An outdoor ice skating rink with a stunning view will soon open in central Japan. It is built at the foot of Mount Fuji around this time each year.

Workers at Fuji-Q Highland amusement park in the city of Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, are busy laying the ice. They have been spraying water since early this week, and will continue until it is about 7 centimeters thick.

The 400-meter rink is reportedly scheduled to open on Thursday.

An official said working in the cold made him feel as if winter has arrived, and that he hopes people enjoy the view of Mount Fuji while skating.
