We’re now at Furano Ski Resort. Today I’m skiing with two good friends. Jia-Cen. Hi everyone, I’m Jia-Cen! And Si-Si. Hey guys, I’m Si-Si! I’m back again! Wow. That’s steep! Is this our warm-up run?! Hmm… I think it’s not this run. Mogul hill! Hey! Uh yeah—don’t go full brake. The spacing’s so tight, this isn’t great for me! This is so fun! A small forest trail— we’re just following the pink rope all the way down. It’s like a snow roller coaster! You won’t slide out. Because everyone’s already packed the path for you. Yeah—just follow the line down. We’re going to go again later— the forest area down at the bottom. The C zone on the other side. That one’s longer and narrower. No blizzard today! Looks like we’ll have good weather all day. For beginner friends— you can also come to the Furano Forest area. Just take the first lift up, then cut to the left— you’ll find that cute little forest. It’s specially designed for beginners— and kids! It helps beginners get used to uneven terrain without feeling scared. And when I say “beginners,” I mean— those who can already make full controlled turns. Not first-timers who’ve never skied before. Even though there are lots of Western skiers here, it still keeps that simple, local vibe. It really feels like the countryside here. Everyone’s just here because they love skiing. We’re now next to the top gondola station. There’s a course here that only opens— until 2 p.m. Let’s go check it out first. Jia-Cen, you okay? I’m good! All good. Woo-hoo! Nice! You made it down! The snow’s so soft today. How’s your powder board? It’s awesome! First time riding a powder board— it feels so floaty! It pops and rebounds so easily. Let’s go! You guys are smart—came over to the sunny side. Haha. Yeah, the light’s much better here. This connecting trail doesn’t go back to the lift. We’ll just keep going down. This green run feels kinda red! Yeah, and the red runs here almost feel like black ones. Yeah. The black runs aren’t that bad though. Yeah, not too bad. They’re all pretty short anyway. Only the “Gate” courses really feel like true black runs. Yeah, those ones feel steeper. Furano overall is just full of red runs. Yup, totally red. It’s basically an all-red mountain. Yeah. The green runs are only down near the bottom— just a little section. Yeah. The Kitanomine side closes earlier though. It’s open until the end of March. Then last year— when I came, it was still open in May! Yeah, Furano runs until May. Oh, really? Furano— —it’s higher up. Yeah, the elevation’s a bit higher. Right. This one’s an S-shape, right? Yeah. You’re not— —you’re totally missing the gates! Yeah. You’re completely outside the flags. The kids are starting! Oh yeah! Yeah. That might be a different one. Yeah, this is another route. Ah— Eh? Oh. Want to take a break? Sure. Yeah, that’s different. Not the same. Right, we came in from that side earlier. Yeah. Okay. How did you end up out there? Yeah. Yeah, it looked like there was an opening there. And someone else was skiing that way too. Probably a lot of people go through there. The boundary rope’s been broken. Yeah. Hi! Hello! Careful! Today’s lunch is— dumplings! Alright, let’s dig in. Let’s eat! It’s snowing again. There’s the A3 course sign! Kinda messy here. But not too hard, thankfully. I really like the A3 run. There’s no one here. And you can choose— the flatter alternate route, or if you want— the steeper mogul side. This course is really fun! There’s even some powder on the side. Yeah, still some powder left. And a bit of trees to play in too. Alright, let’s keep going! We can see outside now! Yeah! Wow, it’s snowing again! It just blew past so fast! Hi! Nice job! He even touched my board! So hyped! The sides of the course are super fun to ride. So beautiful! Yeah, really pretty. Wow. This is A-Le’s little playground! Yay! That was fun! Alright, let’s do it again! Ah—closing time! Hahaha! Alright then, bye-bye! From that E2 ridgeline— —you can see… A little further ahead— you can see the top of that small lift. There’s a Christmas tree up there. We’ll start our run from here. Fewer trees here—it’s easier to go down. Jia-Cen’s going to share her thoughts. The off-piste part wasn’t tiring at all. But this part—this is exhausting. Hiking back up is really tough. The H1 course is harder. Yeah. Super tiring. H1 is all walking. Totally flat— like really flat. Careful, careful! Look—someone’s still not going home! They’re still in the trees! Yeah, that’s smart actually. That way you avoid the crowds. The snow inside is the cleanest. I was riding along the side earlier— because the snow’s deeper there. Yeah, more snow along the edges. The middle’s kind of scraped off. Feels pretty hard. We’re done exploring for the day. Thanks to the resort for giving us such good weather! And thanks to the snow gods for the amazing snow and trails. We skied so many runs today. It was such a fun day! It’s already four in the afternoon— time to wrap it up. My favorite part was— after taking the gondola down, then the lift on the left— that off-piste area up there. Once you get up there— if you’re lucky like us, you’ll catch a beautiful sunset. And when you ski down— you never get lost, it always leads back to the main trail. Totally safe to explore. This was my second time here in Furano. And of course, I came with my best friends. Thanks, you guys! How good a ski day is really depends on who you’re with. My friends last time were great too— I really liked skiing with Peggy. Right behind us is our hotel. It’s probably the most famous one here at Kitanomine, and definitely the coziest. It’s super comfortable— and look, after skiing down, you can almost ride right back to it. Well… almost. You just have to cross a road. Wishing everyone safe skiing!
