I have been avoiding using the Golden Curry / Vermont boxes with the roux cubes just due to sodium content and various additives and preservatives that I'd rather not eat.

I have been buying curry powder, mixing it up with garam masala (from Simply Organic), flour, and butter in order to make the roux.

Lately, I tried making curry from a curry powder I bought at a local Asian grocery store (something from China) and it turned out really bad.

Then, I got this and it was quite good! So that has been my go-to for a while now and I know, I know – it's more Indian than Japanese but I'm certainly no connoisseur.

In any case, my curry powder tin is out and I want to get some more curry powder and the Spicewalla brand linked above is $10 a tin which gives me cause to pause.

Is there another curry powder mix that is clean, gives good flavors, and is reasonably priced? Please don't tell me to make my own as I don't want to have to pay the upfront cost of buying all of those spices and mixing them all up properly.

I have also found this, the S&B brand curry powder – does anyone know if it's any good? I also can't figure out how to buy it off of the website.
