Wakayama, Japan CYCLING Vlog (Part 1)
Hopefully none of the wind uh affects the microphone. But uh hopefully this is just a one video f or first video of many. Um just riding around on the bike in Japan. Uh basically just doing errands. Um, doing some errands and then uh I don’t know, just taking videos of it while riding a riding the bike just to kind of see how I don’t know. Just going to see how things go from here on I guess on what I’m trying to do. I don’t know. You can see how beautiful what Kayama is. I got my new bike that I’m using. Uh I’ve been here for about two weeks already. Uh already got a bike. Um bike came out to what? Uh Sanman, which is like in Japanese money like uh like 300 bucks uh in yen, which is like what, like 200 $50 or so in like in the US? I’m not entirely sure. I don’t really look I don’t really look at the exchange rate when because I pull out cash from the ATM all the time. Um, and so I just think of the money like that in yen. Dang, it’s right there. Yeah, that was Why the hell does it seem like it always takes forever on your bike? I don’t know. it. Or maybe it was just maybe I think I’m thinking about uh when I walked here last time. That took forever. It took forever and it was raining. Well, I guess uh that’s good. Let’s go here. We’re going to this place here. It’s called I guess green supa. um has a lot more like foreign seasonings or whatever that or I guess not necessarily foreign seasons, just seasonings you wouldn’t really typically have at some of the other stores. I had to come here to get some oregano so I can make some spaghetti, show uh the wife and kid uh some some decent like Italian type foods. But uh we’re just going to pause here. I’ll come out soon. Bye. Okay, we just left finally. Um the green supa. Okay, here’s that bike I was talking about that I got from uh it’s a place called Navco, but uh again it was 300 about $300 or son or no son man. Um but has like little little dingling bell um I think it’s like a six-speed. Yes, it’s a six-speed um gear on there, a little basket on there. Uh as you see, I can put all my crap in there. Uh put my phone, wallet, all that stuff. Make it a little bit easier to ride. Nothing falls out of my pocket. Um decent size tires. I think it was a 27 cm, I believe, what it said. Um let’s see. Decent uh decent size seat. um kind of hurts my ass a little bit cuz I’m not used to riding a bike. Not until I got got here at least. Um but thick metal so I don’t like I don’t feel like it’s going to break anytime soon or nothing like that, you know. Um they did put so uh the light like they have like a little loop they have like a little license plate on here that they put on here. Um that one is specifically for Wakayama. So that way like if somebody looks at the bike, they know it’s mine. Um I think it was like I don’t know. I think it was like 10 bucks or so for them to just do that for me. Um to put that on there for me at the at the store. Um and uh apparently each like each like city you live in or whatever um when we move or whatever um like if we move to a different city um we I’ll have to get a new one. I’m not worried about people stealing it, but um again, it’s on there just in case. Um got the little uh child seat that I put took off my took off my uh wife’s bike. Um stuck it on here just to make it easier. Got bigger tires and uh it’s a lot faster. So, it’s just made it simpler to put on uh my bike instead of keeping on hers. Um, then you got your LED LED light here uh that uh ticks on when you’re when you’re driving like through the nighttime. Um, that is a necessity like you need to have one of those. You’re like, at least that’s the rule. Um, when driving or riding a bike, you have to have a light on there, especially for uh nighttime. Um, yeah. I don’t I mean, and then it comes with like the little uh they all have like their little uh lock on there. So, mine just kind of slide. Mine’s just uh slides in place and then uh key locks it up. Again, I’m not really worried about people stealing it, but got to be careful either way. Um and then just put this on here. has like a little uh this is for my uh DJI Osmo Pocket 3. Um that way I can when I ride the bike or just like you saw earlier uh I can ride the bike and uh chat and record and everything at the same time without actually being, you know, too hands-on, you know. Um other than that, I don’t really know what else to say about the bike. I mean, again, I like it. Price was good. um adjustable seat and everything right here. Um but yeah, um other than that, that’s that’s pretty much it to say about it. Okay. Well, just got done from Lamu. Uh got a a bunch of meat. Got some like uh some pork, some chicken, some beef. Um some of the chicken’s going to we’ll use some of the chicken tonight and then the rest of it will be for like uh what you say? Uh chicken Alfredo probably tomorrow or something. I’m not sure. and uh was able to pick up my uh super dry asah uh beer. Um so uh slight update um I am going to start um training I guess uh on Monday. So, uh, in a couple of days I’m going to, um, do some training for, uh, the I’m going to work at the Kai airport. Kai airport is, uh, the international airport in, uh, Osaka. um which is about say about an hour to like an hour and a half away from where uh we are right now where uh I live which is uh Wakayama. Um yeah, I’m going to start my uh training there. Um it’s uh definitely going to be difficult cuz apparently they only pay from what it sounds like um is once a month. So we’ll get our training pay for like uh working 10 days and then um and then uh we won’t get paid till the 15th of next month. uh in November. So, it’s going to suck. Um trying to got to live off of the money that I currently have somehow. Uh it’s going to be difficult. So, uh I’ll have to figure out how to do that. Just trying to The good thing is apparently um they said that uh they just texted us said that uh we apparently we’re not allowed to buy food there, which I’m not necessarily sure why that is. Um I guess I’ll probably get more details on that uh when I start, but um they did say we’re not allowed to bring specific like certain fluids like uh ocha or like green tea or any uh things like that needs to be like in a clear bottle. Uh basically just uh water um which in that case makes sense. Um, obviously it’s an airport, so got to be careful as to what is coming in and out of uh the building. Again, I I just don’t understand the the food part of it, but uh it’s okay because um I guess it’ll just force us to make food at home. And I guess since that’s the case, then uh we’ll be eating a lot cheaper. So, uh strange strange rules, but I mean, at this point, I’m just going to accept it. Um which I mean, I have nothing to do but accept I there’s nothing for me to do but accept it. Um because again I need a job. I need a job now. Um I got to start working right away because I got to get make some money. Got bills to pay, kids to take care of, stuff like that, you know. So, but it’s okay. I mean and and the issue is um the the the issue uh is my Japanese is terrible at the moment. Um, and so the job I’m going to get or working for, um, uh, I’m going to be cleaning toilets and cleaning lounges and stuff like that. Um, which, you know, sounds terrible. Um, I don’t know if they’re trying to scare us when they say um I I don’t know if they’re trying to scare us. Um because they’re like they keep saying, “Oh, well, four people quit today. More people like people keep quitting, you know. Um people can’t handle this job.” And I mean I’m I’m confused. Um I mean again I already know who the hell wants you know who really wants to do like a toilet cleaning job. But again with my limited Japanese I have no choice. Not until I get better at it. Um once I get uh better at Japanese um yeah I got a bunch of uh books uh Japanese books um and I’m studying every day on my Japanese. So hopefully um that’ll get better soon. And once that does, then I can uh for it to quit uh quit the job. Um and obviously look for a better job first and then um and then I can uh eventually quit. Hopefully get more money not cleaning toilets and everything. So I guess we’ll uh see how it goes. But uh until next time, I will talk to you guys later. Bye. Look at that view of all the mountains here in Wakayama. I honestly can’t get enough of this view just cuz uh where I’m at. I get to see all the trees and forests and and everything else around me like every day until I go to work at least at uh Kai Cuko uh Kai airport in Osaka. But uh speaking of uh speaking of uh working at uh the airport, um I just uh finished my first week there already and I definitely got to say that it’s uh it’s a pain in the ass. It’s a lot of hard work. It’s not very uh easy to to say the least, but uh it’s okay. Um basically, I just uh lots of cleaning. Um they have a uh so the job that I’m doing um due to my limited uh Japanese at the moment um I sometimes will clean like uh toilets um like like a bathroom um and then uh we go up to like a premium lounge where they have shower rooms and everything. Um, I’ll take the shower room job because that’s the easiest part of my job. But, uh, for majority of the day, um, majority of the day I am, uh, basically, uh, cleaning, we’ll clean up like trash cans and whatnot. Uh or like so uh if you like uh when you’re getting ready to go and board your flight or go go through basically like the security check, they’ll have a bunch of trash cans um before and immediately after uh the security check. Um basically because obviously the the law is you can’t take certain amount of uh liquid or uh certain products on the plane. Um so due to that what we do is basically uh you’ll some some of the guys they’ll uh some people what they’ll do is they’ll dump out their uh liquid um which helps us out a lot. that way they aren’t dumping in the damn trash can. Um, but then uh then they’ll throw their empty bottles in the actual trash can itself. Um, so uh we have to clean the drain, I guess, uh, where all the fluid and crap goes. Um after that we’ll take the tanks um basically the waste uh tanks for those uh fluids. Take those. We’ll take uh pull those out, swap them out, clean them and everything. Um and then also pick out take out the trash. Um the worst part about it though is it’s not only like water bottle, soda bottle, stuff like that. people are throwing like um they’re they’re forced to throw like makeup away. I’ve seen a crap ton of makeup being thrown away. Um uh hell, the other day um I saw I mean super expensive like sake bottles, alcohol, stuff like that being thrown away. But yeah, it’s crazy the amount of stuff that people have to throw away um in order to catch their flight. That’s why I’m like I I would never uh buy anything before a security check or at least before I check my bags in. But understandably, if uh you’ve never really flown before, um or if you’ve if there’s like certain countries that maybe allow certain things, then I can see it. Uh but again um like I said my um you know but basically what I got to do is I got to sort through all that. I I I sort through all the trash cans and trash bags and everything. Um and is a and it is a very physically demanding job. um at least getting getting the bags uh out of all the trash cans out of the whole security area. Um again before and after as well as uh taking them down all these the basement sorting them everything um because um as most people know Japan likes to uh recycle and uh they are very heavy in recycling. Well, um again, Japan is very heavy in recycling. Um being a basically just one big island, um they have to. So, uh makes sense. Um, now I I know it’s not the uh um most I know it’s not the most glorious job. Um, but you know what? It’s what I got to do. If I want to uh be able to at least survive here for a year, I need to have a job. And uh again with my uh very limited Japanese um I uh I appreciate them giving me a job. They are definitely working with me. My trainer, he’s really good because he’ll use like simple words like Japanese words and help like pretty much like help teach me a little bit of Japanese um while I teach him English. So, I I can’t complain. Um, it is hard again, but that’s usually how it is. In America, I have I had tons of skill in Japan. I ain’t got So, it’s okay. I’m not going to uh complain again. I just once I get my once I get an opport once I get my Japanese skills a lot better than where they’re at right now, um I will definitely try to move on to something better. But I think I’m going to have to be with this one for uh uh some time. So um I guess I’ll uh talk to you later. Give you another update. Uh bye-bye.
