KADENA AIR BASE, Japan — December 2, 2025 — USO Okinawa is proud to announce a generous $3,250 charitable donation from the Okinawa Enlisted Spouses Club (OESC). This contribution will directly support the USO’s mission of keeping service members and their families connected to the people, places, and comforts they miss most while stationed abroad.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the USO has relied on the generosity of corporations, foundations, and community partners for more than 70 years. Corporate support through sponsorships, cause-marketing initiatives, in-kind gifts, and philanthropic donations is vital to advancing the USO’s mission worldwide. Contributions like the OESC’s play a crucial role in sustaining programs that strengthen connections and boost morale for service members and their families across Okinawa.
The donation originated when OESC President Kayla Sprinkel reached out to USO Kadena with a desire to support an organization that holds deep personal meaning for many military families.
“We are truly grateful for the opportunity to help support the USO, whose mission resonates deeply with our commitment to the military and local community,” said Mrs. Sprinkel. “It is an honor to partner with an organization that uplifts service members and families by fostering a sense of connection and care.”
The Okinawa Enlisted Spouses Club, also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, brings together enlisted spouses from all military branches on Okinawa. Through social connection, volunteerism, and charitable giving, the club works to strengthen its community and support both military families and local Okinawan neighbors. Operating out of the Kadena Thrift Store, the OESC maintains a long history of community impact.
“I love getting to see firsthand how the OESC gives back! And not just to our military families, but to the Okinawa community as a whole. I’m grateful to be part of an organization that truly shows up for people, both on and off base,” explained the OESC Community Outreach Coordinator, Danica Eckhart. “Whether it’s offering support during challenging moments or contributing to programs that make a real difference, it’s meaningful to know that what we do has a positive impact across the island.”
USO Okinawa expressed sincere appreciation for the gift, noting that the donation was both meaningful and pleasantly unexpected. The funds will support a variety of programs across the island that help service members and families feel connected to home.
