Marriott International will open Courtyard by Marriott Kyoto Station in the autumn of 2026.
The hotel will be developed in collaboration with JR Central (Central Japan Railway Company), JR Central Real Estate, and JR-Central Hotels, becoming the second hotel in this brand in Kyoto City operated by the JR Central Group.
The building will have 9 floors above ground and 1 basement level, with a total of 270 guest rooms. The design will express motifs of traditional Kyoto townhouses (machiya), while depicting the majestic mountains surrounding Kyoto on the walls to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere.
The interior design concept is “Collection of Kyoto Stories,” which brings together the history that Kyoto has woven from past to present and expresses new Kyoto stories that will be passed down beyond time. The entrance and lobby are based on the aesthetic of traditional Japanese architecture and are composed like a library, featuring crafts, artworks, and books.
The property will also feature an all-day dining restaurant, a café & bar, and a fitness center. The architectural design is by Yamashita Sekkei and JR Central Consultants, while Hirsch Bedner Associates is in charge of the interior design.
