Traveling Japan “Nigata” : I was impressed by Niigata’s curry.

A terrible emergency occurred. Our polar bear disappeared. And then it was found. Actually, when I was waiting in line at the bus stop to catch a bus to Niigata, I noticed that our polar bear was missing and hurried off the bus. Then, when I returned to Aizu-Wakamatsu Station, the polar bear had fallen. Oh, relief, I’m so relieved. Look at this cute face. I burst into tears. I’ll keep it safe so I won’t lose it again. No, I was so relieved. I was pretty panicked. Sorry, I was so rushed. Niigata was amazing, so please enjoy the video below. After all that, we arrived at Niigata Station. Yay! The first bus ride was over, but we managed to get there by train. Niigata Station is so huge. It’s not much bigger than Tokyo Station. I love big stations, so I was super excited. Now, let’s hop on the bus and head to the hotel . This hotel is the Niigata Grand Hotel. We drove a little too fast and forgot to take a picture of the exterior, but I was surprised at how spacious it was. The bed was probably a double bed, and it had this side table and two chairs, which was really nice. It was perfect for two people to eat dinner together. We could watch YouTube on this TV. There was also a USB outlet next to the bed . There was also a place to adjust the lights. I like that there’s a light by the pillow for each person . By the entrance over here, there were a row of work tables, and I’m sorry there are a lot of luggage on them. This is where you can do all sorts of editing . However, the lighting above is one of those things that shuts off if you don’t move, so when I was editing, the light would go out several times, making it a bit difficult to work. Sorry it’s so dark. There are some cups and pots here. Yes. If you open the door next to the entrance, you’ll find a hanger. There’s a space to put your luggage here. And here’s a full-length mirror. This is what the whole area looks like. Let’s open the door. Hello. Now, excuse me for the bathroom. This is the wet area. The tiles on the floor have a bit of an old-fashioned feel, and I’m sure you can imagine tiles that are a bit hard to walk on barefoot. Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were all provided. There’s also hand soap. All the amenities are here. There were toothbrushes, cotton swabs, and skewers and razors upstairs. Yes. Tonight’s dinner was sushi I bought at the supermarket . To celebrate finding the original painting, I’m going to eat a ton of my favorite salmon. Then I’ll have Cobb salad and my favorite shrimp. Which one is your favorite? Salmon. Salmon. Here you go. It’s all salmon. Delicious. Delicious. Thank goodness. A real squirrel. I got scolded. Drinking beer. Drinking. Delicious. Amazing. Amazing. Like the Niigata City History Museum. Yes. Yes. Yes. Something like this. Oh, is it this way? Oh, amazing. Look. I don’t know what this is, but as it is. Wow, what a beautiful , magnificent building. There are no people around, which is nice. It’s hot. It’s very hot, but it’s nice. No, it has a nice feel. The exterior of this history museum is really cool. That’s why I want to film it from a distance, but there’s nothing transparent there that looks nice. Is there something there? Maybe this way? Maybe this way ? Oh, there’s a nice staircase. Nice. Let’s climb it. Here we go. Wow, amazing. This is impressive. Amazing. Can you see this? I’m going inside. This is the Heio photo spot . That’s right. I didn’t know that. This is the famous A-bio, the thought scene from Kingdom. The ceiling is like this. It’s amazing. It’s like stained glass. It ‘s so amazing. It has a great atmosphere. I just finished looking at it. It was really good. There were adjustment points and planning points, and the planning point was about Niigata City and the Mother War, so I enjoyed it for about an hour for about 500 yen in total. Okay, Yuru-kun, thanks for your solo trip . I came to the bus terminal for dinner today. Oh, if you thought the bus terminal was for dinner, there seems to be something incredibly delicious at this bus terminal. Yes. The correct answer is here. Curry at the bus center. It says soba udon curry, but doesn’t everyone eat curry? Apparently the curry rice here is really delicious. Hotchan loves curry, doesn’t he ? So I want to try curry. They also offer takeout , so it seems like they change the souvenirs. I’ve arrived. The one on the left is a mini size, and the one on the right is regular, but huge. It’s huge. This yellow curry looks nostalgic, doesn’t it? Like the curry you get at school lunches. It looks a little sweet, but I’d like to give it a try. Yes. I was surprised when I ate it. It’s quite spicy. The color makes it look mellow. It’s really spicy. Not so spicy that I can’t eat it, though. Oh, the old man didn’t want the Fukuhitozuke, so he took it. I was a little surprised because it looked so sweet. Also, the food came out about 30 seconds after I ordered , but it was hot and spicy. Also, this is a standing restaurant, so you eat mostly outside—well, there’s a roof, so I guess you could call it outside, but there’s no air conditioning or anything, so eating this hot and spicy curry while sweating in that heat was amazing . The taste was absolutely delicious. This thick curry, I guess you could call it? This sweet onion and big chunks of pork. Look at this. It’s big, right? It was delicious. I ordered the mini, but if you’re not a big eater, even I eat a little more than most people, and the mini was just right for me, so please be careful when ordering . Even Yuru-kun said he was glad he didn’t order the large portion. But it was so delicious that you could eat a lot. It was a little hot , and it was difficult to eat while looking up at the food, but this was a dish I want to order again, and eat every time I come to Niigata. This is the last bite. Yes, I’ve eaten it. It was a feast. The best. I’ve sworn I’ll definitely come back. It was a feast . It’s still light out, so I’d like to wander around the station a bit. I want one more bowl. Someone’s saying something weird. The curry was delicious. It was delicious. Yes. While immersed in my curry, I wandered around the station, stopping off at various sweet shops. Oh, the NGT Theater is right here! Amazing. Hello. I’d like to take a stroll around Niigata at night. It’s a turn from the direction of Badr City Building. Really. I want to go this way, but I can’t. Oh, I can. I almost can’t. I don’t know. The Mo Bridge is so beautiful. Oh, I can’t. Hmm, how do I get there? Right now. Oh, that’s it. Isn’t it so beautiful? So beautiful. Here, here. Phew. I’d like to go see the night view now . Really. The hotel where we’re staying is the Niigata Grand Hotel. Wow, nice. Night, night, night. Maybe a night stroll would be nice. Night, night, night party, like at a night mall. Fine party. Wow. What? I can hear some kind of music. I wonder what they’re doing. Oh, it feels like someone’s there. That’s nice. It’s amazing. It must feel great to sing here. It’s so amazing. I wonder what it is. What is it ? It has a barbecue-like atmosphere. I walked into a really dark place. It’s really stylish, isn’t it? It is. What is this? Yeah. It’s just a regular bench. A sexy bench, isn’t it? There are a ton of sexy benches. They’re lined up, and I think it’s probably high schoolers who sit here on their way home from cram school, chat for about 30 minutes, and then realize they should be going home, but they don’t want to, so they end up talking until pretty late. So many high schoolers confess their love on these benches. And confessing in a place like this isn’t like, “I love you,” it’s like, “What’s with both of you, like, ‘I love you,'” or, ” Tsudere, both of you understand each other’s feelings, and you’re like, ‘Yes, yes, yes, what’s this,'” or , “Yes, yes, yes , that person, they both like each other, and it’s like , ‘I don’t really care, but we could go out,'” or, “Let’s confess, that’s cool , everyone’s going crazy.” Confessions like that are a bit of a letdown. I forgot what they said. Hey, what was it that they said? I’m the one who confessed, but was they saying something like, “I want you to go out with me, but what about you?” I think they were saying it in a vibe like, “I want you to go out with me, but what about you?” What are you talking about? Yeah. Like, “That’s what I think, but what do you think?” That’s what I’m embarrassed about. Damn, I can sit down now. I can see a big building. I want to work at that company, Saijokai. Eh, but that’s scary. I want to be a career woman. Career woman. Office lady. Office lady. I want to be an office lady. Sounds like fun. I don’t know. Yes. Finally, I’ve arrived at my destination building. It’s so hot, I want to get inside, so I climb the stairs. Yes, this is the elevator for the observation deck. At this point, I just felt cool. Yes, I’ve reached the 31st floor, on the roof. Yes, this is the view from the 31st floor. Um, this was the only place to see it. I only glanced at it for a moment, but it was a beautiful view, so I’m glad I did . Apologies for the slight reflection. I’ll be back after relaxing for a while. Okay , on my way home. You can see our hotel. Oh. Are we heading there? Has that building we just passed come this far? Huh, I can see it. Yeah. And our hotel is over here. Oh, that’s nice. Nights in Niigata are nice. Yeah. Isn’t this it? It’ll be great when it cools down a bit. I had a great time in Niigata at night. Good morning. Today I’m going to eat curry again, but instead of the curry at the bus terminal the other day , I’m going for a curry that’s a little more visually appealing, or more like a photogenic one. This is it. I’m not sure what it’s called, but there was a dog there. Also, I heard there’s a place inside the station that serves sake, so I’ll try that too . We’ve arrived. Yoneyama Curry Shokudo. I arrived about 10 minutes before the turnaround time, and luckily there was no line yet, so I was lucky. Here it is. This is the interior. It’s stylish. It felt like I was in a cute cafe. Here’s the menu . The most popular item is this cheese keema curry. However, I’m not really a fan of cheese, so I ordered this spicy mackerel curry instead. It looks delicious. It looks a little spicy. This is the cheese keema curry that Yuru-kun ordered. It looks kind of cute, like a fried egg. Okay, let’s cut it open. Wow, it’s two layers like this. It looks delicious, or rather, it was delicious. I’m not a big fan of cheese, so I can’t eat that much, but the keema curry was really good. Wow, I almost ate it. This was also really good. Not only is it visually impactful , but it also has a delicious keema curry flavor, and the cheese on the outside makes it really mellow. Here it is. Atchan’s mackerel curry. I didn’t know how to eat it at all, but they said I could put it on a plate if it was difficult to eat , so I’m eating it like this. Looks like it. It’s not too spicy, I guess. So, I just realized something . I was eating this curry with a really big spoon. I thought it was kind of hard to eat because it was so big, but it turns out it’s just a spoon for pouring curry. Sorry. As for the taste, the mackerel was really soft and the curry was kind of thin, but it was absolutely delicious. Yes. It was a feast. I’ll definitely be back. Yes, I went back to the station and came to Pon to try the sake tasting I mentioned earlier. Here, you can exchange 500 yen for five coins, and you can drink up to five different types . Some sakes require two or three coins, so you can drink up to five drinks. It’s amazing. This is like a coin docker. Neither Hocchan nor Yuru-kun usually drink sake. I last had it about five years ago, so I’m not an expert, but the first one was this Kita. I don’t really get it, but this sake with “Snow” written on it looks delicious, so I’ll have a drink. It’s a system where you put in a coin and press a button. Okay. First up is Hocchan. Oh, okay. To be honest, it wasn’t very good. It turns out it’s not that the sake isn’t tasty, it’s just that I don’t like sake. Sorry. Yuru-kun tried it too, but he gave it back in an instant. Neither of us likes sake, but we had four coins left, so we wanted to use up as many as possible, so we put in three coins and got this sake . I’m not sure what it’s called, though. Putting in three coins means it’s expensive . And expensive doesn’t mean it’s delicious. So, isn’t this a great idea, since it’s delicious and you can use up coins? Let’s start with Yuk-kun. Okay. I don’t think you can see my face, but I look like a pickled plum. He said he didn’t want any more. Honestly, Hotchan didn’t want it either , but we thought we might as well have a sip. We both had really sulky looks on our faces, and we were like, “We don’t need any more, what should we do?” Okay. So, we had one coin left over, and since we didn’t need it, we gave it to the old man standing next to us . He was like, “Oh, really? Thank you,” and was really happy, so, um, we had some fried food over here too. Please drink some good sake. For us. Okay . The sake had a bit of an adult flavor. Omoto ‘s dinner was from Aeonma Supermarket. Tonight’s dinner is from the supermarket. Seafood bowl, kofun salad, shrimp mayonnaise salad, and deep-fried ochazuke. This is disguised as alcohol, but it’s not. Let’s eat. Let’s eat. Today is travel day. It’s time to say goodbye to Niigata. So, we came back to eat the unforgettable curry at Omi Bus Terminal again . It was delicious. There was a bronze statue, so let’s say hello. Here we go . A look back at Niigata. We had some crazy trouble in Niigata. Huge trouble. Yeah. It was probably the biggest trouble of the whole trip so far, right? Yeah. Yeah. I was really panicked. I was really panicked. Well, officially, it was before I got to Niigata. Well, I think some of you probably know the gist of it because I showed it at the beginning of this video, but to give you a little more detail, the hotel I was at before I got to Niigata was, um . It’s not Ashinomaki. It’s a hotel called Marumine Kanko, in Fukushima Prefecture , I don’t know if it’s in the region, but it’s in the mountains, by the river, by the sea, and from there we got a free bus to Ashinomaki, Ashinomaki Onsen, and then we took the train to Azuwakamatsu, and then we took the bus from Azuwakamatsu to Niigata Station, which was a long-distance bus. Yeah. That was the plan, and we had time to catch a bus from Gozu Wakamatsu to Niigata. We had a little time, so we went to a restaurant in Soai Wakamatsu, yeah. We probably had a meal and relaxed . The miso cutlet one. The one they put on. Right. Right, right, right, right, right. So, after we finished eating, we realized the bus was almost there, so we lined up at the bus stop. About 10 minutes before. Right. 10 minutes. Not a little before. I’m impatient, so maybe about 15 minutes. We lined up about 15 minutes before the bus was supposed to leave . Then, 10 minutes before the bus was about to leave , yeah. Um, I looked at my little bag and noticed that E’s book wasn’t there. That was. That’s right . The book is not only a stuffed animal, but also a key chain. Right, right, right. It’s a stuffed animal with a chain. Yeah. Yeah. I was just attaching it to my dog now. Right. He’s not there. He’s not there. Yeah. I was like, “What?” and then, well, I saw the backpack. Yeah. I saw the backpack. Yeah. And then, without it, it was gone. Yeah. I thought it was some kind of joke. At first I had this big backpack and this small one with a crossbody strap, and the base of the picture was on the crossbody strap, so I put the crossbody strap in the backpack. Yeah. So I thought, “Oh, maybe it fell into the backpack?” Yeah. Then it wasn’t in the backpack, and it was just nowhere to be found. Yeah. Yeah. I was wondering what to do. And at the same time, the bus came. The bus came. I was pretty close to the front of the line, so I got on . Then, I ran out of gas for the bus, and there was only one bus a day from Tsuwakamatsu to Niigata . Yeah. I realized I couldn’t get there by bus, yeah. So I got on it once. I rode it once. I got on the train saying, “What should we do?” and we left our luggage, or rather, put it down, and we started to wonder if it was really okay to go without it, both of us, and we were like, “What should we do?” and I didn’t know if the book was lying around somewhere or where I’d lost it, but I thought about going to Niigata and calling all the possible places and asking if I could mail it to them if I found it, but no, no , that’s right, but I was sure I had it in my backpack and my sub-bag until we got to the cafeteria. So the possibility of me dropping it at Eyes Akamatsu, or at the hotel or something, was close to zero. So I was sure it was definitely somewhere around here, and I got off and looked for it. Anyway, at the station, and to the lady at the cafeteria . I asked her, “Didn’t you find something white lying around?” and we looked everywhere, you know. There it was. At Akamatsu Station, it was lying, lying, on the sidelines. It was like a ball and I was like, “No, I can’t stand it.” I couldn’t stop crying, I was crying. Yeah, it makes you cry when your precious family is gone. Yeah, it was good. I was really really glad, and somehow my love for Emoto has deepened. Yeah. That’s right. Yeah. So, up until now he was Kukioruda, but now he’s been promoted to that stuffed animal. Yeah. That’s right. He’s too scared to fulfill his role as Kiholder anymore, so he’s been put in that bag with the raccoons. Yeah. That’s good. Niigata is already satisfied with that . Right. If Niigata hadn’t been for Emoto, it wouldn’t have been any fun, and the curry from now on wouldn’t have tasted very good either. Yeah. Yeah. That’s right. And surprisingly, from Niigata, Gatsu, Wakamatsu to Niigata on the same day , right. Surprisingly, there was a train, wasn’t there? Yes, there was a train. Yeah, I think it was about two hours late. Yeah. Yeah. But it felt all good. That’s how it felt. Yeah. Yeah. So, Niigata, yeah. What was the overwhelming best thing? It was… So, here we go. Ready, set, go, curry. What did you say? What did you say? Well, I was wondering whether to leave the bus terminal or get lost. Yes, curry. It’s already famous. The curry at the Bandai City Bus Center bus terminal is really famous, so a lot of people might know it. But it was really delicious. It was beautiful. It was so surprisingly delicious. It has a simple taste. It’s ordinary. And it’s delicious because it’s ordinary. It’s really a spicy version of the curry they serve in school lunches. That’s right. That spicy version. It’s really delicious school lunch. How do I put it? I kind of slept a little. Yeah. I did. That’s right. I slept a little. It’s a spicy version of the curry they serve in school. Yeah. Really. Well, it wasn’t super spicy, but it was quite spicy and really delicious. That’s right. And it was hot. The curry was hot, and the environment was hot, so you were sweating. Yes, that, that, that. Um, it wasn’t inside or anything. Yeah. S-Well, of course there’s a roof, but let’s go outside. Because there’s no sunscreen or anything. Yeah. It’s really hot. The curry is hot too. Hot. Yeah. It’s spicy. But it was delicious. You ate it twice. Right. The regular size. That’s right. It was so delicious that we decided to eat it again on the last day, even carrying our suitcases and heavy backpacks. Yeah, we ate it while sweating. We ate it. Really. I definitely recommend you go, and if we ever get the chance to go to Niigata again, we’ll definitely go twice in one trip. We’ll go. If we get a chance to go to Niigata, we’ll go there at night. Even if we have to take a little detour, we’ll go at night. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was that delicious curry. Delicious. It’s really big, so be careful. Oh, that’s right. The portion is really big, so even this big eater, Hotchan, had enough of the mini size, so I’m sure the average woman would be fine with the mini size. It’s fine. Yeah. If it’s not enough, you can just eat something else, so it’s fine to have a smaller portion for now. A mini would be fine. Doi. Okay, so where are you going next? Takasaki. Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, Kanto. Yes, Kanto. I think this is the only place I’ll be going to this time. That’s right. I’m going to the only place in Kanto, and it’s a gourmet trip. A gourmet trip. Yes, it’s a gourmet trip, so all you can do is eat. Yes. Please take a look. Bye. Bye.
