Life in Kyoto 🇯🇵 Ramen, Eclairs & Gion Festival BTS
one day in Kyoto during the Gion festival season we went out for lunch we enjoy visiting new places and we visited this noodle shop I got intrigued by the soupless noodles I got intrigued by the soupless noodles so we decided to try this place out the restaurant seems to be
popular with some celebs and you have a wide choice of different noodles to choose from we went for the menu posted outside we both ordered the mazesoba they looked so appetizing
and the volume was so big everything was delicious and
we both enjoyed our lunch before Gion Festival they have to prepare the floats and the city we were fortunate enough to see the preparation of the floats this is not a common sight and you don’t really see it during the festival itself the assembly of the floats still follow the traditional way pieces of wood and lots of rope you could sense the engineering knowledge of people in the past when they designed and made the
floats without modern techniques today I can’t believe that they’re making this in this heat of summer everything was well coordinated whether they’re doing the right process or not it was so hot so we got some drinks from the nearby store and we were lucky to find
these kombucha from Vietnam there are many floats spread in the downtown area and they are being assembled at the same time we haven’t had dessert yet so we visited Maison Kayser
nearby to buy eclairs for dessert we got the caramel and chocolate eclairs they were not expensive and they’re very good Maison Kayser has a space to work as an alternative to Starbucks Suina where Maison Kayser is located
has stores that sells different goods such as souvenirs, pop up store items, and books and now because it’s summer you can find summer souvenirs outside the mall one of the grander floats is being built unlike the other one this
one is closer to completion one of the highest and the
most popular one is this naginata hoko or the float with a spear on top not knife lol the merging of tradition and modern culture is definitely highlighted during the Gion Festival season Dai will attend the town meeting and he needs souvenirs to bring so he went by the the Lindt store here along Shijo Street they also have coffee and chocolate drinks as well as ice cream Itoen is my favorite tea brand
Spend a summer day in Kyoto during the Gion Festival season with us! We started with a delicious lunch at a popular ramen shop, trying the appetizing mazesoba with generous portions, perfect for noodle lovers. After lunch, we were lucky to witness the preparation of the Gion Festival floats, a rare behind-the-scenes look at traditional craftsmanship, engineering, and coordination in the summer heat. To satisfy our sweet tooth, we visited Maison Kayser for caramel and chocolate eclairs, enjoying a cozy spot to relax amidst downtown Kyoto’s shops, souvenirs, and summer-themed stores. This vlog captures the perfect mix of Kyoto’s food, culture, and festival traditions for travelers seeking authentic experiences.
