How Many Forms of Transport Can I Take? | Tokyo to Hakone, Japan
Good morning. So, yesterday we were so knackered when we got back that I forgot to film an outro. So, um so we had a fantastic last day in Tokyo. And today I wasn’t going to film because it’s a travel day, but we’re going to be going on the Shinkansen down to Hakonei. So, uh so I’m going to film it. I think it’ll be interesting. So, we’re going to have some breakfast and then get to Hakani. Right, let’s go. line. [Music] The next station is A1. [Music] Maybe just and uh some of you may uh know may not know but uh I can’t [Music] Don’t let go. [Music] [Music] I don’t think [Music] in the bathroom. [Music] Yeah. [Music] How are you feeling? What did you understand? [Music] Foreign speech. Foreign speech. Foreign speech. [Music] [Music] Which one? So, we’re here at the Hakone Contemporary Art Museum. It’s an open air uh modern art museum. It set in really, really nice gardens. So, I’m going to put a few kind of bits and bobs together now just to show you what it’s like. Yeah. Up we go. [Music] [Music] It’s really old. Oh yes, bike. Uh hopefully by now you’ll have seen the journey from the middle of Tokyo to Aonyi today and it was pretty full on to be honest. Uh the the only kind of saving grace was the half an hour on the Shinkansen where we actually got to sit down. The rest of the time we were standing most of the time and it was so hot and uh yeah, it was pretty full on. But we’re going to head to the hotel now and hopefully get in a hotring. So, I don’t even know if I can film that, but uh but let’s get to the hotel so that I can get out of this gear because it is about 28°, right? So, we’ll catch you at the hotel. [Music] Good morning. Still in Hakonei. So this morning we’re at Hakonei Geo Park and we’re basically in the middle of an active volcano. There’s lots of uh sulfents coming up from the caldera. So we got on a finicular first and then transferred to the Ponia roadway to come all the way back here. And uh is famous for smoked eggs which are boiled in the sulfurous mineral water that you get from this area. So I think we’re going to try one of these in a bit. Maybe when we get back down to the bottom. We’re going back down on on another cable car. So this place is amazing. It just looks otherworldly kind of Lord of the Rings type of thing. Yeah. Brilliant. Right, I’ll just turn you around and uh we’ll go and have a look. [Music] It doesn’t look particularly safe if I’m honest. All the um all the shoring that they put in is all cracking and stuff. Yeah, I think I’ll be glad when we get out of here. Uh we were supposed to have views of Mount Fuji from up here. I think Fuji’s over there, but uh you know, because of the cloud, we can’t we can’t see it today, unfortunately. But maybe another day or it might clear up this afternoon. Who knows? It’s a popular spot, though. [Music] At station, you can have a meal at the view restaurant while enjoying the beautiful view of the lake. [Music] You can sit anywhere. [Music] Go up top. [Music] your personal belongings when you get off. Thank you very much for boarding the happiness icing fruit. [Music] Please remain on board. We have arrived at Okay, so that was the uh Hakone ropeway and the lake Ashi cruise which is uh awesome little little kind of fake pirate ship. So, we’re off to a place that does kind of magic puzzle boxes, and they’re going to show us how they how they make them. Uh, so I don’t know if I I don’t know if I’ll be allowed to film it or not, but we’ll we’ll see. Oh, really? self. So that was Aonyi. had a really nice day on the finicular and the cable cars uh up to the up to the geo park. It was really cool and just kind of spent the afternoon chilling out and had some lunch and yeah, just had a walk around town. It’s really a lovely little town. Guys fishing out there. So, I think it’s a bit of an adventure to get back involving buses and finiculars to get back to the hotel. So, I’ll probably film now cuz it seems like it’s an adventure getting anywhere in Japan even though the public transport is absolutely amazing. Right, we need to find the bus to get to the finicular. Right, let’s do that. Okay, so change of plan. We were going to get the bus um back to the railway station, but Mount Fuji has been in cloud all day and uh it’s just kind of starting to clear now. So, we’ve jump back on the pirate ship and we’re going to go to the cable car, go back up the mountain to uh the geo park and see if we can see Mount Fuji. So, fingers crossed. Uh but we get to go on a cable car in a finicular, so it’s all good. continue. [Music] I mean, it might be a close Memorial. [Music] [Music] [Music] Make sure you have all of your belongings with you and please watch your step as you exit. We look forward to your next visit. [Music] being hold. [Music] [Music] Well, there we go. That’s another day in of cable cars and trains and boats and stuff. It was really enjoyable. I really enjoyed the chilled out bit in the middle as well. So that’s pretty much Horny done. And tomorrow we are traveling on the Shinkansen down to Osaka. So that should be good. I’m going to film the travel day as well. Uh and then we’ve got a couple of days in Osaka which should be good. So we’ll cut to tomorrow morning and we’ll see you then. Thanks for watching.
