A new way of inhabiting time while rethinking space

A new café–bar lounge, LOOPS, opened at NEWoMan Takanawa.

LOOPS opened on September 12, 2025, inside NEWoMan TAKANAWA in Tokyo’s Takanawa district. The project is led by Eat Creator, known for pushing the boundaries of food culture through imaginative, forward-looking concepts. The space was designed by the architectural studio DAIKEI MILLS, while the drink menu was created by top bartender Soran Nomura, and the food menu by chef Kyohei Nishi. Crossing their respective fields, LOOPS proposes a new way of inhabiting time.

Positioned as a re-edited version of kissaten and bar, LOOPS is a café–bar & lounge. It occupies the cylindrical atrium on the top floor of ‘TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY THE LINKPILLAR 1 NORTH,’ which architect Keisuke Nakamura and his team at DAIKEI MILLS have transformed into a light-filled space that feels almost outdoors.

By day it functions as a café, and by night a bar, redefining what a public space can be as it blends hospitality and openness. Its atmosphere is quietly nostalgic yet unmistakably modern and refined.

A diverse menu crafted by Soran Nomura and Kyohei Nishi

Drinks developed by top bartender Soran Nomura.

The drink menu is spearheaded by acclaimed bartender Soran Nomura, who brings fresh interpretations to classic cocktails—incorporating nostalgic touches such as ramune or Irish coffee. A wide selection of wines and craft beers from around the world further enriches the lineup.

Food by chef Kyohei Nishi, known for restaurants Neki and songbook.

The food menu, developed by chef Kyohei Nishi, takes Japanese kissaten culture as its starting point, reimagining beloved staples like Napolitan pasta and custard pudding. At the same time, the menu draws from global café traditions, offering brioche donut sandwiches, Norwegian waffles, carrot cake, and more.

A coffee experience rooted in the everyday

Coffee brewed with beans from FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS TOKYO.

LOOPS uses beans from the Norwegian roastery FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS TOKYO. Nomura previously worked as a bar manager at FUGLEN TOKYO, and builds on his experiences in Oslo to propose a cup of coffee that feels embedded in everyday life.

Creating a salon within the city

A new proposal for how to spend time in the city.

Neither entirely a café nor a bar, LOOPS offers a fluid way of spending time, whether relaxing alone or chatting with someone. Its meaning shifts with the moment, creating a salon-like space where urban culture intersects with daily rhythms.

Its name carries the idea of ‘circles’ and ‘circulation.’ Depending on the circumstances, the space reveals new expressions upon each visit. In this emerging neighborhood of Takanawa, LOOPS invites guests to inhabit the threshold between the ordinary and the extraordinary.
