Viaje en Hello Kitty Shinkansen de Osaka a Fukuoka, ¡full detalle!
Amazing and welcome to our trip to Japan! We set aside a day to enjoy the Hello Kitty Shinkansen, a special themed bullet train that travels between Osaka and Fukuoka. I’ll share the whole train experience with you, car by car , what we ate, the entire experience , and the surprises we saw in Fukuoka. It was a spectacular day! Thursday, November 21, 2024 , Shin-Osaka Station. Here they sell bento boxes, prepared lunches to eat on the train. Carefully cooked food to take away. There are different kinds , and some special bento boxes are shaped like little trains —very cute! Shin-Osaka Station, 11:20 AM. Our train, Kodama 849, 11:37 to Hakata. Arrival of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen at Shin-Osaka. It has 8 cars, and look what a beautiful train! Everything about this Shinkansen Series 500 is perfect! It’s one of the few remaining trains of this model, like a Concorde airplane but in train form. When we were planning our trip to Japan, Belén said she wanted to see this train. She had it marked as a priority and we set aside a day just for it. 8-car train, Car No. 5. Hello Kitty Shinkansen entrance! Hi! Here I am with Belén, enjoying ourselves and starting the adventure. We see our JR Pass and the Kodama train ticket 849. We’re in car 5 of 8. We bought a ton of food, haha. We’ll see the bento boxes later. Here, I’ve been eating 7-Eleven sandwiches ; they’re so delicious! I still miss convenience stores in Japan; they were wonderful. This themed train has several Hello Kitty decorations , and we’ll see the entire train from end to end , all 8 cars, one by one. I want my eyes to be your eyes, for you to be here traveling with us. In the last car, number 8, at the very end, there’s a space that simulates the train’s cab for children— a mock-up of the cab. I thought that was an amazing detail. I find it impressive because you can pretend to control the train while it’s running. Japan is full of transportation enthusiasts, train museums, and things like that, but seeing this on a Shinkansen in service is just too cool ! I think it’s so much fun! I was so happy with how they think of these little details for children and adults alike … beautiful! Greetings! 300 km/h… wow! A pleasant surprise on the Shinkansen 500 Series train ! I want you to feel like you’re inside the train! Totally immersive 🙂 There are different types of seats and cars on this Shinkansen 500 Series. Car 8 has regular seats, rows with 3 and 2 seats , and a central aisle. Comfortable seats with good space and good recline. This is the usual standard seat on the Japanese Shinkansen , regular service. We’ve already seen car 8, let’s go to 7… look, car 7 has the same economy seats, very similar to car 8 we saw before. Car 6 of this particular Shinkansen … do you see that the seats are different? These seats are Green Car category, which is the premium service on Japanese JR trains. That’s why they’re different: larger, with more space, wider , better reclining, and more comfortable. Two seats apiece make a noticeable difference, although on this train, this particular seat is a version with reduced features. Interestingly, since the Hello Kitty Shinkansen is a Kodama service —the train that stops at every station and is the slowest service— these seats are sold at the regular price, not as premium or Green Car seats . It’s an alternative way to travel in these seats without paying the extra surcharge. To make them standard, they removed the leg rests, some cushions, and the audio system because they originally came with better features. This is luggage space. Car 5 is where we’re traveling, which has different seats. At the ends of the Shinkansen, there are spaces to put suitcases against the wall , and this car has special seats for people with disabilities. In terms of amenities, it’s similar to the Green Car we saw before, the same 2-2 configuration with great space , but it has a different color, dark blue, which I think is even nicer. And the seats are newer. On Japanese bullet trains (Shinkansen), there are cars that only allow reserved seats, each passenger in a specific seat at that time , and there are non-reserved cars where you buy your Shinkansen ticket for the time but use any free seat in that car on the train. The reserved-seat cars are 4, 5, and 6 with these more comfortable seats , and the rest are non-reserved cars (1, 2, 3, 7, 8). That’s why when we booked a ticket, we ended up in these cars. Look how cute, hahaha. Car 4 has the same concept as car 5 with the same blue seats. All the reserved-seat cars on this train have this extra comfort , and also At the end where you can put suitcases, this car also has a special luggage space, recommended if you’re traveling with large suitcases between Osaka and Fukuoka. We’ll see the train’s restrooms later , but as a preview, this is a sink or vanity decorated in pink, because of Hello Kitty —how thoughtful, right? Car 3 has regular economy seats , not reserved, with space for luggage , and the most special or iconic part is the first two cars of the train (1 and 2). Ta-da! Kawaii Room Car No. 2 – Kawaii Room: Car 2 of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen is decorated everywhere— the floor, the windows , the headrests , everything! Hello Kitty everywhere ! In every corner! It’s an incredibly kawaii, incredibly cute train , and it’s what you were expecting to see, I imagine, right? This is the experience! Carriage 2 is non-reserved, so if you buy a ticket on the train schedule and don’t have a reserved seat, you can travel here in these seats. It’s “matanga,” as the monkey said , “whoever gets a seat, keeps it.” Most people do this: buy your ticket and get in line for car 2 to board. Usually, there are a lot of people , but that day, on our trip, the train wasn’t very crowded . I was able to record and photograph many details of this beautiful train without many people , and also travel in these seats for a good while. I traveled in this car during the trip , and in the luggage compartment, they have this. I was truly fascinated, even though I’m not a Hello Kitty fan. Belén is, though. What I like is the level of care, the attention to detail, all the beautiful things, the map with the cities, the different Hello Kitty designs, the atmosphere. The people on the train were so happy; most came to take this train because of Hello Kitty. And that’s it—how to make a train trip an unforgettable and fun experience. Japan is so cool as a tourist in that respect; it has very great experiences. Now, you’ll be amazed by car 1. Hello! Plaza Car No. 1 Hello Kitty Shinkansen ! That’s right! The entire Car 1 is a shop space with no seats , and luckily for me, with very few people there at the time, I had a period of time when it was completely empty, which is rare because many people come to this part of the train. Hello! Plaza is the Hello Kitty Shinkansen’s themed shop ; they sell tons of products, lots of things, and there are spaces for taking commemorative photos. There are also tables where you can watch the journey. Buying things from the cafe and eating here is what I was talking about —how to make it an unforgettable experience , the attention to every last detail. 100/10, truly congratulations to JR West! Beautiful, beautiful! The QR code has a cafe menu and there’s a power outlet —this is super convenient! How do you feel? Feel the journey on this train! The Hello Kitty Shinkansen is a themed bullet train that started on June 30, 2018 , and they say it will run until spring 2026. Belén and I spent five years saving for the trip; it was one of her dreams, and here we are. We were able to give ourselves the time, the space, and the luxury to travel on this train , to explore it, to walk through all its cars. And you, watching this video, are also seeing it through our eyes; you are truly living this adventure with us . Thank God for so many wonderful things and for this dream trip . For reference, 1000 yen is about 6 US dollars. I filmed all the products in the shop! Enjoy! The cafeteria products… a classic Japanese thing: gacha machines! Hahaha , yes, we fell into the trap! Hahaha, I bought a little coin to play gacha and I also bought some other things. It’s impossible not to buy something, everything is so cute here, even the plastic bag is themed and beautiful! Hahaha , so cool! Ariel: Okay, to remind me, what do you say I should remember? Belén: That in the shop in car 1 of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen you can only pay with real money (cash) or with cards like SUICA, PASMO, or credit cards, no! Ariel: That’s it! Ariel: And what did you buy? Belén: Lots of things! (mischievous laugh) At the beginning I showed you that we bought bentos in Shin-Osaka and obviously, since we were traveling on this Hello Kitty Shinkansen, I bought a lunch with the little box from this train ! Hahaha, the kids’ menu ! Oops! I opened it upside down! Hahaha , now I’m talking! This is my lunch, although it got a little messy on the left. We have a mini beef burger , green beans, sausage, an omelet, there are the green beans, this is rice with tomato sauce and chicken, star-shaped carrots, fried shrimp —everything is super delicious! And what’s wrapped is a tiny fruit jelly. The Hello Kitty Shinkansen bento cost us 1,480 yen. Belén bought another lunch, a box that had rice, fried chicken, and pork cutlet (tonkatsu). It was a larger portion. They all come with oshibori, hot towels to clean your hands before eating. And at the hotel in Osaka, I ate this self-heating bento for dinner. It’s a special version with a string; you pull the string , and a chemical reaction inside heats the food. You have to wait a bit (otherwise, you’ll burn your hands), and when you open it , the food is hot. Just pop in and eat! This bento comes with Kobe beef (premium cut) , rice, potatoes, and sukiyaki —sliced, steamed beef . And now I can show you the trip itself ! Enjoy your meal and cheers! (Itadakimasu) Osaka – Fukuoka trip. Train departure from Shin-Osaka, 11:37 AM next to an N700 Supreme train (one of the newest) (in Japanese: Kodama train 849, heading to Hakata) Kanzaki River (Osaka) (Hello Kitty Shinkansen train announcement sound) (announcement in Japanese: coming soon, Okayama station) in Hiroshima, strange things happened to us, the train stopped at the station and through the internet, we found out that there was another train with problems at another station, they were checking it, so the Sanyo Shinkansen line was stopped for several minutes, about 30 minutes, we used HolaFly internet, an E-Sim with unlimited data Super useful in Japan, that’s how we browsed the internet and I took advantage of the wait and went to take a picture of the train , but I had to run so I wouldn’t get left behind ! I was so scared of being left out! hahaha Hello Kitty Shinkansen in Hiroshima Hiroshima: 2:41 PM (2:08 PM scheduled departure) then we made our normal trip, quite an experience traveling on a Japanese bullet train (Shinkansen) and even more so on this rare and special train model. Originally there were 9 trains (W1 – W9), now there are very few left running and soon they will be gone, they will stop running. Years ago there was an Evangelion Shinkansen from 2015 to 2018, there was that special train which is exactly this same train (V2) , they changed the decoration but it is the same formation and cars. We are seeing Hiroshima from the Shinkansen! This is the river that passes by the Peace Memorial at 280 km/h (174 mph) (although it sounds strange, this train is “restricted”… it used to reach 300 km/h). It was a dream come true to be traveling on the Shinkansen. It seems poetic to think that you can travel so fast on a train and enjoy the scenery of traveling through a country like this. In this case, Japan is truly a marvel. As someone who loves transportation, this is fascinating ; I will love it forever. Tokuyama, the coastal city we saw. Shinkansen N700 Series. Interestingly, our 500 Series train was the fastest Shinkansen of its time in 1998. Few trains were made because they were very expensive to manufacture. It was the first Japanese train to reach 300 km/h commercially. It says there if it’s a reserved or non-reserved car. I love the idea of conveying to you what it’s like to travel on the Shinkansen , so you can feel like you’re here traveling through Japan! That gentleman took so many pictures of the train, haha! With the sunlight and the angle, his photos must have turned out beautifully. The previous station was Shin-Shimonoseki. Something remarkable is that this trip crosses from one island to another . We’re going to Kyushu, and for that, the train crosses the sea through an underwater tunnel, the Shin-Kanmon Tunnel (18 km). We’re already in Kyushu! We crossed the sea… Kokura Station ! We’re very close to the sea! We have 56 km left on the train journey. I was also taking photos and recording the signs highlighting different cities. That’s another idea behind the Hello Kitty Shinkansen: not just to have a themed train with an onboard shop , but to serve many cities and expand tourism at all the stations. To provide a service to the community and attract tourists, they showcase the culture of those places and their products. I think it’s so cool! Between cars 1 and 2, we have a regular bathroom with some Hello Kitty decorations or stickers for us men. These Shinkansen trains have these urinals with a mirror, sink, soap , and of course, the urinal! Hahaha ! Look at this! It’s so cute! (kawaii) This is the accessible restroom , which is much larger and special. It’s in car 7. The restrooms also have Braille. We have a power outlet, sink, soap, and a mirror. This is for changing babies. There are towels to clean the seat before sitting down. We have a trash can, another sink , and grab bars. There’s toilet paper. The toilet is normal; it doesn’t have smart features (washlet) or a bottom-washing function. There’s a power outlet for emergency calls, a mirror , and the flush button is infrared— you don’t touch it. You wave your hand over a sensor , and it activates. Demonstration of the Shinkansen toilet . Below, you can also lock the door. Overview of the accessible restroom. This is a normal restroom; it has the same things in a smaller space and includes a changing table. Some restrooms have changing tables, and others don’t. And as an extra, smoking is not allowed on the trains. This used to be the designated smoking area , but it’s no longer available because smoking is prohibited throughout the train. There’s a website, jr-hellokittyshinkansen.jp, available in different languages; we used the English version. It shows the exterior design and also photos of the interior, highlighting cars 1 and 2 , which are the most important. There’s a short film about the train and other characters, information on reserved and non-reserved cars, and details on the regional passes that are valid. We used the JR National Pass. The site also has a schedule with all the train’s operating days for the coming months, so you can plan your trip. The train runs on the same schedule every day. The Kodama 842 and 849 are the two trains; the route is 553 km (343 mi) long, and the journey takes 4 hours and 14 minutes. The full route costs ¥15,480 (US$100). The Nozomi train takes 2 hours and 28 minutes . Faster service, that’s the difference! We’re still traveling from Kokura to Hakata , Fukuoka City, we’re almost there! Hakata Station in Fukuoka City, end of the Hello Kitty Shinkansen journey , although the train continues to Hakataminami, a local trip that goes right to where they keep the train in the workshop, hahaha. Japan, what cute trains you have! Really! Hello Kitty Shinkansen – Hakata Station. Goodbye Hello Kitty Shinkansen, thank you! After the train, we had to buy our return tickets. It was a whirlwind trip, bouncing like a ping-pong ball, because we had to get to Osaka in time to sleep. It was 4 hours and 13 minutes on the Hello Kitty train, plus the delay , and we were lucky because almost all the tickets were sold out. We managed to get just two tickets on an afternoon train, a Sakura train. The trip was 2 hours and 39 minutes, super fast compared to the Sakura 570, 18:45 Hakata – 21:26 Shin-Osaka. At the station shops, we bought a box of fine cookies with strawberry filling , a local delicacy. They were delicious! Buses outside Hakata station —look at this beautiful articulated Scania/Volgren bus! Fukuoka BRT bus —I want to cry! An articulated Mercedes Benz Citaro… Gorgeous, but I can’t get on… we don’t have time 🙁 The buses in Fukuoka are super cute! And now we’ll explore Hakata Station (west side). Look at this! Everything is so beautiful! We found Fukuoka to be a charming city . We were only there for a short time; it’s really worth staying longer. I would definitely come back for more time. It’s an important port; it has passenger ships to South Korea and receives a lot of cargo from China. It’s a cosmopolitan, modern, and bustling city. And at Hakata Station, we have these Christmas decorations, a Christmas market , live shows—beautiful! We bought fries and sausages that came in the shape of octopuses like the ones in the anime. Due to copyright issues, I can’t mention it, but tenor Kazuma Kudo, who participates in songs from Yuri On Ice, among others, sang a repertoire including “Un Sueño Imposible” from Don Quixote, in English. Incredible! A perfect, unforgettable day . We had such a great time! Shinkansen 800 Series – JR Kyushu. Our train, Shinkansen Series N700 17:07 Kagoshima – 18:45 Hakata – 21:26 Shin-Osaka Sakura 570, we’re on our way back! The inside of this Shinkansen is different . This is how our day ends, bouncing back to Osaka. May God bless you all and grant you the desires of your heart. Thank you so much for enjoying this with us , and we’ll see you in more videos, bye! hahaha (how cool to travel so fast on the Shinkansen…)

Here is Kazuma Kudo's performance of his song from Don Quixote. Thank you so much for watching, and may God bless you!
Alucinante y hermoso .
