Part of the Hoshino Resorts portfolio, OMO is the group’s city hotel brand designed to help first-time travelers discover local treasures. “OMO is a city hotel brand for tourists in a strategic city-center location, perfect for exploring the urban culture. We consider the city around the hotel to be part of our properties, offering a variety of options for sightseeing, dining, and shopping. With the cooperation of the local community, city-lovers can get an insight into culture through our original tours, sharing all-time favorites and local gems with our guests!” says the OMO’s guest team.

The OMO brand is also divided into five distinct categories based on the range of services each hotel offers. For example, OMO7 provides two additional services compared to OMO5. This strategy allows guests to choose the property that best fits their type of trip, desired services, and budget. The hotel chain brought this philosophy to life with OMO5 Tokyo in Gotanda, an area where skyscrapers, hotels, offices, and approximately 1300 restaurants are located near the metro station. A bridge between past and future, the district offers a vivid portrait of Tokyo, a city that keeps evolving yet remains authentic.

Inaugurated on 11 April 2024, OMO5 is housed within the Gotanda JP Building, a complex of offices and shops. The hotel occupies the upper floors of the building, starting at the 14th floor (OMO Base), 60 meters above ground. The floor spans 1,200 square meters with a six‑meter‑high wooden ceiling where guests will find the reception, lounge, OMO Café & Bar, and a garden terrace with stunning views of the city.

The 188 rooms with a size between 19 and 57 square meters across 10 different types are situated from the 16th to the 20th floor, which offer panoramic views of Gotanda, Meguro, and Osaki neighborhoods. The interior design of the rooms at OMO5 Tokyo Gotanda blends functionality with a casual, urban atmosphere, creating spaces that feel both contemporary and deeply connected to Japanese tradition. While some rooms are compact, the clever distribution of elements ensures they never feel cramped. Every detail is carefully placed to maximize comfort, reflecting the hotel’s philosophy of accessible design for city travelers.

A unique feature is the tatami flooring, which anchors the rooms in Japanese heritage. This traditional element, used within a modern setting, offers guests a tactile connection to local culture while maintaining a contemporary and international touch. The tatami is paired with clean lines, neutral tones, and modular furniture that adapts to different needs, from solo travelers to families. Therefore, the use of lighting elements inspired by Tokyo’s neon signs brings the street life inside the rooms, remaining warm and inviting.

The design also emphasizes multi-functionality: beds, sofas, and storage solutions are integrated seamlessly, allowing guests to personalize the space according to their lifestyle. Overall, the rooms embody a stylish yet casual aesthetic, where tradition and modernity coexist.
