Visiting Fukuoka? Here’s what to do there in 24 hours #japan #travel #fukuoka

visiting Kyushu soon and not sure what you should do in its main hub and biggest city of Fukoka. Don’t worry, I got you. After arriving, one of the nicest things you will notice first is how close the airport is to the city. Seriously, from getting out of the airplane to getting to the main Hakata station, it takes less than 15 minutes with a 5minute metro ride. They even offer luggage forwarding services to your hotel in the city for just 500 yen, around $35, which means you can explore right away. One of your first stops should be Ohi Park, a massive garden modeled after China’s west lake with a pagoda and three small islands connected by storm bridges in the center. It’s a great place to people watch, walk around, and have a picnic. Next up, we hit Fukok Tawa, Japan’s tallest seaside tower located right next to the ocean. From the 123 m tall observatory, you can get unobstructed views out all over Fukoka, its islands, and the wide open ocean. Make sure to also stay after dark for some great night views. Lastly, if you are in Fukoka, you must try the city’s unique dining experience, Yatai. These portable food stalls are set up every day in a couple of places across the city, most famously around Tenin and Nakasu, and offer a range of foods from Fukoka classics such as Hakata Ramen, Mntiko, and Matsunab to isakaya staples such as Yakitoi and Odin. Most places will have a one food, one drink minimum per customer. But it is also really common to try yatai hopping and check out different places in the area. So that’s pretty much how you spend a day in Japan’s fourth biggest city, Fukoka. And with the city being a transportation hub, you can easily explore other places in Kyushu from there such as Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Aso, Pepo, Kagoshima, etc.
