Eating Tokyo Street Food Called “Monjayaki” from Vending Machine
Hi, everyone! I’m showing you a vending machine that sells a Japanese street food called monja. This machine offers three different kinds of monja. 【The first monja vending machine in the Kansai area.】 It only accepts cash. The monja is pre-cooked and kept frozen. Both sets cost 1,800 JPY/11.4 USD in total. Two-pack monja base set
900 JPY/5.7 USD It comes with two flavors: soy sauce and sauce. The cooking instructions. The soy-sauce and sauce flavors look completely the same. I’ll start with the sauce flavor. After leaving it at room temperature for 2–3 hours, it becomes runny like this. Monja is a street food from Tokyo. You grill it on a hot plate before eating. First, spread some oil. Coat the whole surface evenly. Next, add the ingredients. Monja contains flour, broth, cabbage, sakura shrimp, and more. Honestly, it doesn’t look very appealing. It starts watery, so warm it slowly until it thickens. When bubbles start forming in the batter like this, it’s ready. A lot of people probably wonder, “Can you really eat this?” I honestly get that feeling too. The batter is very gooey, and the sakura shrimp flavor is pretty strong. There’s still a bit of crunch from the cabbage. After a while, it starts to get browned like this. I like it when it’s cooked this much. Next is the soy-sauce flavor. The cooking process is the same as the sauce flavor. Monja originated in the old neighborhoods of Tokyo. So people outside that region might not be very familiar with it. It’s a pretty unique food, so opinions are split. it’s done. It’s lighter than the sauce flavor. It has a gentler taste, and the veggies stand out more. In Tokyo, you eat it with a small spatula like this. Mentaiko, mochi and cheese flavor
900 JPY/5.7 USD This one was my favorite. Small pieces of mochi. Cheese. And monja mixed with mentaiko. First, add the monja base. It’s a bit more watery than the others. And the color looks slightly lighter. Once it thickens a little, add the mochi. The mochi is blending into the batter. Then add the cheese. Because of the mochi and cheese, it turns extra gooey. It’s incredibly rich. The combo of cheese, mentaiko, and mochi is a classic in Japan. These three are used together in many dishes. It’s really good. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!!!!

Nice
After years of watching Japanese vending machine videos and food preparation, this is the first time I've heard of monja. Interesting.
The mochi monja looked nice, I just wonder how strong the mentaiko is?
I’ve made Monjayaki and I love it, but the last one you made with the mentaiko, mochi & cheese looks fantastic! Is it spicy or does the cheese help mellow the spiciness out?
Second one looka bad that you would feed someone In jail
