軽バン車中泊 秋の四国・山陰旅 ① 明石海峡大橋~淡路島~鳴門編 #軽バン #車中泊 #旅行

I left Tokyo the day before yesterday and am currently driving through Osaka. I spent the night in my car at a roadside station in Nara. I’m heading to Shikoku. I ‘ve only been to Shikoku once before, crossing the Seto Ohashi Bridge to Takamatsu when I was a student . I haven’t had a chance to go there for work, so this time, as the second leg of my long car camping trip, I’m planning to take my time touring four prefectures. On the way back, I’m also thinking of passing through San’in, which I’ve never been to before. I think I’m already in Kobe, but that’s about it for today. I’ll cross the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge to Awaji Island. Since I’m here, I’ll take a look around Awaji Island and then cross the Naruto Strait to Shikoku. I’ll be camping at the Kurukuru Naruto roadside station tonight. It’s a bit cloudy today, but there are occasional sunshine. It’s autumn, but it’s still warm. I’m planning a two-week trip again, and I want to make it a relaxed and easy trip, so I hope for good weather. I finally headed to the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge from Tarumi IC. Apparently, it’s quite scary to drive a boxy vehicle on a strong crosswind , but I’m especially worried about my light van. Will it be okay? The wind is calm, so it seems perfectly safe. Incidentally, the Setouchi Ohashi Bridge, which crosses from Okayama to Takamatsu , apparently opened in 1988. When I graduated from university in 1989, I went to Okayama on a seminar graduation trip and crossed the much talked-about Setouchi Ohashi Bridge. The Akashi Kaikyo Bridge opened 10 years later, in 1998. Finally, the Shimanami Kaido, apparently, opened in 1999. Once across the bridge, I was in Shikoku…no, Awaji Island. While most people traveling to Shikoku would continue on the expressway through Awaji Island, I wanted to see Awaji Island, so I got off at Awaji IC right away. It was clearing up. Perhaps the “clear weather when you arrive” rule , which I’ve followed since my trip to Hokkaido, is still in full force. The ocean was visible. It was cloudy again, though. Honestly, I have no idea what Awaji Island is like. I know it’s pretty big, but I have no idea what it’s like. Is Awaji Island a relatively low-key place? So, is it a nice, quiet place? Is it an easily accessible resort for people from Osaka or Hyogo ? Is it similar to a two-day, one-night trip to the Miura Peninsula or Izu for Tokyoites ? It’s a weekday and the off-season, so it’s very quiet and nice. It’s lunchtime, so I head to a local restaurant called Awashima. They serve set meals during the day and karaoke in the evening. Are they primarily fishermen? The fried horse mackerel is incredibly thick and delicious! It’s a nice, quiet place. It’s a perfect Indian autumn day. Is the area becoming trendy? Is it bustling on the weekends? The water is crystal clear! When the sun shines, it feels like California. The scenery is beautiful, but it’s quite a distance from one end of the island to the other. If Shikoku is your destination, I can understand why you’d take the highway. But this time, I really got a feel for Awaji Island. It was gradually getting dark. It’s the shortest day of the year. Sunset is after 5 p.m. After 4 p.m., it’s already dusk. Traveling in a car shortens your active time. Finally, the Naruto Strait. Once you cross here, you’ll finally be in Shikoku. Shikoku is in sight! The Great Naruto Bridge crosses the Naruto Strait. Finally, Shikoku. I glanced out at the ocean, but there were no whirlpools. However, the tides certainly seem complicated. Apparently, the whirlpools are sometimes visible and sometimes not , depending on the season and the tides . View of the Naruto Strait from the Shikoku side. The sunset was just right. This is the last bridge before Naruto, apparently called the Little Naruto Bridge. It’s unknown, but the view is beautiful. I headed to Naruto’s hot springs. “Aratae no Yu” is new and very clean. I thoroughly enjoyed the open-air bath while looking out at the Naruto Strait. After a long soak in the bath, I went shopping for dinner in the town of Naruto at dusk. I’ll be spending the night in my car at the roadside station Kurukuru Naruto. Anyway, I’ve arrived safely in Shikoku.
