A brand-new global analysis from digital entertainment platform JB has recently analyzed what makes a city truly acceptional for nightlife fiends—and the cities worldwide that are doing it the best right now. The study looked at things like overall safety, bar and pub density, average prices, venue ratings, and closing times to rank the best cities of the year.
These are the overall coolest cities for nightlife according to the comprehensive index, from fan-favorites like Barcelona to up-and-comers like Tbilisi.
Barcelona

It boasts 317 bars and 598 nighttime activities per hundred square kilometers with clubs and bars typically closing anywhere from 4 to 6 a.m. Drinks and dining prices are on the expensive side but that’s pretty standard for a major European city.
Tokyo
Tokyo earned third spot worldwide and the number one spot for nightlife in Asia. The city earned an overall composite score of 72 with a relatively high safety score of 75. The vast urban sprawl boasts nearly 200 bars per hundred square kilometers with decent opening hours and very moderately priced drinks.
