Episode 18, we are returning back to Seoul, the capital of South Korea, Part Three. That’s
right. In this video, join us for breathtaking views and a journey into Seoul’s history. We
visit the iconic Love Lock Park where countless padlocks symbolize eternal commitment right on
the slopes of Namsan Mountain. And of course, a quintessential family picture in front of
N Seoul Tower, which stands as a beacon of the city’s modern identity. We will capture
an even wider Seoul city view from N Seoul Tower offering a stunning new perspective
on the metropolis we have been exploring. Then we travel to the Great South Gate, one of
the original eight gates in the Seoul Fortress Wall representing the city’s enduring history.
Hello everyone. Today is the day we have been waiting for. We are trading the hustle of
the city for one of its most romantic and highest peaks. We are currently walking up this
charming slightly slopey pathway that is the first test of Namsan. This is our reward, the
Namsan Urumi, the climbing elevator. It looks so modern tucked into the mountain slope. It’s
Korea’s first outdoor inclined elevator. Such a clever idea to connect the street to the cable
car station. I read it was opened in June 2009 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Oh, even
this short sloped ride is a treat. We are moving up an altitude difference of about 138 m at a
relaxed pace, maybe around 3.2 m p/sec. Look how fast the busy streets below are shrinking.
The Namsan Orumi ride ended. After a short wait, we boarded the cable car. Okay, this is it. The
big one. We are finally on the legendary Namsan cable car that can carry 48 people. The cable
car lurches slightly and begins its rapid ascent. Oh my god, the speed is exhilarating. The cable
length is 605 m and the ride only takes about 3 minutes. It is too fast for this view. I know
it’s an ocean of green right now. The mountains vast greenery is spectacular. A secret garden
in the middle of this concrete jungle. And look beyond to the city. We are rising higher and
higher. The skyscrapers look like toy blocks. My heart is actually thrumming with joy. It
has been operating since 1962, Korea’s very first commercial cable car. For decades, it has
been taking millions of tourists, probably over 600,000 annually. We have stepped out of the
Namsan cable car and are now walking into the main plaza where countless railings, fences, and
sculpted trees are covered in padlocks. Look, this is not a park. It is a monument of devotion.
This is the famous Love Lock Park at Namsan, the ultimate symbol of eternal romance in South Korea.
It includes the incredible “Tree of Locks” where padlocks hang like vibrant shiny leaves. How did
this park appear at this height and why here? It is all about the location and the N Seoul Tower’s
own reputation and prominence. Namsan Mountain is already the geographic heart of Seoul offering
the highest point in the city for an unobstructed view. This park is connected to the tower.
It’s an extension of the viewing platform. We are currently about 480 m above sea level near the
peak of Namsan. This altitude gives the commitment a certain gravitas – You’re locking your promise
to the highest most visible point in the city. So, you lock your love to the literal heart of Seoul.
That is the beautiful thought. What is the logic behind this tradition? The logic is simple,
powerful and now globally recognized. You write your names and a wish on the lock attach it to the
fence and then the key is symbolically thrown away historically into the valley below – signifying
that the love is now unbreakable, sealed forever. It really took off in the mid – 2000s, heavily
fueled by its presence in popular K-dramas and films, transforming it from a tourist novelty
into a cultural pilgrimage site for lovers. The drama element makes so much sense. It turned
a simple lock into a grand romantic gesture. Look at the sheer scale of the commitment here.
I heard the number is impossible to truly count, but estimate suggests there are millions of locks layered onto these terraces and railings.
It is not a single “length” of fence, but a sprawling volume that probably covers
hundreds of meters of rail space around the tower plaza. Exactly. The sheer density is the
impressive part. It’s a living, growing exhibit of hope and happiness. The Stone Fort Walls in
front of N Seoul Tower is a perfect spot for family photo. Our official family portrait in
front of N Seoul Tower. This huge curved wall, glowing at the base, It’s such a striking
centerpiece of the whole Namsan Park area. Perfect. And I got a fantastic video panning from
the Love Locks to the tower itself, capturing the vast surroundings and the city stretching
out. But let’s go. The boys have the tickets. Wow. Even the entrance is impressive. It’s also modern and colorful. A completely different
atmosphere from the tranquil mountain path. We enter the highspeed elevator and the
door slide shut. Eyes darting around the cubic lift room. This is amazing.
It’s a video display. It’s like we are shooting up through the mountain and
out into the space. You’ve been there. It’s so immersive. A brilliant theatrical experience that makes the ride up to
this incredible height, so much fun. The short ride ends and we step out
onto the circular Observation Deck. I am honestly shocked. From the outside, You
never imagine the Tower head is this enormous! This whole floor is a huge circular space,
wrapped in glass! It is so much bigger than it looks from the ground. Look at the
details here. New Delhi 4,717.8 kilometer, London 8,954.45 kilm. They have all the world’s
famous cities and their distances printed on the glass according to the direction you
are facing. That is a lovely touch, connecting Seoul to the rest of the world from its
highest point. All right. Now tell me everything you know. Okay. Here are the key facts about N
Seoul Tower. Its total height above sea level is approximately 479.7 m making it one of the
highest points in Seoul. As a premier landmark, it’s a massive tourist magnet. It attracts
an estimated 8.4 million visitors annually, making it one of Seoul’s top attractions. The
tower is more than just a viewpoint. It is a symbol of South Korea’s incredible transformation.
I know, it feels like we are floating in the sky. Look at this incredible 360° panoramic view.
My head is spinning with the beauty of it. The way the city sprawls, meeting the distant
mountains, it’s all laid out like a giant map. Now, you tell me interesting facts you know
about this tower. Number one, Light Show, The tower’s exterior lights powered by the latest
LED technology put on dazzling light or displays, that change color depending on the weather.
Number two, Revolving Restaurant. The N Grill French restaurant on the top floor
slowly rotates 360° every 48 minutes, offering a continuously changing dining view
of the city. Welcome to Tower. Beautiful view. We have this this massive massive
gang area. canyon and a lot of worldwalk away. Oh, okay. I’ll slowly go. Let’s go in. Let’s
see. There’s there’s some sort of uh match going on over there. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Stalk. Oh, we
can actually see what what sport they’re playing. Bops, welcome to the uh the sky
tower. What are your thoughts? This is completely modern. Even from the
toilet, you could see the city view. This is the stunning city. We can see in the background the
metropolitan area of Seoul. And speaking of views, remember our trip to Japan, Osaka Harukas 300.
I see Seoul has the same fantastic feature, the restroom view. Imagine having
the entire city skyline as your backdrop while you wash your hands. It
is such an unexpectedly luxurious detail. Wow, we have come down so fast. What was that
one more special spot you mentioned? Absolutely. Follow me. Now we are walking towards a
key viewpoint here on Namsan Mountain just a little way from the lower base. Seeing the
city from the observation deck is one thing. But seeing the sprawling Seoul beauty from the
open air perspective of the mountain itself, it hits differently. Just look at this
staggering view. We are perched right here watching Seoul breathe. The sheer scale of
the city is absolutely overwhelming, stretching endlessly to the horizon. I feel so small and
yet so connected to everything. The green curves of the mountain flowing into the rigid lines of
the urban sprawl. It is the perfect contrast. I could stand here all day just watching the light
hits those distant buildings. It’s breathtaking. We are standing on top of
history. This is unforgettable. This is a closer view of the historic residential
palace, Cheong Wa Dae, which you can see now from Namsan Mountain in the distance with its
distinctive blue roof. Oh my goodness. Yes, that’s the historic presidential palace. It’s
incredible that we can spot such a famous high-profile landmark from this distance. That
blue tile roof is unmistakable, shining like a gem nestled among the trees. Returning via
Namsan cable car, we cherish the wonderful moments of our N Seoul Tower visit. Look at the
city shrinking again. Indeed, what a day. From locking of a promise at the Love Lock Park to that
incredible elevator ride and the breathtaking 360° views from the top of N Seoul Tower. Every
moment was a Jewel an absolutely wonderful visit. Huh. That was a wonderful bus journey down
from Namsan. And now look, right in the middle of this bustling modern city, we have arrived at
pure history, the mighty, The Great South Gate. Agreed. Let’s get off this bus. I want to walk
through that arched gateway and feel the weight of 600 years of history. Oh, it is even more
imposing than the pictures. The way it stands, a perfect elegant contrast against those Glassy
Skyscrapers. It truly is The Great South Gate. It’s popular mainly because it was designated
as South Korea’s very First National Treasure. Goodness, that commercial street was a sensory
explosion. The sheer number of peopl,. My head is still buzzing. That’s Seoul for you,
Endless energy. Now let us relax. Umesh’s friend has brought us to a very special place
for Korean traditional dinner. This restaurant has been here for a long time serving authentic
flavors. Oh, this is perfect. It feels so warm and welcoming. We are ready for some real Korean
taste now. A short time later, we all seated and the table is covered with various Banchan side
dishes and the main courses. Look at the boys, They are adventurous tonight. They are loving
the meal. I’m so happy you are enjoying it. It just tastes right. A traditional Korean meal is
not just about the main dish. It is about sharing all the different Banchan, It is about harmony and
family. We all thanked our South Korean friend for giving us this beautiful traditional experience.
A truly unforgettable day. In the Next Episode, we visit the Iconic DMZ. The tour offers a vital
sobering glimpse into the world’s most heavily fortified border directly connecting visitors with
the unresolved military history and the enduring hope of Korean reunification. The statue of
peace is a powerful memorial dedicated to the victims of sexual slavery during World War
II. The Mangbaedan Altar is a deeply emotional monument at Imjingak where South Koreans
separated from their families in the north, perform ancestral riots and pray for unification.
The monument of unification symbolizes the strong burning hope of the Korean people for
ultimate unification and enduring peace. This “One Earth Sculpture” is a hopeful monument
showing figures actively pushing together a split bronze globe symbolizing the Korean desire to
overcome division and achieve reunification. DMZ sign is a colorful symbol of Korea’s division and
wish for peace. solemn visit to the war memorial of South Korea, which serves as a poignant tribute
to the nation’s military history and its pursuit of peace. We stand before the majestic statue
of King Sejong the Great, honoring the fourth king of Joseon Dynasty, who created the Korean
alphabet, Hangeul. And we see the fascinating huge Sleeping Giant art installation. Finally, we
conclude at the famous Seoul Stream, a magnificent urban renewal project that transformed a neglected
highway into a beautiful public waterway. Thank you so much for watching. We truly appreciate
