Welcome to Nagoya, Japan π―π΅
Guess I’m worried. It looks beautiful outside, but I think it may be very very cold. And that means the video is happening. We are going to visit one new city for me in Japan. The fourth largest city. The first is Tokyo. Then is Yokohama I believe Osaka maybe the third and today number four I’m staying here this night near the airport of this city and now I’ll take the train to this city but first first if possible but I’m not sure if it’s possible I’d like to go to the coastline this airport here is by the sea looks like a beautiful location Sheraton. Huh? Yeah. Look, we see there is a ferry. I don’t know where it’s going. I was surprised yesterday when I arrived and see saw that there is a fast speed ferry to somewhere. There were signs pointing to it. Could be maybe this one. Most likely not the Coast Guard. And the reason I spent the first night here by the airport, not in the city, is because I’m a very smart person. I’ll tell you later how I saved like $200 a night. A big concert is happening today. I see lots of women with bands, t-shirts. Limited Express might be this one. Welcome to Nagoya on this sunny November 30th. the last day of November. Let’s go on a walk. Let’s go to my hotel. I’ll try to check in and No, most likely not check in. Just leave the bag and then we’ll go and see the city. See some autumn colors. See some historical building, one or two, and some modern buildings, some crowded places, some most likely not very busy places. Nagoya, as they say, is a big modern city, but not too busy. I actually think that could be said about any city, any big city in Japan, that it’s not too crowded. It doesn’t feel too crowded, at least for me personally. Only Tokyo can feel crowded for me. And also only at the main stations, the most busy places. Not everywhere, not always. Tokyo can also be like this. Like this. Not too busy. Look one more time. So that was the train station. I would never have guessed that it’s a train station. And I would never have gone looking for a train in a building like this. I’m staying somewhere super close. 800 m. 5 minutes in the city and I’m already super impressed. I knew of Nagoya only because of one reason. I read one book by Haruki Murakami, a very popular Japanese author and there was Nagoya mentioned in one book. I have read many of his books. I like all of them. Yeah. But that’s it. That’s the only knowledge I had of Malagoya until recently when I was looking for options where to go to in direction of Tokyo because I am going for a concert in Tokyo and I didn’t want to fly directly to Tokyo and I found Nagoya. It’s a big city. I like big cities. I thought let’s give it a try. What was that? A Santa Claus rod. A Japanese Santa Claus. You can see by the size of his belly. A Japanese, not Latrian. I was seriously worried about the weather, but wow. Amazing. Yeah, cool. A bit, but amazing. Just the right weather to wear pants. Once a month I can wear also pants bag drop off done. It’s amazing thing about Toyokco that I have seen in several locations that they have self-service lockers for free. So that means you can just arrive, leave your bag in a locker and go. Heat. Heat. Whatever is that rocket kind of thing, but looks interesting. super interesting city which makes me wonder of course am I going to say this about all Japanese cities because I I like them. I like all of them. I like all of them that I have visited. Tokyo of course. Yokohama, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukoka, Naha in Okinawa. I like all of them. And I’m going to at least one new city this time as well. One more also a big city. Yeah, speaking of the hotel and what happened, how did I save money by staying in better places? I was looking for an accommodation for two nights in Aagoya from Saturday to Sunday to Monday. The total price for two nights was starting from around $300 American. Yes, $300 American dollar. And that would mean staying in a host if I chose the cheapest option. $300 American for a host. I almost made that reservation. I almost booked a place in a host for two nights for $300 American dollars. 300. I didn’t want to do it, but I almost did that. And then I thought, wait a moment. I’m arriving in the evening. Maybe there is something where I can stay near the airport. So, one night by the airport and one night in the city. And boom, I found a nice hotel for 50 American dollars a night by the airport. Toyoko in. And then for the other night, tonight also $50 American dollars a night. Toyoko in again in a central location, nice location, nice hotel, not in a host. The thing is that there just wasn’t almost any options for two nights. And this Saturday night to Sunday was the crazy expensive one if you stay in the city. Don’t know why. Maybe because of some concert. Maybe there is another concert. There are quite a few concerts happening in Japan. That’s what I learned when I was looking on what events are there in Japan. And that’s why I’m going to not the next one after Tokyo, but the other one because there is a concert happening. There are concerts, interesting concerts, interesting for me, interesting if you like Japanese or Korean music every other day. I was shocked when I saw that. So that’s why two concerts for me this time in Japan. Lunch break with the roasted rice tea and grilled salmon flakes oniri. One of my favorite ever snacks, small eats in the world. On a giri, rice and a little bit of filling inside. And the roasted rice tea is one of my favorites lately when I’m looking for a non caffeinated tea. This one was warm in the warm shelf. And I don’t know yet if this is only about this area, but Nagoya is the number one city in Japan where where I have seen so many stylish people, young and also older. Maybe it’s only this area which is um like a shopping area, but you can’t not notice that you feel like in a fashion show, not just walking the streets of a city in not even the biggest city like fourth biggest city in the country. I remember that S. Paulo in Brazil felt somewhat similar. Look at the room. A nice small room. Modern room. And I almost ended up paying couple hundred more for a host bed. Let’s go and see something more. While it’s still almost an hour until the sunset. Sun sets early now in end of November and as soon as the sun sets it will also get significantly colder. DVD place no photos okay love community plaza I’m aiming for Nagoya Castle 2 and a half kilometers. I did some more walking, a couple hours of walking off camera and so far my first impressions haven’t changed and it feels like Nagoya could be second favorite city for me in Japan. Second, don’t need to Tokyo judging just by the looks and how it feels to be here. Super nice, modern, young happening. Not so clean in that area where I was walking, that shopping area, but well, this is what happens in those kind of areas. It’s the same also in Tokyo in um Shinjuku but otherwise amazing amazing city 2 kilometers. Huh. I see Thailand seam garden Thai food here in the like I said. And then you’ll find some quieter streets, some older buildings. It’s not that hard. Just just turn off the main road. Beautiful trees. Oh, wow. I see it. We are going in the right direction. Closed. 3 minutes ago. The castle is closed. So close, but we cannot go in. I’m definitely having a feeling that I will need to return to Nagoya. The first impressions are super super good. See you soon. Most likely still from Japan, but maybe not from Nagoya. See you.
Nagoya, Japan vlog. In this travel vlog, I’m sharing my first impressions of Nagoya – the fourth largest city in Japan (after Tokyo, Yokohama and Osaka, all of which I have visited).
