The Japanese government plans to deploy civilian specialists to a U.S.-led coordination centre monitoring the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, Asahi reports, citing sources.
Participation by Japan will focus solely on humanitarian efforts, with the team including regional experts from international humanitarian organisations and NGOs, particularly those experienced in infrastructure reconstruction.
On December 5, Ambassador Okubo Takeshi in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, visited the Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) located in central Israel and exchanged views with relevant parties. He stated that Japan, in coordination with relevant countries and organisations, would contribute toward the improvement of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, early recovery and reconstruction, and the implementation of a two-state solution.
