Anime fans have a lot to look forward to in 2026, as the small-screen adaptation of yet another fan-favorite light novel series has now been announced. A recent update not only confirmed that an animated series based on the Japanese light novel series Killed Again, Mr. Detective? is currently in works but also provided insight into the release date of the highly anticipated show.

The Editorial Department Information section of the recently conducted MF Bunko’s Autumn School Festival 2025 livestream declared that the light novel series Killed Again, Mr. Detective?, written by Teniwoha and illustrated by Riichu, is officially getting an anime adaptation. While the event did not specify the exact premiere schedule for the Killed Again, Mr. Detective? series, it did confirm an April 2026 release date window for the anime. (via matakoro_anime)

Additionally, the stream showed fans the first teaser trailer for the upcoming series, releasing a minute-long video to show what fans can expect from the anime. The brief snippet also revealed the series’ primary voice cast and production crew details while also confirming that the show will premiere on TBS in April of next year.

Rikuya Yasuda will lend his voice to the titular character of Sakuya Outsuki, with Shion Wakayama portraying the detective’s assistant, Lilithea. Studio Liden Films will be producing the animated series, with Takashi Naoya of Tales of Wedding Rings fame serving as director. Mio Inoue will serve as the series’ composer, while Shuhei Mutsuki will handle the music department of the show. Meanwhile, Akiko Kumada will take on character design responsibilities.

Since being first published in 2021, Killed Again, Mr. Detective? has generated a dedicated following. Teniwoha’s treasured creation revolves around the misadventures of Sakuya Outsuki, the son of a legendary detective. Determined to live up to his father’s legacy, the high-school student also becomes a detective, with some help from his assistant, Lilithea. Sakuya also has an ace up his sleeve that allows him to come back to life after he is killed. However, things start to get out of hand when he takes on the first high-profile case of his life on a cruise ship.
