The GZO Experience invites guests into an immersive world where traditional Japanese artistry meets contemporary minimalism. Designed and curated by Zane Johnson, the event blurs the line between fashion, ritual and mindfulness, transforming a warehouse in Kitakagaya into a sanctuary of modern Zen.
From 2pm to 5pm, guests can take part in intimate sessions guided by masters of sushi, tea and calligraphy, each dressed in GZO Experience garments that merge traditional silhouettes with modern fabrics. Limited to small groups, these sessions allow participants to engage directly with the essence of Japanese craft while surrounded by ’90s–early 2000s soundscapes and the grounding scent of hinoki cypress.
Throughout the afternoon, guests can create personalised keepsakes such as printing their own tenugui (Japanese handkerchief) or having a kanji character embroidered onto garments by on-site artisans, adding a layer of self-expression and intention to the experience.
As evening arrives, the performances begin. A Buddhist monk opens the ceremony with a sutra chant, followed by two Japanese designers presenting collections inspired by the intersection of heritage and innovation. The event closes with a live dance performance.
More than a fashion show, the GZO Experience aims to be a multi-sensory ritual – a practice in stillness, motion and design. Tickets are available via Peatix.
