Good morning everyone, this is Mona😊 I’m in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, early this morning. The destination of this trip is Chichibu, beautifully colored in autumn! It is easily accessible from the city center, yet it is a place where we can enjoy the rich nature and countryside atmosphere. Wow, big windows and unusual yellow seats! The inside of the train feels very clean. It’s exciting✨ Here we go! I’ve been spending busy days lately. Today I feel like relaxing and enjoying nature. I have arrived at Seibu-Chichibu Station. I’m transferring to a local train. I really love this nostalgic atmosphere. I have arrived at Nagatoro Station. The retro wooden station building tickle my wanderlust♡ Now, let’s head to my first destination! This is a shrine with a history of about 1,900 years. It has long been known as a powerful power spot. What beautiful autumn leaves. Combined with its solemn atmosphere, I can’t help but stare at it. Let’s go and worship. There are so many Omikuji (paper with your fortune written on it). I think I’ll give it a try. It was Shokichi (a small good fortune). There’s a shop! Wow, those Dango (Japanese skewered rice dumplings) look delicious♡ The good flavor of Miso and the chewy texture are wonderful😋 Now, let’s head to my next destination. It’s quite a steep slope. Wow, beautiful♡ It’s about a 5-minute ropeway ride to the summit. I have arrived at the summit station. We can get a panoramic view of the city of Chichibu and the mountains. There is also a viewing platform that just opened in July this year. There is the inner shrine (Okumiya) of Hodosan Jinja Shrine here, which I visited earlier. A peaceful time is flowing. Let’s worship this place as well. What a wonderful place. My tired heart is slowly recovering. This is a lively shopping street with a nostalgic atmosphere. It continues for about 400m to the “Nagatoro Iwadatami,” a national natural monument. We can enjoy eating our way around and looking for souvenirs. I’m getting hungry. Maybe I’ll eat something. Nagatoro’s specialty, sweetfish, is undoubtedly delicious! Apparently this is a popular shop. Juicy sausage with salty cheese! I want a beer🤣 I have arrived at the “Nagatoro Iwadatami,” a national natural monument. It is said to be a geologically very precious place. The boats slowly sailing through a beautiful valley. So peaceful. Let’s take a little walk. Wow, how beautiful🥰 When I was a bit younger, I didn’t like autumn very much. Because it meant summer was over and it made me feel a bit sad. But when I see this view, all those feelings disappear. Red, yellow, orange… It’s truly beautiful. I came back toward Seibu-Chichibu Station. Let’s have dinner. How about this shop? Wow, that’s a big pork cutlet! This is a local Chichibu delicacy food. It’s nearly time to go home. I’m sad to leave, but I think I’ll look at some souvenirs before heading home.
