OBAMA JAPAN TRAVEL: Japan’s SECRET Seaside PARADISE! Giant Fresh Seafood Bowl + Little Kyoto 🇯🇵🔥

I’m here in Obama together with Obama to go on a food trip and explore Where is Obama? Here in Japan. This is Obama, Fukui— a place that’s not included in most itineraries, but wow, you have to include it. Did you know that for over 1,500 years, Obama has been supplying premium seafood to Japan’s ancient capitals? That’s why here, you can taste some of the freshest seafood in the entire country. And not only that— they also have centuries- old mermaid lore— the story of Yao Bikuni, which later on, I’ll show and tell you about. They even have a charming Little Kyoto district where the old merchant houses are still preserved. If you think you already know Japan, wait until you discover Obama— a true hidden gem that few people visit, but once you see it, it’s unforgettable. In this vlog, I’ll show you why Obama is so underrated— not Barack Obama, okay? Obama, Japan. When it comes to tourist destinations, together with Sakura-san, join us— we’re going on a food trip, we’re going around here in Obama, Japan. Obama, Japan— food crawl and exploration. Let’s go! Hello. Hello, hello. Good evening. Good evening. Hello, hello. Good evening. Good evening. We’re checking out the restaurant of the hotel. Wow, this is where we’ll eat— together with some employees and the family of the Mifuku Group. It’s so beautiful here— so bright. It’s just a pity that we can’t see the sea view. But they said the view is amazing— I’ll just show it to you tomorrow. Cheers! (Mabuhay) Kanpai! Oh— Here it is— like a treasure box. Wow, they said this bowl is a creation of Hotel Urban Port. This setup— this high layered selection— you can only taste it here at Hotel Urban Port. And they said the fish here were just caught— and this shrimp right here— they said it’s really sweet. I thought when they were bringing it one by one, we would share it. Turns out, we each get one. We each get one. But— I’m thinking now— how am I going to finish this? But for sure, once I taste this— just by the looks of it, it’s super fresh. So many selections. I’m sure I’ll finish this. The seafood here in Obama, Fukui— legendary. For over 1,500 years, this town was a miketsukuni— a supplier of premium seafood to the ancient capitals— Nara and Kyoto. This comes from Wakasa Bay— that’s why every slice is rich, thick, and full of life— full of flavor. That’s why here, you’ll find next-level seafood feasts like this— fit for emperors. Now, what should I start with? Hmm… maybe— Let’s go with the shrimp. Let’s start with this. There. There—look at that shrimp. First bite. Thank You, Lord! Tastes just like the sea, with sweetness. Salty. Sea salt. That salty taste of the sea, then with a bit of sweetness, and really, really fresh. Mmm, this is such a winner. This is the kind of bowl that, if it’s just all like this, would already be so worth it. And then, ah, let’s try this—sushi this time. It’s big. Let’s just dip it a little, just a little, because I still want to taste the mackerel itself. That was insane. First bite and I’m already full. And I feel like— you know that feeling, I’m like a kid in front of the Christmas tree with so many presents that you don’t know which one to open first. So now, let’s go to the salmon. There. Like butter. I’m starting to eat faster now. The seasoning on that is so good. And then it’s almost buttery, the flavor. Then, what should be our next one here? This one. The presentation of this is also beautiful. Its texture is a little— a little tough and chewy, but that’s a welcome contrast to the buttery texture of the other sashimi. And earlier, when I lifted this up, there was more underneath. Looks like this has a marinade. I wonder what the record is here at Hotel Urban Port for who can eat this the fastest— this. I might win that. And then let’s add a little wasabi. All the while, I thought tonight is gonna be a seafood feast, but there’s Wakasa beef here. Wakasa beef— that’s what they call it. Look at that marbling. So this is actually for that. It’s like what we have in the Philippines: we use it to shoo away flies when when, you know, you light the candle—this one, this is where you’ll cook can’t wait to try that. But this— just this alone, I’m almost wary of trying the Wakasa beef because this is already so good, I almost want to end the meal here already, but that also looks solid. Looks like it’s going to be a solid beginning and ending to our meal. I’ll feed my camerawoman now, and it looks like she’s really craving already, already falling in love with it. See you in the next part of this meal. I told you, see you in the next part of the meal— now it’s lit, but I need
to vlog this too. Just this rice alone— the rice is so delicious. This one, okay? I kind of want to save some of this for this, but this is for this one. Let’s take a time-out here, although you can see we’ve almost finished. We’re about to cook the beef. They said you should start with the beef here for obvious reasons, because of course that will render fat. So you’ll use that fat for grilling the mushrooms and the vegetables. There. There you go. Listen to that sizzle. We’ll come back to that later. There. Let’s taste it. And since it’s already rendered its fat, there—just look at that color. We’ll now put these mushrooms. Beef and mushroom— now that is a winning pairing. Let’s also add Pick your pairing. Even onion is also great with it. There. We’re not going to wait long for this. I’ll try it first without any dipping sauce. Even if it’s still hot, I’ll just blow on it a bit. Wow, that was so solid. Wow, it’s— it’s hard to explain its texture. At first, on the outside, when you bite into it, since it’s freshly grilled, there’s a bit of that texture— you know, that grilled meat texture. Then when you bite in, it’s so tender, and then it releases juices— winner. And then Brother Rocky said the dipping sauce is really good. Mmm. That works. This is one of those meals that you don’t want to end. But all good things must come to an end. But my final verdict, based on this meal: Obama-shi is oishii. Hmm. I want to test how much my wife loves me. I want to ask her for that last piece, but I feel like I’ll just embarrass myself, so I won’t even try. I said, “The grilling on that looks so good.” Fortunately, this is not our last meal here in Obama-shi. Tomorrow, we’ll have breakfast here. If this is their dinner, I can’t wait to see what they have in store for us at breakfast tomorrow. Good evening, good night from Obama-shi. See you tomorrow— in this vlog, later on. We’ve just checked in at our hotel. Why is there a dinosaur? I’ll explain that in a bit. We’re here at Hotel Urban Port. The hotel is beautiful. They said there are more dinosaurs over there. There’s a mini display of dinosaurs here. Wow. I remember when I was a kid, I really loved dinosaurs. I just don’t remember the names of these ones. There— this one—this is a triceratops. That used to be my favorite dinosaur. There, that’s right— oh, it really is a triceratops. And then T-rex— of course, the king of the dinosaurs. We all know that one. So, why are there dinosaurs here in this hotel? It’s because this region is where the concentration of the most dinosaur bones were found in all of Japan. So a huge part of their tourism industry is centered around dinosaurs. Crazy, right? A dinosaur- themed hotel— where else will you see that? Only here, in Obama, Japan. Hotel Urban Port, as proof that truly, this region is known as the place where the most dinosaur bones were discovered. They even have their own Fukui Raptor. So this is our room. So when I enter, I’m not really sure what this space is for. Then maybe this is the toilet/bathroom. Wow. Nice. There’s a bathtub, there’s a Japanese toilet, and then this— a sliding door. Ah— let’s see. Wow. Wild. Insane room. Wow, it’s beautiful. This is a winner. I didn’t expect our room would be like this. So there are two beds, and then it’s like what you see in Japanese movies. So there’s a TV here, and then this— this is like their main coffee table. Then here, there’s a fridge, there’s stuff for coffee, and there’s also a mirror. This is crazy. This is so nice. I’m excited— I can’t wait to show this to Aisha. So here, when you enter, you’re not allowed to wear shoes. You have to take off your shoes. And they said this has a sea view. It’s just that right now, it’s dark, so you can’t see it. I’ll show you that view tomorrow for sure. Good and chilly morning from here in Obama— Japan. Yes, this is still Japan. This is the Japan you don’t usually see on social media. And I’m telling you— it’s relaxing, it’s beautiful. Wow. You deserve to wake up to this kind of ambience, this kind of view— and the cool weather is just right. Let’s have breakfast. That’s how it is when you travel to beautiful places— you wake up so early. Good morning from Hotel Urban Port here in Obama-shi, and this is our breakfast. It’s like their— and the breakfast is so healthy. There are side dishes, there’s a poached egg, there’s salad, and this is what I’m excited about— this is what I’m curious about. I wonder how this tastes. There. This is what’s tough when you’re on vacation in places like this— you sleep late because you did so many things, and then even if you want to sleep in more because your sleep was so relaxing, the problem is— you’re excited for the day ahead. So there, we’re starting early here in Obama. And this— this is what we’ll use to combat the cold— soba noodles. Warm, with garlic, with green onion, soba noodles. There—first bite. Thank You, Lord! Delicious. The best soba noodles I’ve tried. And this— there’s a poached egg, and then this— I’ll mix this with rice. There—ah, it’s not actually a poached egg. Delicious. And this fish— they said it was caught right there in that bay. Imagine that— we’re deboning fish here. Hmm. Fresh. I expected it to be a bit salty, but it’s not. Hmm. And Japanese breakfasts are so healthy. And these set meals like this—there are so many different flavors, just in small portions, but you get to try a lot. And there’s miso soup too. So we have a big day ahead here in Obama-shi. We need a big breakfast. Again, good morning from Obama-shi. See you later. That’s why we’re going for a walk. When your view is like this, when your surroundings look like this, you really need to walk around. And we’re going to a statue— a monument that’s a big part of the history and culture of Obama-shi. Here it is— this is what I was talking about. There are two statues here of a mermaid. And according to local lore, there used to be a mermaid here. The myth or legend is called “Yao Bikuni.” They say there was a local here who ate the flesh of a mermaid. and lived for eight hundred years. That is the Japanese legend of Yao Bikuni. So if you’re here in Obama, this is a good spot for picture taking— of course, because this is part of the local legend, and the view is beautiful too. Our “Japanese ladies.” Now we’re here in Little Kyoto, also here in Obama-shi. So beautiful. It’s like— just imagine— what if you lived here? So beautiful. Here, these are private establishments, so you really have to take off your shoes. And here, you’re supposed to think about why you came here— to experience culture and tradition. 1895. Look at the front desk. They say be careful— or you’ll end up with a bump on your head. Amazing, right? The contractors here really keep this kind of design and style of window alive. There— that’s like their entertainment while they drink here— they count those birds. So if your count doubles, you’re drunk. Even if— even if I’m not drunk, I can’t count them. If you can count them all completely, you’re not drunk yet—you can still go, “Kanpai pa, kanpai!” Your count is wrong, girl. You’re drunk already. If your count is wrong, they say you should go home—you’re drunk. I wonder what area this is. Here’s where we found ice cream. Here— we’re getting matcha ice cream. This is our first matcha ice cream here in Little Kyoto, in Obama-shi. First bite. Thank You, Lord! Hmm. I’m freezing, and I still got ice cream. Hmm. Their ice cream isn’t super smooth— you can see that, but it’s so good. Feels like this would be great on bread. Thank you, Mifuku Group, for that Little Kyoto experience. Wow— that was a winner. That’s exactly the kind of vacation I’m looking for— and maybe you’re looking for it too. Get in touch with them. Today, you’ll still find super fresh sashimi, sushi, and kaisendon, plus a peaceful seaside atmosphere far from the usual crowded tourist spots in Tokyo, Osaka, or Kyoto.
