Five Pakistani university students will travel to Japan on the invitation of the Japanese government to participate in the JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) program, the Embassy of Japan in Islamabad announced on Monday.
The students will visit Japan from December 16 to 23, joining 35 high school and university students from SAARC countries.
This year’s program focuses on “Environmental Sustainability and Disaster Resilience.”
The JENESYS program, launched by the Japanese government, aims to strengthen mutual understanding, respect, and cooperation between Japan and the Asia-Pacific region through youth exchange.
During the visit, participants will take part in activities that enhance their understanding of Japan’s economy, history, politics, diplomacy, and culture.
They will also attend lectures, discussions, and thematic site visits, along with a homestay experience to immerse themselves in Japanese daily life.
The Embassy of Japan in Islamabad held a pre-departure orientation session to prepare the Pakistani participants.
Ambassador Akamatsu Shuichi extended his best wishes, encouraging the students to make the most of this unique learning opportunity.
He emphasized the importance of cultural exchange, noting that the students would act as cultural ambassadors, strengthening ties between Japan and Pakistan.
The JENESYS program is held annually and aims to build capacity, promote people-to-people connections, and foster long-term cooperation between Japan and SAARC nations.
