60 Days in Japan | Hiroshima Peace Park | Travel Vlog | E33 | 2025

A man goes to war once. A fool goes to war twice. [Music] Bob Marley once lamented about nations waring against nations. When did it start and when will it end? As long as evil men act and good men stay silent, sadly it won’t. This peace memorial is dedicated to the 80,000 humans who vanished in the blink of an eye by the device of evil men. This year marks 80 years since that day. [Music] By the end of 1945, half of Hiroshima’s 300,000 citizens were deceased. It’s estimated 45,000 were children. This is the atomic bomb children statue that commemorates their loss. The top rests a statue of Saddako Sasaki holding a crane. At the time of the blast, Sedako was two and survived till age 12. Before her passing, she attempted to make 1,000 origami cranes, which became the universal symbol of nuclear non-prololiferation. So when you see origami cranes on the geopolitical stage, that’s the history. Seeing the Adome building was surreal. It withtood a 15,000 ton TNT equivalent blast that obliterated the city. The hypoenter was a hospital just a block over, but seeing that memorial is a far stretch for me today. After seeing the peace museums, I need to lighten my mood. [Music] At the far end of the peace park, you’ll find Orizuru Tower. It’s home for the wall art project. A ninestory spiral staircase showcases the murals of nine artists to commemorate year 2045, the 100year anniversary of the first atomic bombing. That’s if these evil men will let the world live in peace. [Music] [Applause] [Music]

My first day in Hiroshima begins with a somber visit to the Peace Museum and Peace Park, where I reflect on the tragic history of the atomic bomb. I end the day at Hiroshima Orizuru Tower, exploring the powerful Wall Art Project 2045, an inspiring and humbling experience.
