New York–born global fashion brand Coach will reopen its flagship store in the heart of Tokyo’s Ginza district on December 19 (local time). First launched in 2002 as Coach’s inaugural flagship in Japan and later updated in 2015, the store has long been beloved by fans. With this latest renewal, the space evolves into an immersive environment designed to offer a deeper experience of the brand’s world.
A New Landmark Design for the Ginza Streetscape
One of the most striking features of the renewed store is a bold, sculptural “C” suspended within the expansive corner windows. Its dynamic presence introduces a fresh rhythm to the Ginza streetscape, symbolizing a new chapter in the brand’s storytelling.
The façade incorporates vertical louvers inspired by the New York skyline. Depending on the viewing angle, they shift in appearance, expressing urban dynamism and energy. This innovative architectural concept was brought to life through a collaboration between Coach and the design studio CURIOSITY.
“The Cocoon” — A Space That Honors Heritage
Inside the store, visitors will find The Cocoon, a circular gallery-like space that embodies the brand’s archive and aesthetic codes. Carefully curated heritage pieces are displayed here, allowing guests to immerse themselves in Coach’s history, craftsmanship, and design philosophy.
At the same time, playful new collection items are presented throughout the space, offering a shopping experience where tradition and innovation coexist seamlessly.
A Story of Energy and Diversity by Artist Keenue
The staircase features a special mural created by Japanese artist Keenue, whose vivid and inclusive style celebrates community, self-expression, and creative energy. The artwork conveys a narrative that reaches beyond fashion, expressing vibrancy and openness.
It also reflects Coach’s brand purpose, “Courage to Be Real,” encouraging visitors to embrace their individuality and express themselves freely.
A Fusion of New York Strength and Tokyo Sensitivity
The interior materials blend the boldness of an urban metropolis with the refined sensibilities of Tokyo. Natural oak brings warmth, while black metal and exposed concrete introduce an industrial edge. Colorful terrazzo adds lightness and depth, creating a rich interplay of color and texture.
Through this thoughtful combination of materials, the spirit of Coach’s hometown, New York, and the cultural energy of Tokyo merge to form a uniquely expressive environment.
A New Landmark in Ginza Connecting Coach’s Story to the Future
In 2025, Ginza continues to redefine its status as a global luxury destination, with prestigious maisons such as Casa Loewe, Cartier, Tiffany & Co., and Harry Winston opening new flagship stores one after another. Coach joins this vibrant wave of openings, becoming the grand finale to a transformative year for the district.
The newly reimagined Coach Ginza embodies the brand’s longstanding commitment to the Japanese market, distilling its unwavering values and forward-looking vision into a single space. Serving as both a symbolic stage that bridges the brand’s past and future, and a place where visitors are encouraged to freely express their individuality, the store offers an experience rich with discovery and inspiration. It stands as a distinctive new landmark in the heart of Ginza—one that will continue to evolve alongside those who visit.
