Come 5 March 2026, the Imperial Hotel, Kyoto will open its doors in Kyoto’s Gion district, the heart of the geisha culture.
Accepting reservations since 17 November, the new Kyoto property will also mark the first new Imperial Hotel to debut in three decades, following sister hotels in Tokyo, Kamikochi, and Osaka.
The Imperial Hotel, Kyoto is nestled within the historic Yasaka Kaikan, a nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property located on the grounds of the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo Theatre.
The new hotel consists of three distinct atmopheres, each reflecting a different facet of the city. The Main Building – Heritage preserves the original elements of the Yasaka Kaikan, including its pillars and window frames, offering panoramic views of the city, while the North Wing introduces tatami flooring for the first time under the Imperial Hotel brand.
The seven-storey hotel features 55 guestrooms, ranging across the Signature Suite, Suite, Junior Suite, Grand Premier, and Premier Signature Suites. The lattermost offers the Imperial Suite, Penthouse Suite, and Yasaka Suite. Rooms come in at 50sqm to 128sqm, and offer either sweeping views of Gion’s lantern-lit streets and Kyoto’s mountains or overlook the main gate of the Gion Kobu Kaburenjo.
The boutique hotel will feature restaurants, bar, and wellness facilities, including a spa, pool and fitness centre.
Since April 2025, the Imperial Hotel, Kyoto is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World.
