✨ Kyoto’s Stunning Once-a-Year Light-Up Event, Back After 4 Years | Visiting Arashiyama

Hello! I’m now at Kyoto Station. This time, I’m visiting Arashiyama Tsukitōro, a light-up event held in Kyoto’s Arashiyama area in October. During this event, the Bamboo Forest Path in Arashiyama is beautifully illuminated, offering a magical atmosphere different from the daytime. Actually, this event used to be called “Arashiyama Hanatōro” and was held in December. It had been a popular event since 2005,
but it sadly came to an end in 2021. But this year, it has finally returned after about four years, now under the new name “Arashiyama Tsukitōro.” The event is held only in October, for one month. Let’s head there now! You can easily get to Arashiyama from Kyoto Station
by taking the JR Sagano Line. It takes about 15 minutes
to reach Saga-Arashiyama Station, the nearest station. Arashiyama Tsukitōro can be enjoyed for free,
but there are also paid areas. Tickets can be purchased online in advance, but since they were sold out this time, I’ll buy a same-day ticket instead! There was a ninja on the platform! Hey, how’s it going? Arrived at Saga-Arashiyama Station! Right next to the station, there’s the station for the Sagano Romantic Train. The Sagano Romantic Train is a retro sightseeing train
that runs slowly along the river, offering beautiful scenic views. It’s a shame I can’t ride it this time because I’m short on time! Wow! It looks like this is a popular fried sweet potato snack here in Kyoto. That looks so good. I’ve arrived at Nagatsuji Street, the main street of Arashiyama! There are all kinds of shops here, including restaurants, souvenir stores, and cafés! A delicious-looking pyramid. snoopy chocolat So cute. The Katsura River and Togetsukyo Bridge I’m now at Keifuku’s Arashiyama Station, which faces Nagatsuji Street. Inside this station, there’s an art installation called the “Kimono Forest.” Around 600 poles decorated with Kyo-Yuzen patterns are lined up here, and they light up beautifully at night. Kyo-Yuzen refers to a type of traditional Kyoto dyeing that looks like a work of art. So beautiful! This is called the Dragon’s Atago Pond. It’s said that when you place your hand in the water,
it brings peace to your heart and guides you toward happiness. Dragon… Arashiyama’s Dragon Ball… Here’s the nighttime illumination! Wow. It looked beautiful during the day,
but it’s even more magical at night. It’s almost like it’s part of the station. Oh… A train heading into the light. There are so many different patterned poles here. I found out there are as many as 32 different patterns! That’s a lot. Let’s head to the Bamboo Forest Path,
where the Arashiyama Tsukitōro event is held! This place really represents Arashiyama. Bamboo, bamboo, bamboo. If a panda came here, I’d probably cry with joy. 🐼 It feels like time is moving slowly here, and it’s so calming. I’m waiting in line for the same-day tickets. Got it! And as for the line… Look how long this line is! It’s really popular. This is the event I’ve been looking forward to — Arashiyama Tsukitōro! The bamboo forest is lit up and looks so magical. This would probably surprise a panda too. A Rilakkuma goods shop So cute. It’s getting pretty dark, so let’s head to the paid area. Arrived! Wow… A circle of light? That’s amazing! There’s a constant mist in the area,
making the atmosphere even more magical. So the mist might sound a little loud. Sorry about that. Wow, amazing. What’s that? Whoaaa… So beautiful. A bamboo sphere ☆☆☆ It feels like I’m inside a fairy tale. What is this?! Is this made of bamboo too? That’s incredible. How is this even made? It’s like glowing fruits are growing in the bamboo forest. What a wonderful event! By the way… This paid area is actually open for free during the daytime. You can enjoy it without the lights on. I happened to pass by during the day and realized I could go in. That’s when I found out about it. Lucky me! Is this a mandala? A giant shield? A massive propeller? So artistic. Thank you for watching until the end. If you’d like to, I’d appreciate it if you subscribed or left a comment.

I visited the “Arashiyama Bamboo Path” light-up event in Kyoto, Japan. Held in October, the event returned for the first time in about four years. The illuminated bamboo path stretches for about one kilometer (0.62 miles), creating a beautiful and magical atmosphere.
