Autumn Weekend Walk through City Center in Asahikawa | Hokkaido | Japan | 4K HDR
Air temperature 9.9°C / 49.82°F This time, I’ll be taking a walk through the central area of autumn Asahikawa. The walk starts here at Asahikawa Station, then goes through the city’s main shopping street, toward the southeast where many hotels are located.
From there, I stroll along the garden area by the Chubetsu River – one of the rivers flowing through the city center – before making our way back toward the station. Heiwa-dori Kaimono Park is one of Asahikawa’s few sightseeing areas, known for being Japan’s first permanently designated pedestrian street. Including the 3 – 6 Street lined with izakaya, this area is nice to explore if you want to easily enjoy Asahikawa’s flavors such as ramen. It’s also a place where several large festivals are held every year from summer through autumn. Especially in the coming winter season, ice sculptures line the streets, and a winter festival is held along the nearby riverbank, featuring snow sculptures and food stalls. In the second half of the video, I pass around Kagami Ike (mirror pond), which is also a recommended spot for a walking route.
