check out our most popular experiences. The Japan series, the Baltic Cruise series through seven
European countries, the USA and Canada series, the South Korean series, and our newest series
starting now in Lima, the capital of Peru, South America. And today in Episode 21, we
have arrived in Lima, the vibrant capital of Peru. Founded in 1535, it’s proudly nicknamed the
City of Kings due to its rich colonial history. Standing proudly in Lima’s vibrant heart, greeted
by the city’s green iconic sign and a beautiful fountain. Meeting a British icon Paddington Bear
right here on the foggy coast of Miraflores where Lima meets the Pacific. Celebrating love
and connection at Love Park in Miraflores, Lima overlooking the vast Pacific Ocean. Enjoy the
breathtaking view from the cliffs of Miraflores where Lima dramatically meets the vast Pacific
Ocean. In Lima’s Plaza Mayor standing before the grand palace the heart of Peruvian power and
history. Explore the history of Lima in Plaza Mayor standing before the magnificent historic
Cathedral of Lima. The adventure starts right now. To start, we are flying London to Miami
in style on the legendary Airbus 380. And just like that, the Miami leg is over. We are
heading straight for Peru. Can you believe this? We are officially on our way to Lima, Peru, which
is our first time visiting the South American continent. I know it feels surreal. and welcome to
the very first part of our Lima Peru series. Yes, a night landing in Lima. As we descended, the
entire city was lit up in these gorgeous, warm, and colorful lights. It felt like we were landing
on a glittering carpet, a true welcome. So, first morning sunshine in Lima. We walked
straight to the heart of beauty, Alfredo Salar Park in Miraflores. The flower gardens around
those massive iconic pillars were just bursting with color. It felt so sophisticated. Absolutely.
But the true star of Miraflores is the cliff side. We stepped onto the scenic walk looking out at the
gorgeous Pacific Ocean view. The city is literally kissing the ocean. The view, the breeze, it was
pure therapy. Speaking of the cliff, the Larcomar Outdoor Shopping Mall is an architectural
marvel. It’s built into the sea cliff. Look who it is. Our little friend
Paddington Bear. It’s such a sweet connection between London and Lima. It is more
than just a connection. This is hilarious. We literally saw the Paddington Bear movie on
the flight from London preparing us for his journey to Peru. And now here he is. After
all that excitement, a quiet moment at the Miraflores Love Park with the giant kissing
statue. Do you know the significance of this place? Yes, it is a Lima’s dedication to
romance inspired by Gaudis Park Guell. It is a beautiful place for couples and
offers another stunning view of the ocean. We met someone fascinating. We had the pleasure of
chatting with Mr. Chander Subbaiyan, the gourmet traveler from the USA, and he gave us the insider
scoop on Lima, among the best restaurants in Lima. He confirmed we must try Maido restaurant, which
he says was the best in 2025. And of course, the Central restaurant, best in 2023. He gave us a
huge list of countries detailing the world’s best restaurants he had visited. All driven by a single
goal, exquisite global cuisine. He gave us a totally new perspective on travel. It really makes
us to think about what drives personal travel goals. Well, thanks to Chandhar’s tip, we rushed
over to the world famous Central restaurant and learned a valuable lesson. Unfortunately, securing
a table at Central requires a booking months ahead, proving its world-class status. Our guide
was showing us a video in Spanish, confirming that the very famous Chef, Owner, and Founder Virgilio
Martinez Veliz from Central Restaurant here in Lima was hired to cater the wedding of Ambani’s
son Anand in India. Can you imagine the best of Peru flying halfway around the world for a global
billionaire celebration? It shows that Lima isn’t just locally famous. Its food scene is influencing
the absolute elite of the global stage. Further down heading towards the lighthouse
We noticed the commitment to public health. They have free gym equipment set up
in so many spots for everyone to use. We were walking on this incredible Broadway walk
looking down at the Circuito de Playas road. You could see the Pacific Ocean, the beach,
the long winding road with the traffic. I never seen a road so dramatically close to the
water from such a height. Extraordinary view. And just as we were looking down
at that incredible beach road, what suddenly came past? The motorcycle
prossession. Hundreds of bikes winding along the Circuito de Playas. It
added such a wonderful aesthetic layer to that view from the top of the cliff. It
was a wonderful scenery we had never seen before. And look down there. There is nothing quite
like looking out at the Pacific from this Miraflores broad walk. It is beautiful.
Close to the Pier and all along the shore, there are literally hundreds of surfers out on
the waves. This is clearly the spot to be. It is more than just surfers, though. Watch how they
wait for the waves, lying flat on their boards, then gliding. It creates such a wonderful
scenery. You are right. With all the birds clustered and rising and falling with a gentle
swell, it looks exactly as if hundreds of colorful birds are floating peacefully on the sea.
It’s just a beautiful, peaceful contrast to the buzz of the city above the cliffs. The ocean
always finds a way to surprise you here in Lima. Oh my gosh, we hit the jackpot with the park
event. We stumbled upon a massive Dog Show. It was adorable. Owners and Dogs
everywhere. So many breeds and they were giving out prizes on stage. A
totally unexpected new experience for us. It wasn’t just a casual gathering either. It felt
like a really well organized community event. We saw Poodles, huge Huskies, tiny little
Chihuahuas. It seemed incredibly popular. It is. We learned that these types of
Canine beauty and talent shows are actually a regular and very popular feature here in
Miraflores parks, especially on weekends. It is a fantastic way for the community to show off their pets and just enjoy
a lively weekend afternoon. It highlights how much people in Lima love their
dogs. It is this blend of beautiful scenery, historic sites and unexpected local
events that makes Miraflores so special. Exactly. It added such a fun familyfriendly vibe
to our visit. If you are in Lima on a Sunday, check out the local parks. You might
just find a dog show waiting for you. Oh, the same motorcycle procession. Unbelievable.
The one that looks like tiny ants way down below from the cliff. Yes, we saw them from so
far away then and now they are crossing the road right in front of us. The energy is
infectious. It was already an extraordinary scene from the top of the cliff. But seeing them
up close, hearing that roar, feeling the rumble, this is an incredible scene. What a thrilling
unexpected end to our Miraflores walk. Now we are in John F. Kennedy Park or the Cat
park. This park was not created intentionally. It has always been a beautiful green space, but
it started accumulating stray cats decades ago, possibly due to people abandoning them
or the cats migrating from nearby areas. So the significance is Twofold. First,
it provides a safe monitored home for these felaine residents. And second, it shows
the incredible heart of the Lima community. People come here specially to feed
them, chat, and pet them. It’s a huge, beautiful park that fosters compassion. It’s a unique public space where human and animal
life genuinely coexist. You have the art, the gardens, the crowds, and then the quiet, watchful
cats, the true fluffy rulers of Kennedy Park. It’s a mustsee for any animal lover visiting Lima. We did not just see cats. The park was hosting
an incredible display of hundreds of interesting, colorful, and beautiful art exhibits. The
artists were right there selling their work. The crowd of tourists enjoying
this display was mesmerizing. This huge colorful blue bull sculpture is just
bustling with personality. This is often part of an exhibition. Lima uses its public spaces
like this park to showcase contemporary art. Beyond the cats, the art exhibition here
in Kennedy Park is mesmerizing. Look at all these vibrant paintings, sculptures, and crafts. It is spectacular. Hallelujah. This park showcases colorful art exhibits
every weekend, allowing local artists to showcase and sell their incredible work
directly, creating a lively cultural market. We took a moment of reverence at the Parish of
our lady of the miraculous medal church. We were lucky enough to join a mass and the internal
architecture was just breathtakingly beautiful. What? Right there is an open air auditorium with
a huge crowd enjoying singing and dancing. This weekend atmosphere and lively crowds
makes the walk incredibly fun and vibrant. Nobody say Hello. The streets are full of life, music,
games, and impromptu entertainment. Walking toward Lima Square on the weekend
is an experience in itself. We had to stop by that little doughnut shop. Yes. And our guide
explained the famous Peruvian sweet potato donuts, Picarones. But beyond the food, the energy
here is incredible. Cyro. Chankaka. That’s potato. You say sweet potato with chanka.
Changaka is like sugar cider. So these course are like our national donuts.
Let’s say you want you can try them. Now we are at the historic center Lima
Square. This is the Government Palace, the official residence and workplace
of Peru’s President. The massive size and colonial architecture reflect centuries
of political power. Standing here, you feel the nation’s history and modern democracy, all
converging in this significant spot. And right next door is the magnificent Archbishop’s Palace.
Its neo colonial style featuring those elaborate cedar balconies is truly eye-catching. As the
official residence of the Archbishop of Lima, it represents the spiritual authority
of the nation. It perfectly complements the political and religious power
housed right here in the Plaza Mayor. The heart of Lima left us speechless.
We were surrounded by magnificence, the imposing Government Palace, the richly
detailed Archbishop’s Palace and the towering Lima Cathedral. The collective scale and
historical weight of these architectural treasures are truly stunning. This is Lima
Cathedral. It is simply stunning. This cathedral holds the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, the city’s
founder, adding profound historical weight. The soaring ceiling and religious artistry inside
reflect Peru’s deeprooted Catholic heritage. Look at these balconies. The balconies of
Lima are a signature of the historic center. These exquisite wooden balconies perfectly
captured the city’s rich Spanish colonial heritage. We finally wrapped up our
first full day in Lima. We are exhausted, but our hearts are full. We hope you enjoyed
Part One of our Lima Series. In our Next Episode, join us for Lima Part Two. We climbed Morro Solar
to see the towering Christ of the Pacific statue offering a dramatic sweeping view of Lima. We
visited the monument to the unknown soldier. A powerful tribute to those lost in the battle
of Chorrillos. Near Barranco’s Bridge of Sighs, this incredible mural celebrates Lima’s vibrant
Afro Peruvian music and cultural spirit. This is Barranco’s Bridge of Sighs. Legend
says if you cross and hold your breath, your secret wish will come true. I met the famous
Argentinian comic character Mafalda. She’s a sweet, globally recognized symbol of idealism.
We stepped into history inside the monastery of San Francisco’s ancient library, surrounded
by thousands of precious aged books. We found the enormous Pre-Ica Huaca Pucllana Pyramid, an
ancient adobe structure in a modern city. Thank you so much for watching. We truly appreciate
