A drone was spotted flying over the grounds of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Thursday afternoon. Officials at the Imperial Guard Headquarters are questioning two foreign tourists who are believed to have been operating the remote-controlled aircraft.
The Imperial Guard Headquarters and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department say a guard saw the drone flying over Sakashita-mon Gate and Kikyo-mon Gate at around 1:30 p.m.
Officials collected the drone and are interviewing the tourists. The two apparently did not know that drone flights around the Imperial Palace are prohibited in principle.
