First impressions of Osaka – Don’t trust AI πŸ‡―πŸ‡΅

Hello. I’m in a new city. Just got in for train ride from Knazawa. I’m in Osaka. And fortunately, I’m going to here for a minute. I was in uh Kanazawa for 3 days. Filmed two videos. Turned out well. Fortunately, I went to clear my SD card, cleared all the data, took it out of the editing software. So, unfortunately, I’ve got nothing from that awesome city of Konazawa. And that city had awesome food, fantastic curry, fantastic burger place that I waited in line for for two hours. But anyway, I’m going to put that behind me. Just going to walk to my hotel. Well, I got about a mile walk and then I’ll check in and start exploring. So, I’ll be here staying in Osaka for 7 days. I’m not going to do the full 7 days in Osaka. I’m going to use it as a jumping off point to check out Coobe Kyoto, maybe Nara, maybe some other places. But take you along with me. Got a got a food tour, street food tour planned for Osaka. That’ll that’s gonna be fun because Saka is considered Japan’s kitchen. Some of the best food in all the country and all the world for that matter cuz there’s a lot of Michelin star restaurants in this city is in Osaka. So, I’m excited for my stay here and happy to take you along with me. More to come. One more thing that I forgot about the whole losing all of my data. So I went and I leaned on AI for suggestion. AI co-pilot goes, “Oh, you know, go ahead and sweep your computer, do a a restart and some other things.” So anyway, I do that, lose everything else, lose my editing software. I got to log back in. They want me to pay again. Not going to do that. Had trouble with it. still trying to figure it all out again. So, moral of the story is don’t trust AI. Do your own research. Figure it out. If it’s recoverable, it’s recoverable. If not, then you’re out. That’s it. I’m going to put that to rest. Make this a good good next leg of the trip. Okay. I’m just about to head out and uh just explore real quick and then get some dinner. Full tour is going to be happening in another video, but I’m just going to do a little overview here and kind of bounce around town a little bit. But right now, I want to show you my hotel room door. Got a bed, very tight, small thing. Desk. And then uh let’s see over here. We’ve got uh a bathroom with a shower. Not very big. This is the exact same hotel as I had in Kanazawa, which that hotel was a bargain. That was 42 bucks a night. This one’s a little bit more. Saka is a little bit more on the tourist path as far as hotels go. So, this one cost I think it’s like 78 or $79 a night and I’ll be here for seven nights. So, I’m going to catch you on the flip side because I’m going to head out and grab some dinner. Yeah. On my way to downtown Bur there’s appears to be a casino. I didn’t think gambling was illegal in Japan. So, please correct me if I’m wrong. Let me take a look into that. I thought outside of Pachenko it was not real, but I peaked in there. Looks like they got blackjack going some other games. I don’t know what it is. If it’s some sort of exception in Saka, but very interesting. I just didn’t know they had that. [Music] I don’t know what it is, but maybe I just missed it last time I was in Osaka. But I’m getting a vibe here that’s a lot bigger party city than Tokyo is. And there’s just a ton of bars. It seems like night life is just bouncing here. So, I don’t know. I’ll continue to check it out and come to a better conclusion or the same conclusion. We’ll see. Very cool, though. I like the vibe of it. It’s totally different. A little grittier than Tokyo. Heat. [Music] Heat. [Music] All right, I’m in the thick of it. Right into Donbury. Walking along the riverwalk here. You know, I don’t know what it is. If it’s just I haven’t got to the spot yet, but last time I was here, I remember it being quite a bit more packed than it is tonight. Just figured that it would be a little more packed with this being essentially peak season. I mean, outside of the what is that? The cherry blossoms in March and April. I think that’s also peak season. By this time of the year, the weather’s great. But I’m not seeing a ton of people here, which is a good thing because I really don’t like crowds. But hey, still on the search to find something to eat. I want some of those forget what they call them. They’re octopus balls. I’ll put I’ll put the name up on the screen when I figure out what they are. The name of those octopus balls are taky. Taco yaki. I don’t know why I forgot that, but there’s so many different things. Yakasoba, other things. Yaka means like cooked or baked or something. Something to that extent. I’m not entirely sure, but uh yeah, it’s pretty cool scene right now. It’s all lit up like it’s daytime here. Beautiful area. [Music] Lot to see here. A lot of stimulation, a lot of lights, a lot of smells, a lot of great foods. Check it out. It’s uh it’s a great time. I mean, it’s it’s fun being here solo, but also it could be kickass with somebody else you like or don’t like. Doesn’t matter. for each their own. Right. All right. So, I got one of these 10 yen cheese coin deals here. I’ve been seeing them around forever, so I wanted to give it a try here. Let’s see how it is. Sweet batter. Haven’t got the cheese yet. in the back. that you know talking to you trying to hear that [Music] interesting with the sweet savory mix. It’s all right. Not bad for 500 yen. Oh my goodness. [Music] All [Music] [Music] right. So, I just picked up eight of the octopus balls, the takoyaki. And the key to this, you buy it, is give it a few minutes because it’s like lava hot inside. You don’t want to burn your mouth. It’s It’s not a great experience. But we’ll take a look at it now. Give it a try. So, I’m showing everyone how these are made. They’re all made by hand with chopsticks. Just kind of rotating them. Now, what what what it is, I just not looked it up. I knew it was octopus, but it says style Japanese street food made of a ball made of a ball-shaped wheat flour based batter filled with diced octopus, tempura scraps, and pickled ginger. Then they top it with some sauce and then also some Japanese mayonnaise which is a little bit different than we get in the United States. A little bit better in my opinion. And then also which I did not get is fish flakes. I just don’t like them. I think it’s it overpowers the the flavor that’s already good on these. But typically it does come with fish flakes on it. And to me it just reminds you of of fish food. So took a little pass on that one. Hot [Music] heat. [Music] Also, it appears that Osaka is getting into the Christmas spirits. It’s starting to see Christmas trees up all around here. They got the lights on the trees here. It looks nice. A little early for my taste. I usually wait another week or so, but it looks beautiful. [Music] [Music] As you can see, it’s it’s pretty packed with people here. There just a ton of restaurants, ton of street food to choose from. So, I will not today, but another day this week, I’m going to do a Osaka street food tour. And this is Alvin’s request. So, Alvin, I’m doing this next video for you, buddy. So, take one for the team. I’m going to power through a bunch of different street food here. Probably take in more calories than I should, but it’ll be fun and I’m looking forward to it. So, I’m gonna probably make my way back to the hotel, call it a night. It was shorter day of travel, but still travel days take a lot out of me, moving all my packs around, but uh glad to be here. It’s good to be back in Osaka. It’s got a lot of life here. It’s definitely a place that you should put on your on your stay if you’re coming to Japan. It’s it’s it’s definitely one of those must-see places. So, be sure to tune in and uh check out more of Osaka. Just getting back to my hotel now. That was about 3 mile two exc area. So, I’m going to call it a night. I’m tired. I need a little bit of rest. I’m going to edit this video tomorrow. But, thank you for watching. Please subscribe, like, comment, and share. and I’ll talk to you guys later. Good night.

Arriving into Osaka, I do some basic night exploring around the Dontonbori, and sample some local dishes.

  1. Its a bummer to hear about the Kanazawa footage.

By the way, I've seen casino places like the one in Osaka here in Tokyo and Yokohama. I think you can play casino games, it's just there's no money being bet. You paid by the hour or per game to play but you're not getting any money. Solid deal for the house. πŸ˜‚

  2. good overall knowing, well we got some snow today in Chicago and some Christmas πŸŽ„ lights

  3. hmmm,… it may be good for you to visit the Osaka history museum … you can see the context of where you are. Fun hint … if you take the museum stairs instead of the elevator you will get incredible views of the castle.

  4. im planning to do what youre doing – use Osaka as a base, get a JR rail pass, and spend all my time in rural spots within 2hrs of the city. Hotels im gonna stay in a way out of town 4star right near a train station…doing everything to not be in the urban city centre.
