I Ate “Dancing” Squid Sashimi, Marukatsu Conveyor Belt Sushi, Pierogi & More! Hakodate Food Tour
Welcome to the ultimate Hakodate food tour! We hit up four iconic spots—from a seafood market to a Russian restaurant—to find the best and worst food in this Japanese port city. 🇯🇵 🦑 🥟
The day starts at La’gent Stay Hotel Hakodate with their incredible Seafood Buffet Breakfast, featuring a fresh Kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) and a seafood-loaded Bouillabaisse.
Next, we test out the famous Marukatsu Suisan conveyor belt sushi, but find the quality surprisingly disappointing and expensive! 💸
Then, the main event at Umigaki Honten: the unforgettable, controversial “Dancing” Squid Sashimi! We also try the local favorite Ramen Salad and a perfectly braised Atka Mackerel (Hokke).
Finally, we head to Marutama, an unexpected gem serving delicious Russian food where we find amazing Ezo Venison Pierogi and a hearty Cabbage Roll lunch! If you’re planning a Hakodate food trip, watch this first!
