The Kanosuke Distillery from Kagoshima has a strong start to 2026 in the works. The distillery is launching the Kanosuke Single Malt 2026 whisky, featuring a striking cask finish in apple brandy and white wine barrels.

With the Kanosuke Single Malt 2026 Limited Edition, arriving in 2026, the distillery promises an expressive, refined whisky that’s all about freshness and craftsmanship.

What is the Kanosuke Single Malt 2026 whisky? This limited-edition Japanese whisky is a nod to spring in Fukiagehama, Japan—the vast beach beside Kanosuke Distillery and one of the country’s longest dune systems. In spring, the area is defined by the fresh, spicy scent of the Hamago flower.

The whisky is crafted from single malt distilled in the distillery’s three pot stills, then matured in a variety of casks.

The primary maturation took place in a combination of ex-shochu casks, sherry casks, bourbon barrels, and red wine casks. It then underwent an extended finishing phase that brings a bright, refreshing character to the whisky.

The bourbon-matured whiskies were finished in apple brandy casks, while those from ex-shochu recharred casks were finished in white wine barrels. These two components form the heart of the flavor profile, adding extra depth, freshness, and elegance.
