Luxembourg’s pavilion at the World Expo in Osaka was declared a success by officials on Wednesday, having attracted 379,000 visitors and operated near full capacity throughout the six-month event.
The Luxembourg pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka attracted 379,000 visitors, including approximately 1,000 residents of the Grand Duchy, officials announced on Wednesday.
With an average of 2,250 visitors per day over the six-month event, the pavilion maintained an occupancy rate of around 95%. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Chamber of Commerce presented these figures to the press, describing the national participation as a success, despite lower attendance than at previous Expos in Dubai or Shanghai.
The allocated budget for the participation was €30 million. When asked about the final cost, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Deputy Prime Minister Xavier Bettel clarified that the project “was not exceeded”, though he could not provide an exact final figure.
Looking ahead, Minister Bettel stated his personal support for Luxembourg’s participation in the next World Expo, to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in five years’ time. A formal decision on this matter, however, must first be approved by the Government Council.
