this one last time. Everyone is selling phones here right now. This place is like a phone market. These are shots you’ll rarely see in the world. When you walk around here, you wonder if there are any of those phones left. They have such old phones; forget about touchscreens and all that, they even have phones from 20 years ago. Oh, there’s the 3310, too. Nokia, Nokia 33 , look, they have everything. No Nokia, no Nokia? Nokia. Ok. Ok. They said let’s show some old phones. I guess the uncle didn’t show them. That’s all I get because. What did I tell you? This place is autonomous, has its own parliament, its own president, and its own flag. That’s their flag. That ‘s why it’s independent in foreign affairs, free in its internal affairs, and has its own administration. Erbil, which is within Iraq’s borders, is the capital of the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government, but it’s not spelled Erbil. It’s spelled Hevler. I mentioned that this was my first time in the Middle East, but for me, it was actually one of the two or three missing pieces of the puzzle. I’ve seen Jordan and Iran before, but I haven’t been to Syria, Israel, or Palestine. I haven’t seen these countries yet. This is my first time in Iraq. That’s why I’m researching a lot, reading online, and watching videos to prepare this video for you. Of course, we’ll see what else awaits us over time, but so far, this is my second day, and your second part isn’t bad. Actually, 75% of Iraq’s 45 million population is Arab, especially Kurds and Turkmens in the north. Turkey lies in the north, Iran in the east, Syria in the west, and Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in the south. I plan to go all the way to Basra, and you know how rich the Persian Gulf countries are. This is a country that hasn’t received that wealth. It’s just like Syria. They call Erbil a smaller version of Dubai, but I don’t think it’s related. There’s a tremendous difference. The Gulf countries have flown by, but the other Gulf states are still stagnating. And on my next itinerary, I want to go all the way to Basra and see Kuwait, too. I also want to see Bahrain. I haven’t seen them yet. Hopefully, I’ll show you. The country’s biggest source of income is, of course, oil. The world’s fifth-largest oil reserves are here. Venezuela ranks first. And Venezuela is currently experiencing one of the world’s largest economic crises. You know where there’s oil? Eventually, there’s always trouble. What a coincidence, right? Iraq is one of them. This place has such a rich history. Just think, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the world’s greatest wonders, is officially said to be in Iraq. Because it’s not proven, and yet, many important scientists in fields like astronomy and physics have emerged from here, from these lands, like Al-Khwarizmi. Despite this, the country has stagnated because it can’t escape war, chaos, and constant uncertainty . The world’s two most important rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, flow through here . So, in fact, Mesopotamia possesses a wealth of both cultural and geographical riches. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen truly magnificent development in this land in the last few centuries. It’s also known as the land of tears . As you know, Karbala is in Iraq, and when I go to Baghdad, I want to go there. It’s a very important religious site for Shia Muslims, the second largest pilgrimage site in the world. So, when I do, I’ll share my observations and knowledge from there. That’s why I wanted to delve into these details a little while describing the country . Again, I absolutely do not support or take sides in any political, religious, or religious sense . I love people for who they are. So , I would be very grateful if you could leave positive and positive comments below this video, encouraging us to live peacefully, holistically, and humanely, without breaking hearts . I’ve been walking for a while, by the way. I’ve already walked around the entire bazaar. I’m slowly starting to get hungry. There is one What are we going to eat here now? Of course we’ll have kebabs. Let’s have kebabs. Look, this restaurant caught my eye. I thought, if it’s been around since 1975, it must be good. Let’s use my right to do so. Let’s eat here too. I ate at Yasin’s the other day. Let’s see this. I swear, I just sat down. I ordered a kebab and a liver. The brother speaks Turkish. We can get along. They serve treats like this around here. Soup and stuff. I ate somewhere last night too. They served lentil soup there. Like red pepper soup, you know. Tomato soup. They make it like this. The engine room is working. You know a little Turkish. Then the Turks leave. A lot of them come. Tourists come. Lots of tourists. That’s why we’re practicing. Son, keep an eye on us, President. Thank you, thank you. Teacher, you brother. Thank you, brother. Whatever we want, look. There’s Adana Adana. There’s Kuşbaşı. There’s Aşiş. There’s Jelly. There’s Yukarı kafa. What more could you ask for? There’s kidney. There’s kidney too. There’s pilaf. Pilaf from kustan. Pilaf in a taak . Boiled red meat and water. Is this an old restaurant? Isn’t it old ? It says 1975. Oh yes, the date. Look at the date. Your father. Father? Yes. Yes. Father. My father. Your father. Okay. Brother. Okay brother. Thank you. Thank you. Good brother. Here you go. The food is very, very good. I ordered liver and kebab. It smells very good. I wanted to eat somewhere different this time . After all, the more I experience it, the more I’ll have the chance to compare. I want to show you something interesting here. They come with pickles like this, and the pickles are this color. Orange. A little sweet. And everywhere, without exception, they serve warm, freshly baked bread like this. It’s a bit more like a bread version of yufka. Like this. Let’s see what the kebab here is like. This is also very good. H. I also ordered liver. Oh, it’s very good. Look, the liver shocked me even more. I drink ayran, as you know. It’s a plastic bottle, at that. Homemade ayran. It’s amazing. Just look at it. It immediately separates. Look at it. This is what kebabs are like. I never imagined such a good place would appear. Bon appetit. The food. Look, I loved it so much I went and ordered two more skewers. Liver and heart. In other words, it far exceeded my expectations and is very close to our palate. I felt like I was eating kebab liver in Adana, Antep, or Urfa. It was wonderful. We are a society that tries to finish half a loaf of bread and meatballs at the same time as ayran. As a Middle Eastern society. What am I doing? In Japan, ramen, sushi, Kobe, steak. Our essence is in this, it’s so delicious. This suddenly came to mind after Japan. Okay, brother. Everything is great, brother. Say lamb, lamb, lamb. All of it, all of it was lamb. You have so much lamb, maşallah, plentiful. Thank you. This place is full of lamb. How is lamb so expensive here? I won’t comment. You can comment. It looks delicious. I loved Iraq so much. So, welcome to Iraq. This is the world I eat. This is heart. But liver is even more delicious. I can’t remember many places I’ve eaten abroad with so much love and enthusiasm in recent years . I can’t count them. It was wonderful. I was stuffed, and they didn’t ask for the bill when I left. But of course, I paid my bill. They always say it’s a culture here, like, “It’s one of us.” You won’t see that anywhere else. I’m using the West as an example. When I go there and say I’m Turkish, there’s no hospitality or “welcome brother” here. It’s in the East. It’s in the Middle East. That’s why I felt that here, too. I felt the same in Azerbaijan. They were very hospitable there too. I’ll put Iran on my list, too. I really liked that feeling of welcome from people and how they always say “I’m Turkish.” I’m full and well-fed. I’m wandering around the market now. I saw this place on a YouTuber. It’s foreign. It’s called Mam Halil Çayhane Cafe, but they call it a teahouse. In their own language, they call it a historic teahouse. Let me go inside and show you. I’ll have tea here now. Everywhere, anyway. Hello. Hello. You see photos of famous people. These are photos of their leaders. Let’s enjoy some tea here. Brother, can I have some tea? They put sugar directly into the tea here. See it at the bottom? There’s a kilo of sugar. In most Arab countries, they drink everything with sugar. For example, in Jordan, they add sugar while it’s still brewing. They really like sweets. It’s actually very harmful. It’s like sherbet. How do they drink this tea? The sugar doesn’t make the tea taste good . Anyway, let’s enjoy the authentic atmosphere. I’m in a place like this right now. And we’ve come to the end of another day. Here I am, in Erbil, Iraq . I tried to share what I know with you, but also show you these interesting markets, bazaars, and lifestyles that I think are different for me . I’m on a trip to a region where I came with prejudices, and so far, all those prejudices , both in terms of security and the rudeness of the people, have been shattered. In the next episode, I plan to show you a very different place, but I haven’t planned it yet . I have to get up early and prepare for a new journey tomorrow. As I said , my goal is to reach Basra on my journey, starting from here; I plan to show you the Persian Gulf and then leave the country. There’s a whole world to tell, to show, to experience. Thanks for watching. That’s all for now. I don’t know which city we’ll continue in the next episode . I’ll have a surprise for you too. See you in that episode. Take care. Goodbye. Greetings from Iraq. Brought to you by Aura Sevilon Unix, Turkey’s leading water treatment brand.
