With Black Friday approaching, Skyscanner has released new data highlighting where Canadian travellers are focusing their searches — and where advisors may want to keep an eye on potential demand.
According to the company, Mexico leads the list of trending countries with a 32.3% increase in searches, followed by Japan (+18.9%), the United States (+18.0%), India (+10.5%), and France (+5.6%).
On a city level, Cancun remains the top mover with a 25.2% increase, while Las Vegas (+23.6%), Tokyo (+21.2%), Mumbai (+15.1%), and New Delhi (+13.1%) also saw notable spikes.
Travel Tuesday Emerges
“You might be familiar with Black Friday, but there’s another day that has made waves for travellers: Travel Tuesday,” says Skyscanner’s travel expert Laura Lindsay.
“It started in the U.S. and falls right after Cyber Monday as a dedicated sales day just for travellers. It’s also quickly gaining a reputation as the go-to day for airline tickets.
“By Travel Tuesday, most people have their travel plans set, and after a shopping marathon from Black Friday through Cyber Monday, they might not be thinking of next year’s trips. This lull is when airlines and hotels swoop in with tempting travel deals and offers to get folks planning their next adventure.”
Last year, Skyscanner recorded the most significant Travel Tuesday price drops for:
Japan: -8.3%Portugal: -6.4%Philippines: -5.4%
