*Special Note*
This was my first edited video on the new EOS R that I picked up. I shot it with a 35mm 1.4 lens and the Rode Videomic Pro.
Things I learned:
1) Be Patient. Due to rushing, I skipped reshooting scenes like trying to talk over a train and didn’t have enough b-roll to really showcase the areas as well as I wanted.
2) Review the video. There were many times where I was standing too close and the camera was focused on Dustin and Akina, but I was blurry.
3) Shoot at twice the frame rate if I am going to use slow-motion. Yes some plugins can assist, but it doesn’t come out smooth at all trying to slow down 24fps.
4) Get a light to shoot at night. Dustin had this awesome go pro light that helped with really dark scenes.
5) Bring my own Tripod. Dustin let me use his for the shoot, whereas I should have thought ahead and just brought my own. (Thanks again man!)
6) The Directions are too small for mobile viewers. I really don’t know what to do for this, because I want to convey how to get to each area from the previous one, but I don’t want it to take up the entire frame.
7) I need to stop talking while facing away from the camera. You can’t hear me at all sometimes.
8) Prep more about what I am going to say. Impromptu is bad. You can tell when I lose my train of thought and begin to stutter because I’m second-guessing what to say.
9) Incorporate a challenge, or something more entertaining than just “we are taking pictures”. Though the locations are nice, I should have added more interact-ability to help showcase Dustin and Akina more.
10) Learn to use the auto-focus on the EOS R better. It was one of my first times using it and not going to lie, the learning curve is kinda high due to coming from an old 5D mk iii.
